Giant spiders are fine though?

I <3 them.

And any kind of lizard, even ones sufficiently gecko-like so as to be mistaken for them, but JUST NOT GECKOS.

Wow. I wrote it twice. I am so awesome.

In other news, I am making infinitesimal steps of progress in dealing with my phobia ... I can't even see a proper therapist or anyone like that about it because I am so afraid that I'm even afraid to deal with it.

However, teeny tiny steps. I think I posted a (very blurry and half-hidden view) pic of one from the zoo in Perth.

This is my little friend on the wall behind my couch. It is my little friend because it eats ants and mosquitoes.

CUTE! LaughingLaughing

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Yes! We are off THAT page!

Of course, I wrote it here again on this page, twice, but at least there's no pic. *shudder*

You know, I love my parents....but seriously, I am feeling like a terrible daughter right now, cause I keep thinking how much I DON't want to be responsible to do all the everyday care... >sigh<

Last night, I got a call from Sleep Train Arena security (our NBA venue, she works for the Sacramento Kings occasionally) telling me my mom had fallen and hurt herself pretty bad. She was taken to a occupational hospital center to be checked out cause her hip was painful. So I called her and checked in. She assured me she was 'just fine' and that the Kings people would bring her home, bring home her car, etc...I said fine and called my dad...He was insistent that he would need her car THIS MORNING, and he was all clear to drive again (thanks to heart stuff and operations, he was barred from driving recently)...I told him the car would be dropped off and that I could get him to pick up meds today. At that point after being assured all was well, Clint and I went to the movies (see? terrible daughter again) to see "Man of Steel"). As the credits rolled, I found 6 phone calls had missed me! It turns out that Mom's boss had called with an update--she apparently had possibly broken her hip and was taken to a closer hospital, and Dad called because he couldn't find her cell! I called him back and we went to get her car, then called her boss and checked in with him, then came home...I haven't heard anything new as of yet, but it looks like she will be off her feet for awhile, and Dad may or may not put off some procedures to insure he can drive. I told him to do what needs to be done and I would take them where they need  to go...but we'll see.

I am worried about them, as they are both very stubborn, and I want to make sure I can be there for them, but by the same token, I feel really awful as I am somewhat resentful of possibly having to drop everything to take care of them. ug.

Thanks.  I just talked to my Dad, he hasn't heard anything concrete for today, but as of last night, Mom said they found a definite break, and they were keeping her at the hospital definitely over night and possibly a few days longer. Of course my Dad was already saying "I guess I'll need to reschedule all my stuff" at which point I told him that he did NOT and I would help out in every way, that another friend of theirs was also mobilized and ready, AND their neighbors would also help out....Like I said...stubborn. I have instructed him to call me once he hears ANYTHING, and then we can figure out next steps. At least I have weekends, so I can easily help out now.

That is such a tough situation to be in, and I wish there was an easy answer - there's just not.

I'm in the position of possibly picking up and moving to Arizona in the next couple of years to make sure that my parents have family close by when they're at their winter home - especially with my dad's memory starting to get squidgey.

{{{Hugs}}} to you, you have my sympathy as well.

Wishing your Mom a Speedy recovery.  Nothing wrong with how you are feeling.  I think it is awesome that you can write it down, and admit it.  I suspect that a lot of people would be scared of those feelings.  I have a feeling you will deal with this in a healthy manner and come through this stronger.  Not that the road won't be tough - but you will be ok.  Feel free to "vent" here.  You have a pod full of "shoulders" to cry on if you need it.

Do you have a gmail or G+ account? If so, someone will invite you into the super secret Order of The Manatee. OK, it is simply a Google community, not really super secret or anything, but a bit on the private side.

Chad, I sent a maybe. I have a B-Day dinner with my MIL and then a trip to the Y. If I am back in time, I'll get logged in.

Hands Marie - we are planning on doing a Google Hangout (video call) so we can hear each others "accents"..  Activate Google + (Google's version of Facebook) and post your gmail - we will send you an invite to the Super Secret order of the Manatee...it is a private group - though not much of a secret..

Christ - if it doesn't work out - post a general time that will work - and we might have to modify it.  considering what an active bunch the Manatee's are - we may have to do a hangout at midnight on Friday!

*****************************

Day 2 of Ab challenge is done.

Off to my sons first swim practice!  Yippeee!

And I have the exotic accent (LOL) but will unlikely be on the hangout coz I'm at work - and it's another biatch of a day - China.

We are just going to have to schedule a hangout for 1:00 a.m. or so my time.. (most likely I'll be good and drunk when that happens though, because that is way, way past my bedtime!)  Of course, being a bit drunk might make it a really fun hangout.

Ooooo maybe we should "hangout" and drink!

Ugh, I am so sorry. I definitely have some similar situations and feel your pain.

It seems as though our parent's independence/stubbornness/pride is worth their own safety, to them, sometimes ...

In all seriousness - if you activate the Google + page (join or whatever they call it) - we will send you an invite to join the Super Secret Order of the Manatee!  (Thanks for the name Chris - I love it)...

Then - if you are online, joining the "hangout" will be a matter of clicking a button.  I think your computer will "ring" and you answer it...then we are all in a video conference...

Anyways - here is a picture I took tonight.. Love how this came out.

Here is the Youtube Video: I cut a 1 hour practice down to a bit under 6:00 minutes.  They did everything - flip turns, starts, kick sets, pull sets - I was impressed with my little guy.  He has never done anything like this, and he rocked it!

Very cool!  Congrats to your little guy, that 200 looked HARD!

Plus there is someone in the challenge who teaches and she is posting her workout each Monday in the forum.

'Skrat - I TOTALLY understand about the abs thing, I went to get out of bed this morning and it took a moment or seven for me to be able to stand up straight.  The picture of your son is fabulous - you should definitely be a proud papa!

Kirstin - That sounds like a completely reasonable way to bring new shoes home and I intend to employ the exact same method either today or tomorrow.

Judi - HUGE CONGRATS on qualifying for AG Nats!!

Jen - go have fun on your bike, but definitely hydrate, it's all kinds of grossly humid outside today.

Yantilicious - LOVE your outfit for your run today - no one can pull off looking like Rainbow Bright on a daily basis like you can!

OMG, that commercial is awesome! I haven't seen that one before.

Day 3 of abs are done. Still waiting on definitive info for my Mom--I called my dad and asked him if he'd heard from her his words were "nothing yet, but she's still recovering from surgery" WAIT, WHAT???? Surgery? I then had to repeatedly ask him what he meant--he finally relayed, after quite a few little jokes (my dad deals with stress through humor) that she was getting surgery to put the hip pieces back together, and she was probably still groggy/incoherent. okay, but nothing else???? Eeesh. Thankfully, he did remain at home long enough for his in-home nurse to stop by for his check up. I am sure he is stressing a bit, so its hard to comprehend/pass on all and any info, but this is somewhat frustrating. I have been waiting for a call all morning, so all I have done has been my abs stuff and watching tv...I really need a shower. I know t.m.i. Anyway, I shall take a shower get some groceries bought, then, hopefully, figure SOMETHING out....

It is so past my bedtime, but I was so excited to make a video of my son's first ever swim PRACTICE, that I could not go to bed without working on it.  I am such a proud father right now, more proud than I've ever been.  These are the things that matter in life, not crazy ladies yelling at me in the parking lot over crappy wine.  :)

This is way cool.  My kids say they're ready for swim team, but I don't know if I'm ready for swim team;)  I'm hoping that we can make it happen this fall.  Super awesome Skrat.  And, btw, everytime I see pictures of where you live it makes my heart ache a little bit--so pretty!

(To your earlier questions, I live in Iowa and my name is Elesa, but I'm very cool with Switch.)

OK, I'm going to see if I can google+ so I can "hang out"

:( I'm so sorry Kate.  This sounds super hard.  Big hugs to you.

And good job on getting those abs knocked out :)
