Took the little man for his 2nd run in the stroller on Friday. Same route as last time along the waterfront, but made an effort to slow down and try to keep more of an even pace. Much more enjoyable for me than going quick. Also got a 45 minute long(ish) run on Sunday, longest of the year so happy with that. Only 4 runs total this week, but got over 2 hours for the first time since before Christmas so happy. That's 2 weeks in a row I'm happy with things... long may it continue. |

Well done. Pacing doesn't really matter much when you're base building anyway. |

Expert 4921 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Got in 45' on the treadmill with about 15' of it jogging...still experiencing some soreness in my facet joints which hopefully will be fixed when we electrocute them this week. I think they're sore because they're scared. I was TOAST yesterday, really run down, no energy. The weather isn't helping as we had our 4th or 5th rainy day in a row, but I'm thinking these races are starting to take their toll. Two more this week then my mini race season is over and I start my cycling build after I recover from the procedure.

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open I have been a bum but hope to get back into a routine this week. I second Mike on the dreary weather we've been having. Makes motivation very difficult. I am going to Puerto Rico in 2 1/2 weeks though so need to get ready to be in a bathing suit for 5 days straight! |

Regular 866 Central Coast, CA | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Sunday I went for a long trail run for about 11.5 miles, legs are still a bit sore so I'm just going to go for a swim after work today. Took my new bike out for a ride on Saturday and boy is it fun and fast! So light compared to my heavy commuter bike it almost felt like nothing was there at all. I'm looking forward to putting many miles on this beauty: |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Hi All! I'm back from my conference in Seattle and while I wasn't all that great in the workout department, I did try eight new brews. I believe I've already told you about two. The others were Bad Jimmy's Coco Vanilla Porter (good on first sip, but then cloyingly sweet afterwards with a weird aftertaste), Elysian Dragonstooth Stout (very good and dark), Iron Horse Irish Death (good, but could get old after a pint), Snoqualmie Steam Train porter (nice, dark, would drink again), Harmond Pugett Sound Porter (ehhhh...it was okay, but I think if it had been the first beer of the night instead of the fifth, it would have not made the cut). The last one was also called Elysian Stout, but I don't know if it is the same company or not. I drank five, so I think I liked it (although I wasn't so happy when I got up the next morning!). Back at it this morning with a very slow and unusually pathetic run. I don't know what was going on, but it just didn't feel good. I followed it up with some yoga in keeping with my "try not to get hurt" mantra this season. |

But, for proper bike p0rn the photo should be from the drive side, and the chain in the big boy ring Enjoy your new ride. |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Got two runs in this week so far (though today was a short 2 miles). Long, long day tomorrow so I doubt I can swing it. I get about 24 hours at home this week (rough one considering it’s the boys’ vacation week). I switch bases the first of the month so I have to move my stuff from my NY crashpad to one in DC and still try to get Home long enough to see my family, do laundry and pick up the dry cleaning. I am very happy that the place I stay in DC has a very decent gym so I’m fired up for the days I sit reserve there. |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Back on the wagon! Went to a cycling class this morning, going to boot camp tomorrow, and hopefully catching the tail end of masters practice after my swim lessons tomorrow. Also have 1-2 football games tomorrow night, so it's going to be a busy day! Now that my knee is better I need to bring my new trainer in the house and try it out (in a doorway so I don't die, lol). Hopefully it's not nearly as hard as it looks! |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Lunchtime swim today. I'm going to have to find a new time to swim. I keep running into people I know...talkers. Today was 15 min taking with a guy in plant biology about a possible joint research project. Good conversation, needed conversation, but seriously, why did it have to take place in the pool?!?!? Doesn't really matter, in two weeks I'll be off to Egypt for a couple months, so no swimming! *sigh* |

Expert 4921 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Zwift race again today, got smoked as usual. I feel better afterwards, though, so at least that is progress. Final race of the mini-season Friday morning. Got in about a mile in the pool yesterday, felt pretty good during the main set considering my lack of swim volume this month. |

I'm looking forward to putting many miles on this beauty: Ooooo!!! Pretty. Aero road bike? Yup, it's a carbon fiber aero frame road bike and I added the aero bars so I can ride in a tucked position. The geometry isn't quite as open as a true TT frame however it's still comfortable when riding the bars. And yes, I realized when I posted the picture that I forgot to shift up to the big ring Yesterday I swam for 1300m, closing in on the 1500m target for my Oly later in spring. Some wintery weather is finally hitting my part of California so I may not get as many outside workouts as I'm used it. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Nice early morning run in a light rain at 50F--couldn't be better running weather, if you ask me. Of course, the dog got sprayed by a skunk on Friday night. Even if you get the musk off right away and the smell goes away, whenever she gets wet again it is like she just got sprayed. By the end of the run, I thought I was going to pass out from the odor! Followed up with 15' of yoga to stretch out the body. Today is my wife's 40th birthday. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm getting her an iPhone X. She is a gadget hound and just can't stand that she doesn't have the newest, latest, greatest phone. |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open I went to boot camp this morning and DIDN'T DIE! I honestly did not expect to make it through the workout since I haven't gone in a month and a half (and haven't done a burpee in as much time). Today is a day from hell (work, swim lessons, quick swim possibly, need to fit in dinner, then 1-2 football games, not going home at all). It's good stuff but I am already looking forward to being in my bed tonight! |

Swimming later today after work and the water will probably be warmer than the air. |

Water was 67F, air was 40F and I can tell you the first hour of the bike (HIM) was absolutely miserable. |

I know that's awful on the bike, but it is just awesome swimming outdoors in a heated pool when it's chilly outside. So Gretchen I'm talking 80*/40*, not 65* water!! |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: 2018 Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Always Open Not much to report from me so far this week. 2 short runs is all I have to show so far. And the forecast for the next few days is pretty wet too, so it's going to be a test of my motivation to improve things to end the week. |
