Oh I may hate getting into this but just an observation I stumbled upon this winter.

I use a Garmin but am not a slave to it.  There are plenty of times when I run by feel and w/o a watch or pace.  I even did a long stretch of training on RPE last year.  And then this winter I decided I wanted to get faster so I paid a little more attention to my HR when I was training and realized that when I felt my RPE was 5-6, I was actually in the low Z1/2 range.

Basically my brain thought I was working harder than my body actually was.  I picked up the pace and over a few weeks I was running faster on my training runs with less effort.

I guess my point is it can be good to use all of the tools available and listen to your body but they all serve as a checks and balance for each other.  You shouldn't just rely on one piece of the puzzle.

Hahaha, these conversations are cracking me up!

I, too, love The Office!  BUT I hate Will Farrell!  So, I am having some issues.  We shall see...

Friends off!!!

Seriously how can you hate WF? I will admit he has become a bit too sensationalized the last few years, but the SNL days and his first few movies were awesome.

cmon now - Night at the Roxbury, Old School, Wedding Crashers and Elf. I love Elf...when he is in the department store and that security guy says Santa is coming, and he gets so excited? Cmon Erica thats good stuff.

How about Ryan. Does Ryan like him?

Another one bites the dust.

2 out of 4 races I signed up to do this year have been cancelled.  The one that was moved due to snow is still on at it's new date but the one that was supposed to be on April 2nd, then got moved to April 30th, is now cancelled...

Haha!  Neither of us like him, actually.  We agree that his best movie role to-date is in The Producers, and he wasn't really great in that either.  I also liked Curious George, but that's because I just love children's movies anyway (ask Ryan about me watching Land Before Time during a trainer ride a couple weeks ago).  Elf was okay, but I can't help but feel like there's ALWAYS someone better to play the parts he's casted in.  To me, he never plays a role, he just plays WF.

To each his own!

True. He always plays the same character. Like just the Adam Sandler's of the world. As soon as the try to do something different(ie. Drama's Punch drunk love) they flop. WF is smart in the sense that he knows what sells and hasn't strayed far from it , yet.

FYI, I just burned Curious George into Itunes. Girls are headed out of town this weekend, and bride wanted me to put a few movies on the Ipad.

Aw sniff, sniff - Curious George was the first movie we took Drew to see (4-5 years ago).  Now he's almost in 2nd grade and I am taking him to see Hop tomorrow.

And Old School is awesome!  Ear muffs was a line used regularly in our house. And let's see what else ... "always watching, always judging", "my boy, BLUE!", and so on.

I do also love Elf.  Elves believe in eating from the 4 food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

And how can you forget - Ricky Bobby.  Shake 'n Bake, baby!  If you're not first, you're last!

LOL to all.......I'm so lucky I don't have a job.

Spent an insane amount of time at the Apple Store explaining why I couldn't wait for a replacement nano - can't run without music!!  Training without a Garmin would truly take me down.

Garmin may just be more critical than Pepsi.  Maybe.

I can. I'm deaf. Don't need music. Silence is better. :-P

I have an old nano that is just sitting there collecting dust. Do you want it ... for cheap? Nano 3rd Gen, in pink.

Thanks, DJ - I appreciate it - but I DID get a replacement.  Mine had just tanked for no good reason.

Hey No racing here. First running race of the season locally was two weeks ago. Next one is April 16th.. then the season picks up around here. I doubt I will be doing that one either.

Injury and poor weather has me set back and depressed that is for sure. Although I was happy to run last week even though two of them were 2.5km and the third one was 3 km. With walking warm up and cool down and over all very slow pace running. I tried to run saturday after spending 5 hours in a car.. not smart I was in pain 500 yards into the run and had to stop and walk home. Sunday lots of stretching and loosening to make sure my knee tracked properly then managed to do the 3 km run. So I have some hopes.

Weather is starting to make it possible to get out on the bike now that is is 36 F out with signs of low 40's for this weekend. Layer up and ride.

I am interested to know more about this RESET thing. I have been stuck at 215lbs for about 4 months now with no luck at budging after Months and months of loosing weight. Officially 64 lbs down From April 1 2010 and 50 lbs since I started training to do a triathalon.

I have tried zig zagging calories, Changing foods, changing times I work out. I tried eating a lot one day hoping to reset.. all I did was go up 2 lbs for a few days. I have considered Fasting but just haven't tried yet.

Maybe I need to change something else dramtically. Any ideas or thoughts.

I can't wait to be able to truely run again. And get back to some races.. My A race is now The TomatoMan Sprint Triathlon June 18th originally started by my wife's boss in his back yard. And this year it is a championship race and a qualifier for the 2012 Worlds. Congrats for them getting it sanctioned... and no I am not worried about qualification.. I just want to be able to finish it.

Try have a good salad for breakfast instead of your usual breakfast. You can add some cheese, veggies and or fruit to get your nutrition but it will not fill you completely. also you can workout within about an hour of eating. The lettuce holds lots of water so it also provides you with good hydration after a night of not drinking anything.

If you weren't such a fast runner, you would easily make 40.  It ain't about quantity, it's quality. And you have that nailed.

Jeez.  Missed the 40 hour mark by 9 minutes and 56 seconds.  I'm sure I mis-calculated somewhere.  Cool

Biggest run month ever, yea!  Did today's run in racerback top - and not enough sunscreen - but it felt so nice to be out in the sun!

I don't want to post my totals.  It's too upsetting after how good February was for me!  Also, I've taken this entire week off of everything because my knee has still been sore after my swims and bikes.  It's not the sharp pain like it was when I was running, but just a stiffness.  I hope this is normal, but I'm resting it for like a week totally just in case.

Just hoping I'll be okay to build up for the HIM.

Bike: 21h 18m 47s - 420.65 miles

Run: 10h 04m 10s - 62.14 miles

Swim: 13h 13m - 32600 yds.

Strength: 20m (with one more session tonight)

Yoga: 1h 15m

And each month so far in 2011 I have increased each of my SBR month-to-month. AND my total run miles for 2011 is less than Kim's for March!
