Thank you thank you thank you, Melanie.  I needed that today.  I'm trying hard to have a better day than yesterday, focusing on gratitude and compassion toward myself and others.  I started my day with this song written by a friend:

Namaste. I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.  I honor the place in me which is of love of truth of light and of peace.  When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one.  Namaste.

(((Hugs))) to all.

ETA:  And some cute puppy pictures.

My son really wants a border collie.  We had a long discussion last night about it.

Do you know much about the breed?

I sent the third picture to my wife.  How could one say no to that.

BC's if you don't give them a "job" and keep them busy, they will make up their own jobs and you might not like them.  They are very smart and remember that most have a strong herding instinct.  Great agility dogs.  PM Kirsten.

Thank you. It's a GREAT combination of style and room...and horsepower lol. Efficiently, not as much as I'd like. That's difficult to find in with AWD.

I never thought I would be driving a car that can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds. I also never thought I would LOVE driving a car.

I'm going to have to offset it all by running even more, I suppose.

I am passionate about fast cars and I have always loved to drive.  Really like your new ride.  I'm currently working with a dealer in Florida to try to purchase this:

That would be something!

Adrienne, I hadn't seen exactly which type you got.

Nice Steve. What year, style 911 is that? I don't know that much about fast cars.

Ben, I got a 2009 WRX.

It's an '07 Carrera S.  Not as fast as my last car but I am sure will be a lot of fun.  Not sure if this deal is going to pan out as they are being difficult to communicate with but if I don't get this one it will be very similar.

Sweet Ride!!! Good Luck, but where does the bike go?

I have one of these for hauling stuff.  Did I mention I like to drive fast?

Steve, don't let your wife see these pictures unless you really want a BC!  3 week-old toddler puppies are way too cute.

My wife is really against the whole dog thing.  I thought the earlier pictures might soften her up but she is afraid she will get stuck doing all the work.  I do not blame her as she did kind of get stuck doing most of the cat work (cats are pretty easy but my son and I admittedly have been a little lax).  I like to think I make up for it by doing all the cleaning and care of our fish tank.

Fish tanks can be a ton of work, that's for sure.  Unless you have a goldfish bowl.  I don't think that would sufficiently make up for not helping with the cats.  The cats might take care of the goldfish for you though...

That Ken Block video is out of control. Man, that indeed, looks outrageously fun. Also I can't stand segways. I would have definitely run him over

Boy! I make a day trip to Taos and you all chat all day!Salty, when I showed DH your car I told him you bought it to get up in the mountains. He said "No, she bought it to get up in the mountains FIRST". Ha! As for running dogs, my running partner is a GSP/lab mix. She's a great running partner and well behaved at home. Her only demand is that we throw the ball, a lot.Mary, I wore my Tri Bella socks for today's run.

Great choice! And great company to support.

My first car (had for 10yrs) was a Corolla. lol  We weren't a "car" family. Then I met J. He had an M3...meant nothing to me except a snobbish BMW driver. I had to turn a blind eye to it. Until we took a trip in it from SanFran to San Diego....it was ba!!s to the walls FUN! Fast, solid, safe...did I mention fast? I got a 4-dr M3 a few years ago that I loved, but really didn't work with two kids and their stuff One day again...one day...

People have lots of good ideas. Is this something that you're just starting up, or are you taking over from someone else? What is the church demographic? That should guide you a lot... Families/singles, age groups, active/non. Do people already participate in regular church-planned activities (ones that aren't health/exercise related)? It could be fun to do "training" for the 5ks in a relaxed, non-competitive way. They can then get the health and group benefit to stick with it til the "big finale".

Haha! I did have all these same thoughts way back when, but largely managed to keep everything in check. Really getting into racing was looking too expensive in a number of ways and while going fast in the car does give a rush it wasn't as nearly as fulfilling when a motor does it vs when I was the motor. For some crazy driving, there are some gas powered go-kart places around here too.

I did manage to resist going for the turbo (a big thing being this was way back when it was the 2.0L vs the 2.5), and that difference later covered the race bike. My little brother went the VW route with the GTi and was really wishing for a race bike much more than I ever wanted a faster car.

PM Kirsten.

Is he already doing a number of activities that he would include the dog with, or would he be trying to work in a number of new things? The latter does happen, but the former would seem to be a bit easier as it's less of a lifestyle change.

Adrienne - Nice new ride!!! I hope it is treating you well and you are breaking it in right. Is it the right combination of style, efficiency, and room? Keep on going up and down those hills and mountains, it is really cool to see from my place in the ultra flat lands.

I know what you mean about the kids.  I had a highly modified Boxster S that I raced a lot and was the most fun of any car I've had to drive.  Had to sell it when my son came along because it didn't have a back seat.

Alas I had to buy this.  But I had it tuned to over 550 horsepower.  Boy, I love cars.  J and I are going to have to chat someday.

Tom, as an athelete, I begin at the "doing activities" point. We go through this at work every year at insurance signup time and fail miserably. It may be beneficial to offer other items as part of the well rounded health approach. Think of things like mental health, nutrition, etc, and (I dread to mention it) insurance and how it can/should be used.

Just some other items to cloud up the whole thing

At my work, they gave everyone a Fitbit and there are prizes for achieving certain levels of activity.  It is interesting to see so many people walking up and down stairs, up and down the hallways trying to click off steps.  One lady figured out she could just sit at her desk and swing her arm.  Hilarious to watch.  But I suspect all of this will stop after the prizes are awarded.

Hahaha! I now have to ask some of my old teacher friends about all the Fitbit FB posting I've seen from them lately. I have a sneaking suspicion it's something like this. Hmmm...but I won't mention the arm swinging tactic.

I'm talking to and supporting those going to the jail and coming back from it. They're pretty traumatized. Also by all the media in their faces. P.S. And the hundreds of armed forces and riot police now amassed. GOD BLESS THOSE who are going. They remind me of the peace people putting flowers in National Guard guns in the '70s.

That is something I can do.

Yanti my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else over there. Such a horrible and seemingly helpless situation. I also want to apologise that Aussies come to your country and too often do stupid, stupid things that totally disrespect your people, your culture, your laws, your country and themselves. I don't know what the answer is for this, I am just very sorry that it happens.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The bogans who do that are aholes back home, too. Yes, they do go reckless here with the cheap vice but they cause problems their own citizens have to suffer too.

My apology is that Indonesia's two top leaders have very quickly forgotten the great friend and assistance they've had countless times in Australia. Tony Abbott is just really good at sticking his foot in his mouth in general but fundamentally he was right.

Bali puts up with the bogans not because their money makes them worth the trouble but because believe it or not the good Aussie visitors outnumber the bad, and a surprisingly high proportion of the Aussie expats here actually are involved in community building stuff. In many cases, they are the spearheads. Wealthy Indonesians do NOT do this kind of stuff. Not many. It's growing but it's not the norm.

Is this a good sign...?

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
