My house will be without power for at least 5 days. Two transmission line towers from the nuclear plant are umm missing. So Huntsville is SOL for awhile. On the bright side, we're staying at my Dad's river house which has power. We've got Massive damage less than 1.5 miles from our house. Neighborhoods just gone. |

Master 2327 North Alabama | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed I'll be hit or miss starting tomorrow. Another tornado touched down in Eclectic, Al and traveled into Dadeville, Al. I have family in both. My family has property in Dadeville, Al on Lake Martin. As of this afternoon, Search and Rescue was still out searching for folks that they can hear screaming from the trailer parks. I'll be there Saturday trying to cut trees up so that we can get to our property and hopefully start cleaning up. Preliminary reports say trees are down around it, but luckily nothing's hit it. |

I was talking to someone on the weather team at the TV station I work at and he quoted some scary numbers. The nation averages about 120 or so confirmed tornados in April and yesterday alone there were 200+ unconfirmed. I wonder what the final official number will be. I saw the stat yesterday now I'm finding the story. The reports are 137 tornados touched down from the storm system that moved from Arkansas to the east coast. |

Extreme Veteran 334 Oshawa, Ontario | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed How's everyone? Hopefully you've been able to get back to training after all the storms have passed by. I had a great swim workout today, this being my forth swim of the week. My main set was 900m endurance swim and I did it with an average of 2:04/100m. I was sure to be closer to 2:15-2:20 range. This is only my second week of regular swimming, had a three month layoff because of schedule. But I can feel my swim fitness coming back much faster then expected. I do have my long run scheduled for today but weather and work schedule will postpone it to tomorrow. I expect a warmer day tomorrow so I don't mind waiting. |

Extreme Veteran 532 Northampton, UK | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed Had my first non solo ride yesterday with a good mate of mine who is a much faster cyclist. Took it in turn pulling and found drafting fairly easy (guess it helps when you know the other cyclist well). Managed to maintain a 16mph average over 22miles which, considering the hilly terrain and the wind, I'm very happy with. |

Master 2372 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed April is in the books:
A bit more than an hour a day logged, which is probably about all the time I can scare up to do this stuff. My running suffered to get more pool work and bike work in. Se la vie. Got a good OWS in today: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/82568622 This was part of it that I captured with GPS. Not bad. Held 1:22-1:25/100 or so for each of the sets, which is pretty decent considering I hit up a 40 mile ride before that. With a proper taper I'm hoping the swim in May turns out pretty good. How did everyone else's month go? Edited by sand101 2011-04-30 8:50 PM |

April totals - feel pretty good about most of it, but looking at a measely 4 hours of swimming makes me realize I didn't hit the pool as much as I should've. Got in a brick this morning - 35 miles at 16.5, 2 mile run in 17.41. Felt great. Race is in 14 days. |

Sick all last week which brought the numbers down a bit. But biking was up and I did get in one open water swim! Got the bike so I'm anxious to start getting those numbers up even more. I think I'll shoot to bring the swim down a bit and bump up the bike and run - literally, on hills in prep for Asheville race in June. All told, not too bad. Keep moving!! |

I think I came back from NOLA with ITBS. What to do? Been using foam roller and the stick. Eating Ibuprofen like candy. Hurts like hell when I run. Nonetheless, did I mention I love my new shoes!!!Great month of training. Biggest bike month so far, the total below includes several trainer rides that I didn't count mileage for.

I'm not expert, but sounds like you are doing what your supposed to be doing. You may also need to stretch out your hip flexor and hamstrings. Make sure to give it some rest. You may want to make a PT appointment and get it checked out. They can do some work on your IT band, that you may not be able to do yourself. Plus, they will make recommendations on how to help it along. Not sure what else you need to do. |

Damn! Nice job. I'm going to stick with my story from last week (that I'm having trouble with my garmin upload) so my numbers aren't accurate but I know they won't be that big. |

I had some IT Band issues last year when cycling. I found some stretchs online and was religious about doing them before and after my rides. It went away in about 2-3 weeks. I don't have the link anymore but there are a lot of videos on you tube. |

That's still a very solid month! Very nice. I went to the monthly totals thread in Triathlon Talk and was blown away at some of the numbers posted there. |

The trigger has been pulled. Registered for Atomic Man today. Hopefully your IT Band heals quickly. My wife had the same thing happen to her while training for a half mary last year. She wasn't training properly (running infrequently and increasing distance at the same time). She did bounce back after foam rolling, stretching and rest. Sounds like you've got the routine down...just need to give it some time. |
