| Expert 945 Auburn AL | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed Had a great weekend that I thought I would share, as it is a result of the relationships built here. Chris (Jeepguy) and I met in Panama City to train for IM this past weekend and rode the course and did a little running and a lot of drinking...lol and eating. Had a great time but man it was hot down there. Good kick off to the next 3 months of serious training. I know, I know... some of you people are saying...Who the hell is this guy? I'm happy to have finished the 51k, but I will NEVER run a midnight marathon again. I am definitely a morning person and it was without a doubt the toughest mental challenge I have experienced in a race and it took everything I had to barely finish before (or right at) the cut off time. I completely underestimated the difference a midnight start would make. In retrospect, I think the 10k would have been a blast.
Julia- Absolutely amazing! Congratulations, speedy!!! Bruce-Thanks for commiserating on the blisters. I hope yours are healing well and not hindering your training. Luckily, my running shoes didn't put pressure on the same spots on my feet that the blisters were so they didn't cause me any issues. Super happy about that Kim- Congrats on the swim breakthrough! Can't wait to watch you kick azz at IMMOO! Brent- Congratulations! Awesome job!!! Jayne- thanks for sharing... I really like the looks of that safety device and the storage would be awesome too Barry- Sounds like a fantastic weekend! Really cool that you and Chris got together to train. Oh, and who the heck are you!?! |

Yea, I thought it would be a good idea to stay up the two nights before and sleep during the day, so I would be used to staying up all night. After all, we were in Vegas so there was plenty to do all night. Unfortunately, the body doesn't like to change schedules that easy. So, I stayed up all night, but wasn't able to sleep very well or long during the day and got to the race start completely sleep deprived. Had I any inkling to do it again I would just sleep in as long as possible and try to take a nap the evening before the race, rather than staying up all night. It was a great lesson in what not to do. |

And while we are working through that, how something a little easier such as a through explanation of General Relativity and how it applies to the time and space continuum?     MLYLT!!!!

I grew up with five older sisters you would think I would be an expert, but I am more confused then ever. Seems that the second question is much simpler. |

It's pretty cool and more multi-functional and stylish than the hippity hop thing I've been dragging around behind me all summer! It would be especially handy for those of you who do ows in busy public places. Thanks Jayne, love the fact that you can store stuff inside, I wonder if it will fit a blow up raft |

The Hottest Half.  Finished in 2h12m and change.  Made a couple dumb rookie mistakes... lessons learned.   Had an awesome time though and look forward to the next.   Will post RR later... Ooooh, good for you!! Read about that in Runner's World recently and thought it sounded purely torturous!! Danskin Tri was here today, not sure how Miss Julia did... hoping to hear from her at some point!
I'm here! I had a good race this morning, with perfect weather and a lovely swim in the cool, clear water of Lake Washington. What a treat! Great job Brent on your first half! Julia, you are a STINKER!! Let's see, she raced with the elites and placed 4th -- among the elites AND overall. That's 4th out of 2036 people. Averaged almost 21mph on the bike and 6:51 on the run. I'll take Julia's "good race" any day!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been away from my PC for a couple days. Wow!! Awesome job Julia!!!

Only bent the my hand brake a little...this could have been a lot worse..... Guy slowed down and passenger asked if i was ok, they never stopped, I hope they have lots of scratches on thier car. going to order my road ID now...
Scary stuff. Glad to hear that you kept your cool and did not get hurt. |
