What was the point of showing the finishing line for 30-40 minutes?

Hey no Shiz! Other then Kona this is the first IM that I've watched online and I don't want to sound like a whinny b_itch but this coverage blows. They should know that only family, friends and die hard triathlon fans are gonna watch it so they should provide full coverage with commentary of the event. It's gonna really suck to just see the winners cross the line without any analysis on their performance.

To ensure that Ford advertising dollars get the air time they promised them??

I mean looks what's going on and we're missing it:

Close race, anyone?

RACETIME: 08:14

How's this for exciting -- through 23 miles this race is getting crazy!

JAMES BONNEY (#4) is in the lead. Then we have:

* TJ TOLLAKSON (#33) at 24 seconds
* JORDAN RAPP (#24) at 1:24
* JOZSEF MAJOR (#2) at 1:44
* RENE GOEHLER (#28)

This is why tv coverage on triathlons is so poor. They "say" the interest isn't there, but perhaps if they covered it better, people would be more interested. Hearing a Mike Reilly sound check is a barrel of laughs isn't it?

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but does anyone know where Doughboy is at on the course?  No 2nd bike split yet, and if he isn't through the 2nd loop, the cutoff time is looking very daunting.  GO STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My goodness, lot's of discussion.  When I was here last we were only up to 9 pages.

Can someone sumarize quickly the last dozen pages?  What happened to Aaron?  Did Chris's chip problem get worked out?  Who's in, who's out?

The interest isn't there.  It's still a niche sport.  It's huge to us, but nobody else particularly cares or would watch.  TV's about ratings.

Aaron had fueling issues on the bike and had to walk the first bit of the run. Last I heard he was running again though.

Sounds like it's a close one for the men coming in...go James Bonney--Texas boy (plus I saw him getting dressed for a ride in the J&A's parking lot the other day...it was nice).

Aaron couldn't hold down any nutrition after the bike, so his coach told him to walk it in.  He has started running again, but wull have a rough afternoon I'm afraid.  We haven't heard anything else about ChrisM.

No kidding.  It's FREE coverage.  To their credit, it's usually bad but not this bad.

My sister is out there supporting docshock.  I just talked to her and she said doughboy had 3 flats and some issues with a cleat on his bike shoe and has dropped out.  Tough day for him and dodgersmom.  I feel horrible for them.

Docshock is a few miles into the run and apparently is smiling and looking good

Steve (doughboy) dropped out just before SN (about mile 54) with mechanical problems.  He had three flats and then lost a cleat somehow.  He said the winds were brutal.  Both Steve and Marcy are doing well and are planning on signing up for next year!!
