My buddy Ken who is 73 and was the other swimmer from our club at the meet must tipped them off. ETA: they don't mention that 2 of the records were simply because I was the first in my AG to do the events at a meet. Awesome! Shane |

They were texting me update pictures as they built it. I really don't want to go to work today, but luckily I get off at 1:30 and I'll head straight over to the bike shop! Sweet! We are going to need pics. |

That's pretty light - you've gone into the chain in the seattube to meet weight requirements territory. Enjoy the new bike - now you'll be leading over the top of the climbs instead of just being 3rd wheel Shane |

At some point he asked my wife to check the score of a hockey game on her iphone and she requested a cookie for me as payment. That was shortly before the 1500 and I went faster than expected so it was probably laced with something. Do you normally eat cookies? There is a good reason I eat them rather frequently. I linked to a long ride a good ways back. I seriously only ate cookies and string cheese provided at the stops and ended up being 1st around at that distance. There are two things that I have uncontrollable urges to eat if they are present in the house. Cookies and chips. For that reason, they are rarely present in the house. I'm with you but also, since my daughter was born, I've also been reminded that crackers are very tempting, especially in the evening. I tried to tell Alexis we'd have no crackers so daddy wouldn't eat them but she thought that was a bad idea. Shane |

I agree, having kids means that there are a lot of foods that make it into the house to tempt us. One thing I do when I am trying to be good is buy the treats that my kids like but I don't. For example (and don't flame me for this) I detest Oreos. That is the cookie that I keep in the house. Every couple of weeks I make a batch of fresh baked choc chip cookies when my kids have friends over, now those I love but only end up having one or 2 because the kids eat the rest! |

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN brigby1 - 2013-04-25 12:28 AM Masters was fun. We've been on meters for a bit and will be for a while because of a change in season or something. Actually able to control a descending set of 100's. Hit about a second faster each time from 1:29 down to 1:24, and still felt in control on the last one (didn't have to kill myself). Also found out that I've been put in a relay for Saturday, 200 free. I'm easily the turtle of the group as the other 3 are some of our fastest swimmers, but somehow it works out best to put me there with age groups. Another faster guy wants to relay, but is 29 which puts the group into a much more competitive field (2 others are 35-39, and 1 is 41). I only drag it down to 30-34. Another set of our guys are doing it, but all are over 40, so somehow this all makes sense in trying to get us the most points. 29 yr old is going in an entirely different relay type. Very nice - must've felt good. Doesn't sound too turtle-y to me (then again, I've seen turtles swim REALLY fast) Hope you crush the relay - good luck! Matt |

Lays potato chips are brutal… Never have those in the house anymore! What gets me is the cookie dough. uuuuuhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cookie dough ETA: I wonder if cookie dough without any egg or spoilable stuff would make for good long ride food. Hmmmm…... Maybe it won't hurt as bad as Sufferfest did. Plus now that we have a move date to a place I can actually bike outside at I need to get ready! |

But they spelled meter wrong And not just once, but 5 TIMES!!!! Sincere congratulations, Arend, I was actually thinking about your 1500 while I was at the pool this morning. Your 1500 pace is spot-on my wide-open-gut-busting-sprint 25 pace. So all I gotta do is get to where I can do that 59 more times back-to-back and then it is GAME ON! Piece of cake. And awesome, now I want a piece of cake. |

Plus now that we have a move date to a place I can actually bike outside at I need to get ready! Awesome about the move date - that is going to be very good for you! Interested to hear how the TR challenge goes. From the email it sounds as if it will feature much more "balanced" riding than the tour of Sufferlandria seemed to. |

I would even be interested in hearing how you guys are planning to organize the order of your individual legs? I don't quite know how fast the other 3 are to each other, but if the order listed is what we do, then I'm guessing we're leading off with the fastest guy likely because he'll be the best at starting off the blocks. I'm not sure the 2nd guy can hardly jump and the first guy is clearly the shortest, so easiest to get over. I go 3rd because for some reason that's where the slow guy goes. 4th guy seems highly motivated by competition, so is likely to make up any ground. Edited by brigby1 2013-04-25 12:24 PM |

It has me thinking about doing an all-comers track meet every now and again. Actually one of my teammates just asked me if I would. There will be nothing quite like having my soul crushed doing a 5000 on the track. Or worse, a 1500! |
