Fairly certain you need to have an athlete wristband to get into transition proper. They're pretty responsive on Facebook in answering questions, I'd contact them directly and see if you can get a special accomodation.

So I haven't gone through the entire thread but wanted to see what everyone was thinking about how the swim is going to be after the Urban swim there....

There was a practice swim on this race course 7/14/12 (starting at 8:35am) and the swim times were incredibly fast all finished 40mins to an hour if I recall correctly.  For example a swimmer that normally swims 1:26 at IMLP swam a 45 minute swim.  Looking at the tide tables for the GWB it does not seem like the current should have favored the athletes that much.  I have heard from local kayakers that the tides change on that side of the river earlier...

So if you look at 7/14 vs 8/11 predicted at the GWB it looks like it will be a very similar swim as the start time of 8:35am start 7/14 is the same as a 7:04 start on 8/11 in relationship to when the slack/ebb begins. Does this portion of the river normally see some current differences that are different than predictions for the GWB?  It must only be a few miles upstream.  The current race information says that it will be a slightly against the swimmers to start switching to slack and will start flowing in the athletes favor around 7:45.  The race information would match the current charts but would not explain the incredibly fast swim times from all of the athletes (over 85 with similar fast swim times

Bib #1690

I did a 4 hour ride today as well.  Unfortunately, it poured for the second half of the ride     Although I think I liked it better than the 90+ degree weather we have been having.  I felt better today than I have in weeks.

Let's hope the heat wave breaks and we get high 70's / low 80's on race day!!

Bib #2152 for me. Just got home from a 2.4mi swim and 107mi bike, so the last big training day is in the books. I've been looking forward to sitting on the couch tonight watching the Olympics for like six months, can't believe I'm finally here.

Okay, I think I need to stop checking the accuweather site.... Up until recently, the extended forecast was for temps in the low 80's, as of right now, the predicted high is 96! SO hoping for 80's....

Not sure what you are looking at but I just looked at Accuweather and it shows high 80 low 60 with abundant sunshine for Fort Lee, NJ on Aug 11th.  I am hoping this forecast is correct

I was in NY yesterday and it was 73 overcast and humid. I am keeping my fingers crossed for that on race day....

Yeah...I saw accuweather with 97 degree forecast as of this morning..the end of a week or so of 90 degree days. Then checkd again later morning and said 82. The thing is...it'll change a hundred times before race day...especially with the unsettled weather we've been having.

As for yesterday...humidity stinks! I'll take heat over that anyday.

Def getting the taper blues here... the anticipation for the athlete guide came and went.... then the bib #'s...we have no water temp to worry about....What do we have left?

The weather is still too far out to really look at.....nobody really knows what the tides/currents are going to do for the swim... and nobody has every ridden the PIP bike course...
Oh and the first half of the run is gonna suck

Is it race week yet?

Last semi long ride today - 4 hrs - now the serious taper begins - how the hell am I going to get through that?

12 days to go and we will all be there - stay safe everyone.

Starting to think about race logistics now.... Does anyone know anything about ferries to the transition are for Friday gear check-in? I would assume they must have special ferries lined up for this? Anybody know anything about any kind of departure schedule for these ferries?
