And are we still having Gator for breakfast? Haven't heard anything more about it. I did hear something about they hired some guy to clean up the weeds in the river. A co-worker told me he heard it on one of the local radio stations. Apparently they are paying some guy $5000 to hand pick the weeds. I think it is funny because many of those weeds are 3' - 4' from the surface. Just deep enough to kind of freak you out. That alligator could be lurking in those weeds.... Ha,ha- I would love to go out to the river and eat lunch and watch some dude hand pick all the river weeds. That my friends is some funny stuff. Glad they are taking the race seriously though. And btw- I rode my bike through downtown on Sunday. It was hot and humid and totally reeked. Smelled like trash and sewage in certain spots. Anyone else notice this? The run might have some interesting smells- ugh. I noticed the smell, too. We went to Arts in Heart Saturday and parked in the BOE parking deck and a strong smell of garbage was all through the air. Hopefully, Sunday will not be as bad. I hope it is less humid than last weekend. It is supposed to be a little cooler. |

Do I need to put pontoons on my bike??? fortunately we are all good here (one of the very rare times i'm glad i live in augusta instead of atlanta...) we've had some rainfall the past week, but really nothing big. the swim should be nice still, so long as no more poo gets washed into the river. |

Thanks,Bill Burke, Race Director, Premier Event Management I hope they don't cancel the swim!!!!! Our weather has been fine and they only reason why they'd cancel the swim is because of the sewage leak. Which to my understanding that has been going on for awhile. I've been swimming in the river almost every weekend for the past few weeks and I haven't gotten sick. So I would think that the water is ok. Guess we'll just have to wait and see... |

Expert 1143 Wellington, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Augusta : Official Thread Hrliles, thanks for thinking about me..lol Been doing well, into my taper with last LONG effort last thrus with a 13mi run. Avg 9:22mi. Did the Vidalia Onion Sprint on Sat. last FULL out speed work. Race report is up. Did well, 2nd AG, 7th overall. Avg 22.2 on the bike in running shoes and backets. Totaly cooked it on the bike pushing hard to see what I had and how long I could hold it on the run. Ran 7:26 pace for the 5K on a hilly run course. HR Maxed but felt good with effort and power. Then had to fly to Paris Sunday night. Did a 6mi easy recovery run in Paris yesterday, very nice. Down the river, around Notre Dame, back past the Louvre, past the Plaza da Concorde, then over the bridge by the Eiffel Tower and back to the hotel. 30mi recovery ride today, just easy. Then my last swim tomorow, about 1/2-3/4mi in wetsuit. Massage tomorrow afternoon at 2pm, then driving over to Augusta Fri morning. Planning on doing the 12 or 1pm race breifing, then hanging around the expo for a bit, one last drive of the bike course, then off to the monster-in-laws in Aiken for the night. Hope everyone else is doing well? Stay safe and healthy, see you all this weekend!!! and remember to take it ALL in and enjoy it. The smells, sights and sounds of it ALL!!! Its a fricken M-Dot race you guys!!! FM |

Heck yes it is! I've been spending WAY too much time on BT this week. I can go about 10 minutes before I start thinking about the race. My work ordered me a custom jersey and it just came in so there goes my concentration again. |

Steve Everyone, Take a deep breath. No really, right now. Breath in deep. Hold it for 5 seconds. SLOWLY let it out. You have trained for the race. Let race day be a celebration of all your hard work. |

Expert 1143 Wellington, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Augusta : Official Thread Talk about crazyness....every IM ive done ALWAYS has something happened a few days before the race to "test me". Last year I broke my seatpost ring 4 days before IM Fla 70.3 and had to scramble around to fine another. This spring I got a flat on my second to last training ride. And not to be out done...TODAY, I pumped to tires (new continentals GP 4000, 100mi. on them) and went inside to fill my water bottles. Bike was in the sun leaning on the car. Took some mail down to the mailbox, as Im walking back up the driveway...POW!!! My back tire goes off like a M-80!!! The tube blow so hard to blow the tire off the wheel for about 10inch. So...dont forget to let some air out of your tires before leaving it in transision on sat to bake in the sun all day....POW!! Not good. Tube was about 8 months old so better now then on race day...5-7min delay starting my ride to change tube, alls good, ride was great and I can exhale...ahhhhhhh. FM |

I was not nervous at all about this race and have trained on this course for quite sometime, so I have had it my my head that it is like any race I have done this year, but after reading all your comments about being nervous you are now FREAKING ME OUT!! Just kidding, I am treating this like any other race except bringing on some extra nutrition. Newbie ignorance or zen master? |
