Hi --

So today I realized there might be a time zone difference between Spokane and Coeur D'Alene, but it looks like Idaho is one of those two time zone states and the northern portion is on the Pacific time zone, so it will be the same time at Spokane airport as in Coeur D'Alene, right? Also, did anyone else get the email from the IM TV people asking to do an interview? Has anyone here ever done one with them before?

I plan on riding out to Higgins Point and back from the CDA city library approx. 2pm tomorrow. Nice, easy, chatty spin if anyone is interested....

Where's the CDA library? That sounds about perfect for me. I need to do a 1 hour bike tomorrow

The moose by the beach (there's also a giant flagpole) or you could just look for the Honey Badger picture

3-Aims: Swim @8AM is at Independence Point at Lake CdA--rally point (Army for link up) is the Moose Statue near the big flagpole.

Achen2Iron: I'm in for an easy spin. I'll look up where the library is and meet you there, I need to do 30 mins, but anything more won't hurt either if it's at easy pace (with a couple of hard efforts for a minute or two).

I just mapped out the run course:

http://goo.gl/maps/Eh4J

The house I'm staying at is almost on top of the course (roughly 11th Street and Mountain Ave).  I should have a pretty good sized cheering section out there as we all go by.

Travel safe, everyone!

[/QUOTEWell I am on mountain and 12th. Swing by and grab a beer. See ya'll at the moose in the morn.

leopard8996 - 2011-06-22 1:13 PM 1/2 way to CDA and stopping for lunch and a quick internet break Question for all of you HB lovers out there: I've got sweet HB pictures to use for making signs at the Inspiration Station like: Bonking? (Picture of rabid HB) Honey Badger don't give a ! Should I spell out the swears or make them more family friendly?

Hi Bonnie - I would suggest going the family-friendly route with the signs. There will be lots of kids out there watching the course and as a parent of little ones (well, getting big now), I appreciate not having to field those questions from them about why a sign has a bad word.  They get a kick out of the $#!*& stuff in the comics though so I would suggest something along those lines.

Leg one of the trip north is complete. The kids knew this is important and were on their best behavior....didn't even have to threaten to leave anyone on the side of the road. Currently trying to convince myself that the fogginess in my head and tickle in my throat are just nerves and nothing more. Leg 2 tomorrow should get us a ways past Bend,OR tomorrow...and plan to roll into CdA before noon on Friday.

Hey everyone.  I've got a lot going on right now but I'm going to try to put together a page that will show all of the BT peeps splits/results on one page and the results will be refreshed automatically.  If I have the time to get it done I'll post the URL for everyone.

And just moments after typing that it is now pouring with loud cracks of thunder.  Might all pass by 8--but we'll see.

Is everyone still heading down this morning?  Nothing like being waked up by the flash of lightning and the boom of thunder.

I'm planning on it. I think the weather is supposed to calm a little by 8AM. If there is still alot of lightning flying around I won't get in the water but will if it's just raining.

Hahaha! Yeah-the return trip won't be quite so speedy...I'll be stopping for a sleep on the way back. Made the mistake of doing the straight run after last year's race-won't be doing that again...-John

A few of us braved a chilly morning (but definitely a warmer lake than yesterday) and some pretty solid chop to get some swim practice.  PhatKnot came down to say hi, and met up w/PGA Mike post-swim.  Hopefully that chop goes away by Sunday, it was more of a pain than the water (not too cold--I'll be wearing a sleeveless suit w/ speed sleeves).  Hope to see more tomorrow morning at 8 (at the pictured moose) and at the dinner!

Also--a tip to those in town already, first 500 to register get free TYR goggles!

Aw shucks you guys... is this some sort of last minute conspiracy to make me slap down the plastic and get on that plane?!?!?!  Truth be told you guys did the hard work while I sat here and played arm-chair QB.  I guess that's allowed when you've actually been a semi-successful QB in a former life, so I'm glad most of you didn't mind (I seem to recall rufflin' a few feathers).

It was 100% the right thing for me to drop out of this race and focus on some non-sports health issues, and my life is more balanced and I'm overall more healthy today because of it, despite being a few pounds heavier... plus seeing that shrink every week this whole year made even IM NYC look cheap!  But requesting that [partial] refund didn't exactly feel good (I'm told the right thing rarely does), and I've been living vicariously through the HB badazznezz in this thread so evidently displayed by you all.

In fact, I owe you guys some thanks because this was an experiment in "giving back" which I am trying to do in a number of areas of my life where in the past it had become dangerously overly self-involved (unofficial BT IMCdA coach, volunteering at a substance abuse recovery group, etc, driving someone to/from harrisburg/baltimore for an every-other-week appointment they otherwise couldn't make, etc)... and you guys made it easy and enjoyable.  So thanks for helping me along my own journey, even if lining up on the start line wasn't part of it this year.  I have little doubt that someday soon I'll be racing along side of a few of you somewhere.

Group hug (always dangerous with a bunch of HBs).

You rock Josh!!  You will be there in spirit with us!!  Glad to hear things are working out in your personal life.  That is much more important!!
