I'm at 86K yards as of yesterday morning. I had a slow down as my father passed away last weekend, and it has been tough to fit workouts in over the last week in between everything going on. In a lot of ways, I am looking forward to things returning to normal tomorrow.

I should cross the 50 mile mark today or tomorrow.

3200m total for 124,200m. 125,000m within reach. Planning to do an easy recovery swim tomorrow to get there. No school pool access for rest of workweek and probably Saturday as well, due to May Day holiday. On the plus side, it's a five-day "weekend"!

So sorry to hear about your father, Brad.  Routine can sure be helpful at times like that.

Cute kid! Is he a swimmer like Daddy?

2100m here (lifeguard stayed till 5, so I did a bit more than planned) for 126,300m. Probably it until after May 1 due to school holiday. Just random stuff--400 swim warmup, 200m of pulling with paddles, a 400m IM. That was going to be it but then more people showed up and found out pool was open till 5, not 4:30. So did 1000m of 50 easy/50 hard and 100m of cooldown. Mission accomplished!

We just got the suit so he had to take it to the pool!
While swimming he caught up to a middle aged lady in the lane and ran into her feet she looks back.... and oh my god he's fast.

First day of training for his swim club is May 1...

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. It was a pretty rough week, but I am trying to settle back in now.

I've gotten my 50 miles in already. I had just been tallying everything as yards, even though I sometimes swim in a 25m pool. My inaccurate total based on this is 92000y. I took a quick look at the times I swam in the meter pool and did a calculation, and I should be at about 92468y, which is 52.53 miles.

Also remembering that my normal yard pool is actually a bit long but also shorter than a meter pool (don't ask me why), I did another couple of quick calculations. The pool I swim in is about 26.3 yards (almost 24.1m), bizarre right? Anyways, after fixing for length (yes - I have an engineering background), I have swam about 96892 yards (55.05) miles since February 3.

So I made it without a problem, and I probably will have at least one more swim workout yet this month tonight or tomorrow.

Congratulations to everyone on meeting the challenge.

In the BT logs, the yards and meters conversion is actually fairly simple. in the Pace section change the drop down for "Mins/100" to whatever the pool is. Not necessary to actually enter numbers, just switch the drop down. My default for logging purposes is in yards, but the pool for Sunday Masters has been converted to meters. I entered in the 4350 I did, switched the drop down to Mins/100 meters and after saving, the total in the logs says 4757.22 yds. That is a bit strange with the yds pool.

Thanks, but I don't often upload my workouts to BT. I have gotten accustomed to Garmin Connect and continue to use that. It gave me my distance total accurately, at least as how I had recorded it. I was just doing that for myself since I like to play with numbers.

Not swimming tomorrow, so total for the challenge comes to 308,282. Had a number of downswings the first few months of this, but definitely swinging up at the end.

Wow. That's a lot of swimming. And a lot of dried out hair, cold swimsuits to put on, a lot of chlorine smell, and too many other things I remember all too well.

Well, finished the challenge at 99,700. Oh, if I'd have paid attention (and logged my workouts on time) I would have stayed in the pool and broke the 100K.

He swam over a few kids last night... nothing deliberate just kids all over the lane. Seemed to hold his own.

Sounds like he's ready for triathlon then. I know our school team practices sometimes end up looking like those tri start simulations when the little kids get competitive and keep trying to swim over each other. In my first tri I actually managed to swim over my friend's husband while "escaping" from what I thought was a jellyfish. (He got it caught on his foot--it was actually a plastic bag.)

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
