Poor young piglet,  I was his 1st injury.  If there is no bone showing, keep going!!! Isn't that what we Manatees do?  Well it is what I did, at least.

Ouch! ouch! ouch! but way to HTFU and show the new boy what a manatee is made of! :D
Wow. Damn, that looks like it hurts Are those like treadmill burns? Fachmie. That makes my skin hurt just looking at it. Supr

Yes, treadmill burns.  So this is the story:  "we are going to finish our session with some speed work.  I am going to set the treadmill at 7mph and you are going to jump on for 100m then jump to the side for 50m and take total rest then repeat.  1st jump on did not go well.  When I fell, I grabbed the top of the treadmill not to get launched but the mill was still turning.  He was yelling at me to let go and I yelled at him to press the stop button.  I let go because he was not stopping so the bloody one is the result of the launch on to the rug.  The others are just treadmill burns.  My DNA is definitely on that belt.  I couldn't find a comfortable sleeping spot last night but other than the sting of the burn, it won't stop me!!   I am a MANATEE!!!  Fachmie!

Oh for fach's sake!  That sounds horrible.  Do we trust this young piglet?

If you ever want to try the jumping to the side of the moving treadmill thing again--which, quite frankly, I wouldn't blame you ONE BIT for not wanting to ever do again--I put my hands on the rails while getting on and off and I keep my hands on the rails (suspending a bit of my weight with my arms) while I take the first five or six strides back into the run.

That looks like it FACHING HURTS.  I'm sorry you had bad sleep last night:/ I'm glad that it's "merely" a flesh wound, and you don't have torn ligaments or anything.  Cripes!  Take care of you.  Hugs.

Yes, actually I do still trust him.  This was a mistake and after my last training experience I didn't speak up.  I really like this piglet and up until now he has been so great at explaining things and working to improve my strength for running specifically.  When he told me what to do, I thought he was crazy and thought I am totally going to kill myself doing this.  I didn't say anything, trying to be an obedient client.   I should have.  The Mama Hen voice inside my head was saying, never get on a moving treadmill.

I probably would've done okay with my arms on the side bars but he had me put my hands on the middle HR bars to jump on.  I couldn't distribute my weight properly.   I bet he never has another client do that again.  He looked so frightened and freaked out after and felt so bad.  I know his intentions were good and he really would never try to hurt someone.  He is a treasure but we all make mistakes.  I hope this didn't frighten him off.  In 5 sessions with him, I have learned more and gotten so much stronger than I ever did with trainer idiot boy.

I really should check youtube to see if I've gone viral.  I wonder if someone videoed.  America's Funniest Home Video's HERE I COME!! There were tons of people at the gym who witnessed this because we had awful storms last night.  Everyone was inside training.

OK, I totally understand that:) I was a personal trainer for many years, and my hackles go up with the typical male trainer types.  I've seen way too many unsafe idiots.  It sounds like you've already had the pleasure of working with one of them--sorry about that:/   But it also sounds like you have trust developed with new piglet and your gut says good things about him. Good sign.

I hope those injuries heal soon.  Double hugs.

And, btw, I would also love to see that video--but only because I know you're OK :)

Good to see you're (generally) ok and that you still want to keep going with this. For getting on and off at speed, I use the side rails as well, putting a lot of weight on them at first and taking a few strides to get legs up to speed at first. Particularly for fast paces. I'll also take a fairly big leg swing that hits the treadmill pretty solid instead of a first step. Seems to help get to speed more easily.

Anyway it went away as suddenly as it came and now today I just feel out of sorts.  Not even hungry...that means I'm sick.  I'm also very tired.

I will listen to this tired body and take it to bed very early tonight or at least lie on the couch with the blanket.  No run for me.

Hope you're getting better. I'll take the day off when feeling odd too.

I'm glad you're not too badly hurt and way to suck it up and get back on great job.

Also for getting on and off a moving treadmill I use the side bars the same as the others but also put one foot on either side of the belt rather than both to one side, it just feels easier.

Hi everyone sorry that I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks. Between work (which is always crazy busy), uni, DHs op and getting my dogs knocked up it has been a bit of a frantic couple of weeks. Thankfully it should all calm down a bit after this weekend.

So Monday is the first of the month so I am starting my 100 days of abs then and back into my running too. I have 3 weeks of study leave starting Monday too, so that will make it easier.

So well chuffed with that, but am getting really worried about the swim in a few weeks. Not far off sub 20 min, my target for this year

Great run!  Try to relax into the swim.  I know the more worked up I get and the more I try to swim like someone I am not, the worse it gets.  Try to relax and swim your own event.

Yeah ... came home really late on a travel day to a very drunk Mutti ... Kristin was beside herself with worry.

But yes, she is indeed, just very drunk, and puked a lot, and she's all puked out, and we're making sure she replenishes with plenty of liquid and electrolyte beverage

We need to just have a quiet word with the pastor and her church leader friends--somebody watch the booze and her during church meetings and festivities.

I'm sorry, but I find the thought of a quite drunken and puking all over the place Mutti hysterical.

I agree. I just didn't want to be the first to say it!

I hope someone held her hair- I always judge a good friend by that! It's pretty funny though

How'd I miss this Mutti story???? I wanna say that a drunk Mutti is so Fachmie funny...wrong? And her pastor has to help watch her booze intake? Hilarious!

Jo- I judge a good SO in a similar fashion...especially now that I have long hair. Tongue out

I noticed how Yanti kinda sneaked that one in

How am I feeling? Hmmm, other than sleep deprived and sore, good. My boo-boos look much worse now that they are out of shock and capillary blood flow has returned. My nurses bacitracined and bandaged me up so I didn't ooze all over. I look like a burn victim. Good thing I have pants on and not a skirt. I had to roll down my knee-highs so they didn't rub. I noticed I have 2 different knee high colors on (both grey but different shades). I am a big mess and hiding in my office for my safety and everyone else's.

Yes, well, after all the worry and head-holding and hand-holding (SO glad we gave her that pixie haircut a couple weeks ago), my sister and I got into the giggle fits and just could NOT hold it in ... Mutti was most froofled and fruffled and huffled and said, "You think it's funny that I'm sick?" which basically just made us explode more ... the more you try to hold it in, the worse it gets.

Ah, like poor Jogo and her knees, y'gotta laugh, y'know?

We were up pretty late with her.

In other news, all hell has broken loose here and I am feeling really, really overwhelmed. And yes, it's blown up in nearly every area it can--Mutti, her health, my sis, her health, business, financial, household, human resources, legal, etc. We'd reached the furckets by 10am this morning and the day just got nutser from there.

In hindsight it was probably a mistake to work out today, or at least do some of the kind of working out I did (I did cut my bike and run somewhat short ... shot, just shot). Endless day--just barely over now with Mutti finally in bed at 10pm (to stay).

Yeah ... probably a bad day to do the Sheila T workout that includes "sets that I consider the toughest type an athlete can do" and I just love the final parting note about her own experience with it: "I had more yardage planned for this workout, but I broke down in the middle of the session and decided to cut the workout short." Ah, Fachmie, I love this boy. A real piglet, such great heart. Still gave it his all, 10-15 min down (HEY! Awesome! I was only a "few" min back from him on the bike ) to grab his age group and top 10 overall.

Ahhhh, yes. But then there's child's pose and happy baby to make up for it.Smile

Have you tried reverse pigeon?  It's a little easier, but will help get you stretched out until you can do regular pigeon again.

Swim was a complete nightmare, but then went on to smash not only my tri 5km time by 3:09, but my standalone 5km time by 1:29 also. So well chuffed with that, but am getting really worried about the swim in a few weeks. Not far off sub 20 min, my target for this year

Congrats on the run! Why/how was the swim bad? Did you struggle in the water?

We've had a bit of warm weather, so the plants have had a growth spurt. Couldn't get a proper stroke going on, we were swimming through the plants and getting tangled in them. I had a major panic attack and couldn't calm myself down again, swam about 85% breast stroke. It was really tough going. 4 people got pulled out of the swim, including my bro in law. Not fun.

I have a real issue with flora in the water!  I hate seaweed and the like.  I also hate jelly fish - here in silly Australia those things can kill ya.  And then there's the sharks.  I wonder actually why I love OWS at all!

Well done, you got through it.  It's probably the worst you'll deal with so next time will be awesome.  My trick of late when I get those panicky moments (yes I still get them) is to count 100 freestyle strokes and then I'm allowed 25 breaststroke if I need it.  If I don't take it I have to wait for the next 100.  It really focusses your mind on something other than the panic and plantlife etc.

Dude....I should never watch the nature channels late at night.  I saw a special on the Irukandji jellyfish and now I am terrified to ever swim in Australia.  I got stung a bunch during the NYC tri and that was bad enough.

I absolutely love this Madam Yanti - though I have to admit I first read it as "Madman Yanti".  Possibly also appropriate?

"Keep fit, fun, smart, safe"... words to live by if there ever were.
