I'm back in the game after a few days off...
This morning I did a bike ride on the trainer to do isolated leg drills. It felt a bit awkward, but I increased my cadence while working on it, so I guess that was the point.

My hip is a little tight from yesterday's frisbee playing...I think the jumping may have done it. But after some stretching this afternoon I should be back to normal.

Hour long run for me today.  It's finally cooled off a little.  Funny that I now think mid-80s is cool.

Got my first swim in at the new to me gym.  It's nice to have an adult only lap pool.  I didn't get all the  yardage in I wanted due to time constraints, but it was a good effort nonetheless.

Morning, Geckos...

I'm thinking I might need to reduce my goals a little, if that's OK with the powers that be. ?

The good news is I'm heading home today - the bad news is that I've run 2 miles in the last 4 days...and maybe I swam Monday before I left? I can't remember. I wrote it down somewhere. Before the madness.

I don't want to take it down much - because there's a lot of month left ... but I don't want this curveball to hurt the team. Dee, a ruling?

Oh, and here's an update...

Just popping in with a quick update. Thanks for all of your prayers and thoughts - they must've worked.

Dad's surgery went well - or as well as a triple-bypass can go. At least it was only 3.

Tuesday he was in surgery most of the day. Saw him Tuesday night in recovery and he looked god-awful, but he was sleeping.

Wednesday we got to see him every couple hours for a few minutes ( silly ICU rules...no, I know they're good, but it sucks after you drive so far) - he looked much better. They had him eating and walking and he was alert for all the visits.

I'm headed home today after the first visiting period. Not only do I have the 13 hour drive ahead of me, but I'm going to lose the hour coming east. But I'm starting early and the monkeys can keep me company.

He's going to need to make some changes in his life. I hope he's willing to. My brothers and I need to make some changes too. It's good to get a wakeup call.

Thanks again. I'll probably be back, in regular fashion, tomorrow.

I think reducing goals due to a father in the hospital for a triple bypass is certainly acceptable.  Glad to hear he is better.  All the more reason to celebrate him on Sunday

Had a nice run this morning.  Legs felt good even after the bike ride last night.  Could feel a bruise brewing in my left cheek from the dump though.  One of these days I will get it figured out.

Glad to hear that your Dad is doing well after the surgery!

Yes, you can reduce your goals. No hurry - give it some thought after you get back.

Have a safe trip back! It's a long drive - especially for the monkeys.

I'm hoping to get a run in after work as long as the thunderstorms hold off. I was going to swim this morning but the shoulder is still sore. Train hard.

5.3 more HOT miles for me this morning.   Man -- I'm not used to this humidity, AT ALL.   I thought I was going to melt before I finished.   When I lived in Utah, a much less humid environment, I wouldn't blink twice about a run at 75 degress.  THis morning felt like I was in a sauna!

Oh well.   Distances are improving.  Up to almost 60 percent of my swim and run goals.  Bike should be back in place by Saturday.

Go Geckos!
