I will probably go to both the dinner and meeting and I think it would be fun to have a BT table/meet up.

I won't be attending the dinner, and I doubt I'll be at the meeting.

I like having a nice dinner with family/friends on Friday night.

I think the most important message that comes out of the athlete's meeting is to be thankful to the volunteers, and not be an @$$ out on the course. The Paul Huddle / Roch Frey video's are humorous, but I'll probably stay at the cottage.

I'll probably opt for the meeting only as well.  Somehow spending the additional $$$ to have my wife and kids not enjoy a meal is not appealing to me.  I would rather find a nice italian restaurant and enjoy a meal with my family

Will there be mass quantities of alcohol for consumption at the Friday night dinner?

Not exactly - last time I was there they had sparse quantities of gatorade and water, and that's it.

I was eaten alive by bugs watching fireworks over the 4th, and then became concerned about encountering a similar fate during the marathon (as I will almost certainly be running in the dark - assuming I make the bike cut-off...).  Is this a problem in LP this time of year?  Should I bring bug spray?

I'd say no to that as your senses are really acute after that much effort and it might cause some breathing/respiratory issues.  Not too mention that your skin needs to "breath" and sprays/lotions often clog up your pores.

At least that is my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm in for 2009.  Assuming I survive the first go in 2008, that is.

FWIW, when I was up there last year I don't remember bugs being an issue at all.  Of course, I was in the middle of town and not in the out-and-back in Hazelton, so that could be a different story.

Three more work days and counting...thank GOD!

Jess - I see the "New ark" location for you. Are you a Blue Hen? (like myself)

How I miss Nachos Grande from the Deer Park. And those 45 cent beers.

Speaking as the 4th IMLPer that attended a certain dinner, I say yay as well.  I just want to know when you are attending packet pickup as I want to see the response to that.

LOL...Yes, I am from "New_Ark" .  I'm a Blue Hen by profession, not academics, unfortunately.  But...I do love half price burgers on Tuesday and Thursdays!  My office is right across the street, so we're frequent diners.

After Lake Placid, I may try out the turkey pretzel...it's quite good, from what I hear.  The roads up Maryland are good for training - if I go up 273, it's almost just as much climbing as LP, so works out well.

OK, so for those considering signing up for 2009, we have:

1. Kathy
2. Scout
3. Pennstate (me)
4. Tamio
5. Rollingbones
6. RunnerX
7. JessXU00

Anyone else? I am still considering IMKY, but likely LP.

count me in..it'll be my first

Oh, also, good luck to all those racing. I'll be in special needs for the bike with a Philadelphia Tri Club/Guy's Bike hat on (it's yellow).

Grrr. The girl who sits on the other side of my cubicle wall is "sick as a dog." (Her words not mine.) She has been out with the flu - high fever, chills, congestion, etc. It's really freaking me out. I just turned to my boss and said, "I think I'm going to go home sick. All this sickness in the office [other people are coughing and sneezing too] is really stressing me out." But she just said, "Nah, you'll be fine. Just think positively and you won't get sick."

Grr! I really think I want to go home! The bummer is that I am only working on Monday, so I have a lot of work to do. The sick people should stay home -- where they belong!!!
