I have no idea how they made it that color because the water definitely isn't that blue! Here's another shot with more realistic water color for Sylvan beach

I do normally have to deal with the bar fight when catching the previous wave, this was the first race I was actually in the first wave. It was nice!

hmm.. I wonder where everyone else is?

Awesome.

Ken posted under me.
My first question was how did they make the water look so pretty.  Oh and this is a race right?  Where is everybody?  No fair EvD doesn't have to deal with a bar fight like the rest of us.

Sweet news on the bike. So now bike is good, weather will be good, => Race is going to rock!!

Nicole83 - 2010-06-21 12:46 PM Happy Monday gang!

I love how, when Im' not around, you all actually post about tri-related stuff.    I think I'm a bad influence.

Kim- I'm SO glad that your bike seems to be ok.  That was very lucky.  Now you can stress about the race instead.

Emma- I have a hydration belt that I use whenever I run outside.  It doesn't bother me at all, and I actually don't know how I would run in the FL heat without it.

Dan- that is about the funniest darn finish that I think I've ever heard.  Tell me that we have video, or at least audio?

To all the kids racing this weekend- I don't envy that weather at ALL!  Are you all excited anyway?

Heard from the mechanic this morning and bike is a-ok.  Doing a big no no and getting it overhauled right now.  Panic pas, this guy is a master.  Bike will be as good as new.

This kid is going to have near perfect weather for her race.  So says the forecast.  Although the one problem with that will be warming up after that 52 degree swim.  I think I'll pack the arm warmers just in case.  Run is going to be awesome though.  There goes all those wasted hot weather training though.

Sweet photo Eric!

Kim, that does sound like great weather!  Just swim really fast and that way you won't even notice it's cold.

Morning everyone.

So there are a bunch of races in my area near mid-end of October.  I'm actually *gasp* thinking about registering for one.

Given my current level of inactivity and non fitness, what distance do we think I should be looking at?

I most enjoy racing longer distances, HIM's and what not, but I want to be realistic about my non existent fitness level and what I can accomplish in 4 months.

Thoughts?  Oponions?  Pom poms?

ABOUT TIME.  I vote IM.  Ha, kidding.  I would say Olympic since you like longer.  But an all out sprint can be fun.  That being said, if you started to get out there and were able to be conistant then there's no reason you couldn't do an HIM.  Or, do an Olympic and a HM.

But this requires me to swim, not just admire the pool from a distance.

Ha!  Kidding... sort of.

There are lots of olympics, including a all women one, which I like the sound of.  I'm sure they will have a fabulous pink shirt (and since that's the only reason I do these things anyway...)

Not everyone has the same view but I did one all girls tri and I swore I would never do another.  An olympic might be different but I found that there were soooo many newbie's in the all woman's one and apperently none had read the rules.  And the organizers didn't bother explaining anything at the start of the race even though they knew it was an all woman's one.  Off the bike it was fine but on the bike it was a free for all and IMO not safe.

X2 on this one.  Bike was scary and transition area got down-right catty.  I would assume an Oly would be better though, if you're really into the shirt.  Most importantly, SIGN UP for something and start posting some peach in that log.

I am starting to feel bad for my wife. The more time I sit and think about my "Super Secrete Motivation Plan" the more and more I think to add to it. Since I might start drinking about 5 minutes after I get out of the water by the time JC and BvD see me on the run part it could get ugly.

I for one would appreciate the lack of stark blinding white in your logs, I won't have to keep my sunglasses on my desk anymore :-)

You could totally do an Oly!  I have to respectfully disagree wtih the other ladies on the women's only deal though.  My first tri was women's only, Houston has 2 that I know of but the other one is right before Bridgeland so that's not going to happen.  Anyway... I LOVED it!  All the women were amazing!  I had someone telling me I was amazing, beautiful and awesome the whole time.  Lot of great volunteers!  I was so spoiled at my second race I was wondering where all the people were that tell me how awesome I am.  LOL  Of course I could have been the gal the other ladies are complaining about since it was my first and I didn't know what I didn't know but I took the time to go over the packet and they had a pre-race meeting.
Oh and the shirt is SUPER cute and I reach for it a lot!  Best SWAG ever!

A friend of mine just bought me 4 Anti-Gravity Yoga classes via Groupon.  This should be freakin' hilarious.  Nicole, I'd invite you to join me but we don't want you to injure yourself as you are re-entering the world of training.  I'll report back after I've taken a class.  Assuming I don't break my neck.

I bet anything it will be one of those classes where you're not allowed to laugh.  It looks like a real n.azi workout to me.

The Bikram studio that I've attended in the past was very strict and hoity toity, you aren't allowed to SPEAK in the class, even if spoken to.  If you do, they throw you out.  LOL  Bucha a.ss.holes if you ask me.

But anyway, I would get a feel for ettiquite before hand.  You don't want to be laughing and peeing and end up getting evicted.

Been there on the Bikram etiquette.   I think that's why I like triathlon.  People don't get so upset about peeing.  In fact they obsess about encourage it.  In all kinds of places I'd never consider. Hello???? I paid a LOT of $$$ for those custom orthotics.  But it is nice to know if the bladder cries uncle you won't be shunned. Upside down though would be totally gross.

Will check out the website first and see if we need to take a chill pill before class.

Looks like a lot fun!  Although I feel like the only things I could do would be the swinging and the part at the end where they are just laying there like they are in a hammock.
