Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Socks - get well soon! As far as races planned... I started, but did not finish, the LoneStar 70.3 in Galveston... a groove in the pavement on San Luis Pass prevented that finish. So the next day, I signed up for IMKansas 70.3 on 6/12. Am planning to do Redman Full AquaBike in September, as well as a couple shorter tris. Also have a number of century bike rides on the schedule. Be safe everybody, and make sure you tell those important ones in your life how much they mean to you... you never know what can happen. |

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Rode my last 100 miler yesterday in preparation for my Friends IMTX. Yea he owes me. I also did it a few times last year so they didn't have to ride alone. Difference is he is running 18 miles to day and I am not Just putting favors in the bank because none of them will be training for an IM when I am in the depths of training so I'll need some peeps to ride with me. have a great day! Good steady progress for me this month and that was with a family trip to Disney at Spring Break (an endurance event in itself where you need to practise pacing, nutrition and hydration). I've now finally got to a month with a green 'race day' blob in it (Columbia Triathlon) - so I'm excited about that. Then Eagleman 3 weeks after. Won't turn to specific IMFL training until after that race. How is everyone else doing ? Adrian |

Auctioning off the right to shave my head that weekend, in honor of my sister now fighting breast cancer... seems like there is ALWAYS a fight somewhere. Good luck on the Tri. |

Regular 165 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I see some folks in this group doing Augusta at end of September. One person doing Rev3Anderson a couple weeks later. I'm looking for a good warm up race prior to IMFL. Was thinking about signing up for Augusta, but already did a WTC 70.3 (69.0 = IMNO) race. Anyone think the Anderson race is too close (4wks) to the big show? This will be my first IM race, so don't want to blow up. |

Veteran 260 Hong Kong | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Augusta was great last year. Rain was a blessing, made it nice and cool. The bike course is beautiful, rolling hills (not bad even for me coming from Savannah where all I have is a few bridges) farm country, obviously the swim is easy, going with the current on the Savannah river. Run is flat as a pancake and support was fantastic! This year I'll be doing Cancun 70.3 also in September. It is ocean swim with a brake in the middle for a second loop. Flat bike course and run course. It's going to be hot but I'll be training in summer anyway. It will give me a week or two more before IMFL than Augusta. If anyone plans on doing the Augusta bike course before, let me know, I'll join you, it is really nice. Just finish St. Anthony's. It is a beautiful race, a true Triathlon party! Swim course always a challenge but that's part of the fun! |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread If you go look at last years thread on Augusta you will see that one of the people who live in Augusta took the time and actually filmed the bike course and broke up the film in several segments. The rain was a blessing. I will have to say it was a great race and great course all around. It was a blast!

30 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I did Augusta 70.3 last year and the race was great. It sucked that it quit raining in the afternoon and got really humid (during the run) but other than that it is a great warmup for IMFL. The only reason I am doing Rev3 is because I love the series and it is closer to me in ATL than Augusta is. There is a bit more elevation than Augusta, but a race is a race. If you are looking for a course that tracks more closely to FL, Augusta would be your choice. Less elevation on the bike than Anderson and pancake flat run course, similar to FL. I don't think there would be a problem with the race being 4 weeks out from race day, as that probably is the beginning of most people's taper. I would say though if you do Anderson or Augusta and you feel injury onsetting during the bike or run, I may well just DNF the race so that I can rest and heal for IMFL. No point ruining yourself 4-5 weeks from the race and not being able to recuperate in time for the big day. Andy... |

Up until last week I thought the Atlanta area was flat. I spent last week up there, well a little north in Marietta. Holy cow! There wasn't one flat spot in the area. It was either up or down. And usually not just a small elevation. I gained new respect for anyone training in that area! enjoy, Duane |

A lot of my training partners are going to Texas in a few weeks - kind of wish I was going. This waiting until November is killing me enjoy, Duane |

Veteran 294 Lake Spivey, GA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I was just in PCB for the GCT. We stayed at the Boardwalk. I reviewed our stay on my blog. While the Boardwalk wasn't great, being close to the swim start saved my bacon. There was a good bit on inconvenience with it staying at the venue for the race. I'm sure this will be amplified in Nov. for IMFL. The Summit looks close enough to be convenient but far enough away to not impact your non-race activities. The pix of the room look very nice. You can rest assured that these are the best pix. they could take. Good luck I hope it's nice. |

See you in Augusta - it will be my third trip there and third to IMFL, Doing 70.3 Florida this weekend and IM Texas next weekend - I did some very poor planning this year. |
