Thought I should say hi in this thread. I am a steady BOPer and will be doing IMKY as my first Ironman ever. I have been watching this thread just never had anything worth while to add, but enjoy reading and getting tips from everyone else.

I should log my workouts but I am logging them on Polar's website and my PC. I can barely keep track of what lap I am on far less log it in three different places. All I know is that I am slow and need to do more!

BT is awesome.  When you start blogging, it will be more fun.  It's hard to leave someone an inspire me when their blog is empty.

Louisville 08 was my first IM.  Although the course is difficult the finish line is worth it.

ha! Then tomorrow I will need to copy over my logs for this year to BT. I knew once I started posting that would just open the flood gate, but BT is a good site to have that happen on.

No - i was just a spoiled little teenager with a private pilots license. Now I try to fly on my bike. Does 12mph count as flying?

So at this point most people should have started their training!  So are we having fun yet?

if you havent' figured it out yet...  Ignore my tips,, they are pretty worthless,, amusing maybe,, unlike bacon which tastes good all the time, and is a key training aid

Why should everyone have started their plans?  It's 26 weeks out.  Obviously you should be upping the training and be getting some good miles in, but i wasn't planning on starting until 20 weeks out.

I think what John is saying is, "I've up my training....now up yours!"

I think 26 weeks is too long to be on specific training program.

I agree! My specific "plan" will start between 18-20 weeks out.

Mine doesn't start until 17 weeks out.  That's the first week of May.  At the moment I'm training for NO 70.3.  Then a month off - April.  Then start IMKY training.

The important thing to remember is that everyone here may have different goals and some of us may have another A race early in the season which we are training for.  The important thing is that we all show up healthy and ready to go for IM Lou. . .   How we get there is an individual journey.

Everyone that is training, keep up the good work. . and for those about to start, get after it and have fun.

x2  Don't worry about other people's training.  We're all different and have different goals.

Hi everyone. Thought I'd come out from under my invisibility cloak and join in the fun. I've enjoyed reading this thread and have found it all very informative.

So being from the UK I'm guessing I'm the only Brit on here that's doing IMKY? Not spotted anyone else anyway.

So how hot was it last year? They way some keep mentioning a sauna I'm guessing it pretty warm! I'm heading out to California for some warm weather training at the end of May to give me at least some taste of warm weather - don't get much over here!. My cousin lives out there and she too is signed up for IMKY.

My official training starts in just under 2 weeks time and I'm ready to get started on it. This too is my first Ironman. Completed my first Half last October in Vegas. That was hot but it was a dry heat. Need to sort my nutrition out better on the bike though as I suffered on the run there!

Anyway, good luck to everyone and hopefully we'll all make it to the start line - and the finish line :-)

I think I have hit a wall swimming (figuratively of course).  It seems lately, I am getting more tired early in the workouts.  Today at lunch, I was out of breath after 50 m!  This happen to anyone else?  If so, how did you get past it?  Did you just keep swimming, or did you take a break from swimming?

Oooh, that reminds me of my favorite fish joke.

Q.  What did the fish say when he swam into a concrete wall?

A.  Dam

RE your question...sometimes you're the windshield and sometime you're the bug.  For me, enery level seems to be a big factor in the pool.  If I go for a really long bike and run on the weekend, my Monday pool performance suffers.
