That's supposed to warm you up in the cold water, ha ha! I was afraid of that. See, this is why I don't want to rent one! (Of course a woman would never do such a thing, right??) I hate to say it but it was the women in my mentor group who encouraged me to "mark my territory since others undoubtedly done so beforehand." I seems like it is almost a given that people will pee in it (and an absolute give that they will sweat in it), so my guess is that they clean it very well upon return. Come to think of it, there was a slightly antiseptic smell when I first received the suit. Economically, if you are planning on doing more than a couple of races in a wetsuit, it may just make more sense to buy one. Just make sure that if you don't buy it locally that the place has a good return policy in case it doesn't fit. The best seem to offer 30 days for you to try it out and make up your mind. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Of COURSE women pee in it too!! Not that I would know PERSONALLY, because I haven't done a wetsuit race yet. Sorry for calling you out Shawn!!! But Janet needed to know!! And Janet, we won't even go into peeing on the bike (which I have also NEVER done, nor do I intend to) or as in the case of one infamous thread last year, POOP on the bike. Tri people can be NASTY, snot rockets, pee, poop, they do it all. All to get to the finish line... Oh, and you can find pretty inexpensive wetsuits... I found a deal last year on a 2008 model for under $200. I've practiced in it during an OWS, but all my races have been too warm to wear it. If you think you will be into tris for the long haul, you might just wanna go buy one. Or you may be able to get by without one. Edited by hildekq 2010-02-05 1:42 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() At ironstar I was peeing in my wetsuit all over the place... it was great. |
|
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() I make sure I pee in mine minutes before the event that way I don't have to pee during the race (I hope). I usually try to get real close to Stephen as I'm peeing in it. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() While DC is getting slammed (again) weather here is SW Florida is great. Love it here this time of year. Good to be back on the bike this morning. If my daughter can hold out another 24 hours I'll get to do my 1st race of the year. We'll see. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() smilford - 2010-02-04 2:59 PM Yea, work on those transitions! Anyone have any questions about anything? I'm in a good answering mood! Steven- if your still in question answering mode I got one. I was terrible in T1 earlier this morning for a race. I never practive this so that's the primary reason. So I just need to practice some going forward. However, one of the problems was related to cycling shoes. Running with them on, clipping in, etc... I don't remember if I saw this on BT but I recall seeing a video where someone clips their shoes on the bike, mounts the bike, and then puts their feet in the shoes. I think maybe you use rubberbands on the shoes somehow to keep them from hitting the ground while running out of transition. How is this done - or is there another method you suggest? I think I can probably handle the "putting the feet in the shoes while moving" with some practice. Just don't know how to do the rubberband thing-e. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't use a rubber band for my shoes. Not that it's a bad thing, I just never really felt like it was needed. I just keep the pedals at 9 and 3 so the shoes don't bounce on the ground. If they do start to bounce I just pick up the back tired from where I hold at the seat. Depending on what cleats you have, on small transitions I think it's faster to put shoes on in transition. For anything with some decent running out of t1, have the shoes clipped in. As for using a rubberband to hold the shoes up, it's pretty simple. You just need a band that will snap as soon as you do a full pedal rotation and tie it off somewhere that keeps the shoes up from hitting the ground. As long as you don't tie it to either derailers you should be good. ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Everybody, Just wanted to apologize for not being around much this week. I worked almost 60 hours in 4 days. I had no time to workout or internet. Next week shouldn't be as bad and I'll try and chime in with answers to questions as well. Matt |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Superstars- I am SO SORRY for my absence as of lately. Things are work have remained nuts along with some other things that are getting significantly better. PLUS, I used to be able to check in at work during lunch but can't access BT now. I do have a long weekend, so I WILL, I PROMISE, make it to all of your logs. Keep chiming in here, and I hope those of you in the snowbelt of the US are staying warm and enjoying some trainer time! Thanks to all of you for continuing to post. A few more weeks of winter...and I don't have it half as bad as others. I might be able to trade in winter for a couple of years. I got notified today that I got accepted into the PhD program at the Univ of California San Diego for the Poly Sci department...not 100% sure I'm going to go there vs. some other schools I'm waiting to hear from, but it's totally tempting JUST for the weather aspect! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey team - had a couple of sorta weenie days - maybe turkey dog days - where i did one of my two scheduled workouts. Oh well. I was looking back at my last year and I didn't take a single week off in it's entirety at all last year. I think my goal after the him will be do just that! We got a little bit of snow but it's piddly compared to what everyone south of is getting and compared to what we've gotten the last number of winters. We're having wimpy winter. It's good for my run training! Hope everyone else is keeping dry and warm! No peeing in your snowsuit! That's just wetsuits! Found out my new mantra in the pool is 'pull!' - when I get tired I stop pulling as much and I can feel myself kicking too much. Good swim this morning. Some trainer time tonight! Probably watching lost on the DVR. |
