I agree with everyone above. In 2007 I rode a disc in the rear with absolutely no problems and had a great race. I rode Zipp 404's at IMLP this year and will most likely ride a 404 in front and the disc in the rear for MOO. The hills at IMWI aren't too bad, especially compared to CdL. There is time to recover after the hills and most are preceded by a nice downhill. (If I remember correctly)

See you in < 5 weeks!!

I raced last year with my Hed3's and they seemed just fine.  I was playing around with using my training wheels because they are lighter and due to all the climbing seemed to make sense.  Then I snapped a spoke on my training wheels riding the MOO course last Friday and remembered why I like my Hed's so much.  I will bring my front trainer wheel along just in case it is a very windy day.  If not gusty I will go with the Hed's.

My choice could be easy (only one set of wheels), but offers to borrow race wheels from two fellow donks has me thinkin'...Still, I think my training wheels will be pi$$ed if I swap them out come race day and they miss the "glory" of an IM experience, since they carried my sorry a$$ for the last year of training and the miles before that.

That's the sentence that pops at me.....my legs are trashed from climbing hills on the bike and run this weekend.  I'm really hoping that the WI hills are easier!

I used 808s last year and am glad I did.  As Hayes mentioned, aero trumps weight and your wheels will be just fine out there.  Lots of rollers with a few climbs, but you will be glad to have a tri bike and aero wheels on this course.

FWIW, you averaged 24 mph for a loop during an IM.  Well, I have a feeling no matter what you use, you will do great out there on Race day.

Bob, interesting to hear your thoughts on that.  I did CDA this past June and thought it was an easier bike course than WI.  I think the 3 tough hills at WI are tougher than anything at CDA, except for maybe one hill at CDA.

Is anyone planning on riding a road bike for the race? We were up there this weekend, and I noticed a rather large percentage of the folks heading out from Fireman's Park were riding road bikes (albeit most with clip-on aero bars attached).

It got me wondering how many actually planned to forego a tri bike in favor of a roadie set up.

The IM course is a popular route for roadies as well, not just triathletes, which might account for some of the roadie setups you saw.

I'll have to trust your judgement better than mine Jim, I have never been out to CDA and I have only ridden the course at WI once. What made it tough for me was my ego and going with a 11-23 cassette instead of a 12-25. The first loop was fine but the second loop I would have given my left lung for a 25 gear! Looking back at my route data even the "big" hills in WI were only 300' and the crowds definitely gave you some extra energy getting up them.

I'm really amazed by how quiet this group is considering we are just about a month away.  How is everyone doing/feeling?

Well I'm feeling incredibly nervous. Do you ever feel "ready"? It's my first IM so I'm going to TRY and enjoy every moment.

I have two big weeks left... This sat. is my big push with 8+ hrs...   I'm feeling confident, but then again, my "target" is to finish as this is my first.  Been out and rode the full 112, ran 13.1 on the course...  the prep is there, now the final push!

You picked the right race to enjoy every moment! There is nothing in the worls that compares to the crowds in Madison! Of the 4 IM races I have done Madison has been my best experience hands down! Not to mention there are a TON of BTers that are going to be there!!

Good good. Ready to race. I have a race rehearsel this weekend, 112 + 6 miles @ my opening IM pace. We'll work out any kinks in the armor this weekend. Another RR two weeks out.....with all my race gear.

The rest is pretty much filler at this point, almost time to start to taper the run!

So far so good.  Had a set-back with some broken ribs about a month ago but I think they will be fine now.  2 more 100+ mile rides and two more long runs and it is on to the taper.  I'm hoping to meet a lot of BT'ers again this year.  Also plan to hit a pub after the race.  Hope I have some fellow IM that want to join me.  After last years race I went back to the hotel because it started to rain and my parents were there.  Felt bad about making them stay.  Layed wide awake in bed until 3:00 a.m.  Lets have a get together after this year.  Anyone in?

The race-is-almost-here-chatter seems to be starting. Crazy that we're going to be tapering soon. I have a 2.5 and a 3-hour run left, and one long ride. Oh, and a crazy long swim, but my pool is closing (haven't found a replacement yet), so I might head up to Devil's Lake and go beach to beach and back.

I've never been so obsessed about something. It's all I can think about. Tapering is going to really, really suck.

Would be happy to join you for some celebritory brews, if I finish before the bars close!

I want my taper and I want it now!

I wouldn't mind having a post-race beer or two as well, but I just can't imagine being able (or willing) to get up and after I finally sit down. Maybe I just won't sit.

On that note; I recommend everyone try the Ale Asylum on the east side if they get a chance. A friend of mine makes the beer there. Unbelievably excellent stuff.

I'm SOOOO in. Just be sure to set up details in advance as I can guarantee you'll be finishing a bit earlier than I

I'm feeling good. I had some setbacks over the past couple weeks, mostly mental luckily, but I'm feeling better. I had a huge weekend last weekend and am in my two biggest volume weeks yet. This weekend I'm doing another 100 on the bike with a fun 8 miles after. Have a 19 mile run Friday. 20 mile run next Friday and 115/10 for the brick. Decided to do a Century the following weekend in Vermont, I rode the course last week and it was beautiful. Then I'll have a two week taper. I'm not ready for taper at all. I'm not ready to stop training, I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that this is almost over.
