New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mary, I save my race bib and write the date, my finish time, weather condition, thoughts, people I meet, etc. on the back. Then I bought one of those big rings like custodians have for all of their keys. Put the bibs on there and have it tacked to a bullentin board in my office. I can scroll back and see my races, times, and happy moments at a glance. I also will write errors on them too as reminders to not to that again. Thank you! What an awesome idea! I save the bibs but this is such a great use for them.. And I love the idea of having them on a ring. |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by switch Originally posted by Chunga 10K this morning, had a great time. There were 1,200 runners, part of a road series through our local run club. 55 degrees at race time, wore sweat pants, mistake. Wore light jacket, also mistake but I was able to take that off. I will have to learn proper attire for cooler weather but had a great time anyway, beautiful way to start the day!I don't have my time yet but I know I broke 12" miles for the first time! NICE! Mary, I don't know if you do stuff like this, but I would recommend making a list of all of these firsts and putting it somewhere you can see it regularly. We joke in our house about having a "feel good file" filled with little things that make you feel better if you're having a bad day. You sure have racked up a lot to put in your feel good file This will be your first winter as a runner, right? Do you have running tights? I'm a little picky about mine, and will use different ones for 10 degree temperature differences. Specialized makes a really nice windproof cycling tight that doubles as a running tight. I don't know if it gets that cold there, but those are my go-tos once it gets into the teens or below here for runs. If it's below zero I wear an fleece lined Under Armor pair with the Specialized ones on top. As long as I keep moving, that will get me through One thing to make sure of is that they are long enough. I hate it when there's a gap between the bottom of my tight, and my socks. You can remedy with different socks, but it's just nice when the tight is long enough on its own. Hi Switch, I really like the feel good file idea, thank you! Also thanks for the input on tights, I will look at those. So sorry you are having ankle issues, I hope you check in anyway. Mary |

I am not a morning person, but I have started run-commuting this year and as much logistics as it takes, I really enjoy it! |

I don't know what your public transportation options are where you live but you could maybe bus partway and run the other part. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yesterday's run, 1 mile WU, 6 minute time trial to potentially predict marathon time, yeah, right. 1 mile CD. I need to warm up longer because I was ready to run fast by the time I was in the middle of the cool down.
Nice job on the 100 miles, BTW. Actually, great work everyone. Those 2 a-days are intense. |

![]() | ![]() Ahhhhh this was a hard workout to go to! I had to say no to a happy hour on the 76th floor downtown Seattle on a sunny day. Sighh. We were supposed to do 4 miles at M pace (6;56) followed by 2 at T pace (6:45) but we did 4 miles at 6:45 followed by 2 at 6:33. Kind of a no no but I've got a few weeks until I race so I caved. It was that or get dropped and have to run solo. The purpose of the run was working threshold and the mental aspect and pacing for a fast finish. I also think patience was the purpose but we got a big F on that one lol |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So when the alarm went off at 4am it occurred to me that Plan B was VERY attractive. Plan B being go later in the day than usual! later like 7pm to start. So I made that work and did 3miles, lots of people work out that time of the day, the Y was crowded. I am usually home by then. One thing I didn't do well was get my things ready last night, then it all just seemed like too much today. I will pack everything up next time I plan this and just have my workout clothes to jump into and go! I know I will have to do before work training if I ramp up to bigger longer adventures in racing. Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() roughly 4....base and progression run. Attended a marathon discussion panel last night. Best advice (for me): some longer MP runs. Funniest: when someone asked about some more delicate issues that I used to never discuss before running. Advice given was "know your own poop cycle." |
