Dee,

When I figured my goals I forgot to factor in a taper for my race on May 2. Can I back down my goals a little?

Thanks.

I have been MIA for awhile, but it was mostly planned.  I knew that I would miss a week of workouts, but it turned into 1 1/2 weeks.  I am slightly behind on my goals, but should still be able to hit 100% by the end of the month.

Tonight I did 3 mile jog with the dog.  We both did pretty good.  Smile

I will have to go back and catch up on the thread later.  Gotta shower and finish dinner!

D001 - 2010-04-19 8:38 PM Well, if I hadn't withdrawn from the challenge yesterday, I would have had to do it today.... I was coughing so badly that I went to the doctor. (Believe me, that doesn't happen often.) I have bronchitis, sinus and ear infections. Maybe this is why I've felt stuffed up and tired? Hm.....

Bummer   Hope they gave you some good drugs!
Oh, they did! All sorts of 'em.

Hope you are feeling better!

miche033 - 2010-04-18 6:14 PM well, my week started terrible... cold, coughing, not working out, going to the gym and just showering, feeling like a dork... but I made up for it with back-to-back workouts this weekend, including my first bike ride in months!! i had to change my front tube twice before i even got out the door. and then i forgot my helmet, thinking all the way down the block, "something's missing... what is it...?" pathetic. but done!

LOL  It does take a little adjusting to get back out there!

Glad you are feeling better!

MDHillSlug - 2010-04-12 9:33 AM Good morning.

I ran. Sorta. I hate to admit it but my right heel seems to be acting up again. I ended up doing some walking. I have to figure out how to keep moving cautiously forward. I'll back off on the running if I have to, but I don't to have to. Darn!

So, for my ride yesterday I used new pedals I just got from REI with my dividend. I ached in a few ways I hadn't experienced before so I'm now wondering if it was because of the pedals and if the pedals have set off my heel. What do you think?

How's your heel doing?  Have you tried the new pedals again?

I imagine that you are stretching.  But one stretch that seems to help keep heel & PF at bay:  Stand on a step with heels hanging out off of the step (bottom step with something to hang on to Wink ).  Raise up on the toes for about 3 exhales, then lower heels below the step for 3 exhales.  Repeat 3 - 5 times.  You can do them 3 or 4 times a day but only a few at a time.

Hey team - I am here and been working out just not being able to post on the thread. According to how much of the month is gone I am behind but I have it planned out to make it to 100% and I am right on track.

Let's go team - lets get some workouts in. The weather is nicer here (getting rain for a few days this week) so lets get out and enjoy it.

I'm doing 600mg of ibuprofen 3x/day and icing my heel and it's doing a lot better.

I took my other bike out last weekend so I've only been on the new pedals the one time.

The step stretch is a really good one but I haven't been doing it regularly.

Morning!  It's spring break here so I have been busy with the kids.  Off to the doctor this morning and then we are going to go to the beach to walk and play in the sand as long as it isn't raining.  If I dip my toe in, can I claim it as an OWS?

I go back to the podiatrist tomorrow.  Maybe I can get some pain relief!

Oops!  I just updated a week's worth of workouts so we're sitting a little better now.

It's been a good weekend so far.  A run, couple of rides, placed 2nd at a 10k, swimming and running later today

Great race Neal!

Good luck at the doc this morning...a visit for the kiddo I'm guessing?  Oh, what I would give to drag a foot through the sand...I love the beach!  You can dip a toe and run a couple of circles around the kiddos while they play...then you've done a brick

Good luck at the podiatrist tomorrow!

Yup, Cole is sick again (still?).  Got some antibiotics and prednisone for him and a referral to a pediatric pulmonologist.

We had a lovely time at the park.  Ran around and played lacrosse.  Fun until my foot screamed.  But, it felt so good to run!  Went to the beach and hung out for awhile.

Now, I'm going to take a nap.

This is a workout right?  not a race?  So do you have/wear a wetsuit?  Just curious.  I have been thinking about going to a local lake, but I don't own a wetsuit.  I am not sure I could handle the cold without one.

Hola Team B!

I am typing while on a siesta break in Oaxaca Mexico.  My daughter has been  here since January on a semester in Mexico program with Univ of VT.  She is done her classes now and I arrived yesterday and will be staying 9 days.  We will fly home together.  I got a 3 mile run in this morning.  It is cool in the early morning but the altitude took some getting used to.  Today we have probably walked 6-8 miles sightseeing and shopping in the markets.

I'm on the same stuff that Cole is. Bronchitis, ear infections, etc. Taking prednisone, antiobiotics, albuterol and some nasal stuff. Feeling horrible, I'm having a reaction to something.

I'm not even thinking about running. I tried walking up a flight of stairs, and was huffing like a 6 pack a day smoker....

Yeah, this is a swim practice. One of the local race organizers is running it at a lake. Unfortunately, it'll take over an hour to get there and I need to be there no later that 7:45am!

I've got a BlueSeventy full wetsuit, neoprene hood, and booties.

Well, I overdid it with squats and lunges on Wednesday, and I'm only just walking normally today.  I swear, if you can die from too many squats, then I had a near-death experience.  Anyway, that has put a damper on my fourth goal--I didn't even want to do yoga.  I have added some swimming and will exceed the swimming goal, but will not meet my fourth goal (strength train/yoga).  If my overall goal is at least 100% will that be OK?  Or, do I have to start pumping iron for three straight day to not let everyone down--How does this work?

Chilly!  I learned that some of those instant heat pads under the arms and in the groin area will warm you up right quick after an early season swim.  Have fun!

x2.  Cole is on day 3 of the prednisone and isn't any better.  I hope you are fairing a bit better.  He about threw up yesterday when he took the pill.  They taste nasty and he can't seem to swallow it without tasting it.   His albuterol isn't helping either.  Maybe you both have a super virus/infection???
