One wedding down, one to go.  No, not mine.  Ex-step-daughter today, cousin tomorrow.  Swim this AM, running later, running tomorrow, we'll see about Sunday.  My cuz's wedding is at a Fairgrounds that they have rented out for the weekend.  Her dad is a musician, family events tend to involve a lot of beer and singing.  May not be up for much after that!

Good run, 99 degrees feels like 212 I'm pretty sure my sweat was boiling off me not evaporating.  I get to fill in for an Investigator the next three weeks and today was a shadowing day, getting forms, figuring out how to access databases, getting to know where to go for things etc. but I get to spend my time inside in air conditioning so I am not completly exhausted when I get home more mental exertion than physical looking forward to the next three weeks!

That would be fun.  But you would be waiting for me, cause I have seen your logs!  I don't have anything planned after my HIM.  I have found it interesting that I have looked for nothing after that date.  I guess I am waiting to see if I survive Smile.  Let me know if you know of anything good, I'll see if I am available!

Yeah, I'll be in a bit of a lull after my marathon, too. I'll keep my eye out for a sprint or something. I will most definitely be doing some 5 and 10Ks...not sure if you would be willing to make the trip for a run event or not.

Photography is a part time gig for me.  I have too many student loans to pay back and can't afford to do it full time as my only job.   (Shameless plug for my website: www.tracyolsonphoto.com)  (I'm also a pharmacist(but my DH is a firefighter/paramedic - I know, hot right?!  literally and figuratively!)

Wow, that is really nice work. I am impressed.

Lots of Manatee racing this weekend totally jealous!

I'm out of practice on the bike - I did an hour on the drainer this morning, sweated buckets, was aiming for 1.45 but no way - I had to get off I was going mad!  I will try and get on it for half an hour before my 1hour run tomorrow (may make that an hour and a half)

I'm loving combining Fink Intermediate and the BT beginner HIM program.  I just add extra bits - I definitely do 3 hours more swimming than recommended but that's coz I like the eye candy!

It's cold here - 1 degree Celsius this morning, no way I'm riding in that.  It's sunny though which is nice, see how we go tomorrow!

My daughter had a visit to the emergency room yesterday first time since she was about 11 months old - she's now 7!  Ran into a pole and thought she'd broken her upper arm but nothing on the xray, just jarred her shoulder.  She's happy with the sling and the attention.  Specialist on Monday if no improvement.

Have fun out there - oh I got squad this afternoon - yummy.

Good luck racers! I'm listening to Ultra Marathon Man, so I'll give you the advice Dean's cross country coach gave him -- "Go out strong, and finish stronger." (or something like that).

I'm kind of sad not to be racing this weekend. I think even my husband is a little bummed. We were making it a camping trip . . .  Oh, well. I keep mentioning to him about the weather, and then he backs off.

Speaking of which . . . The 90s in San Antonio have totally spoiled me. I went out this morning at 7:30 (90 minutes earlier than yesterday), and I still roasted in 85-90 degree temps. I'm going to try for earlier tomorrow morning. 103 here so far today.

So, I don't know what my weekend training plans are -- try to do some biking/running. I'm taking the little boys to the pool later this afternoon. We are going to roast.

Have you read Running on Empty by Marshall Ulrich? It's awesome. I got to run with him a while back, too. Very very cool dude.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't read/listened to it, but I will put it on my list.  I love listening to books on my long runs and trainer rides in the winter.

Asalzwed - 2012-07-06 2:14 PM Sooo, what are all the non-racers doing this weekend? Big training?

Recovering?  I think the small one decided to share her stomach virus with me.

On the plus side, I should totally lose weight!  How does that go in The Devil Wears Prada..."I'm just a stomach flu away from my goal weight"?

I'm sorry you're both sick, but I love that quote from Prada. I sometimes catch myself thinking that way.

yum!!!!!  I could so eat that about now!  I'm having a carb free week to shift a couple of stubborn pounds....a burger with the works would hit the spot!  Instead it's off to the pool - I always get full there coz I swallow so much cholrinated water!

Jo-  Did I read that right I think about 10 pages ago you had a Founders KBS?  One of my favorite beers and breweries, they were out of SC for the past 2 years though just got back...  You wanna send some of that KBS down this way Laughing?

(Shameless Plug)

GO RACING MANATEES!!!!PRS ALL AROUND!!!

Founders is local for me.  Michigan and Illinois have the greatest breweries.  I am convinced of it.  The KBS was last year's.   I had won a raffle about 30 pages or so ago where I received a basket of about 25 really amazing micobrews.  A friend of mine is a microbrew expert.  I school him in wine.  He schools me in beer. He is staying at the campsite right across from mine (funny how that worked out) for the tri.  I plan on some awesome post-race beverages.  I will detail them in my RR just for you.

For dinner, I had Bell's Two Hearted.  One of my favorite go-to beers at a sports bar.  Beer is carb loading right?

Good morning/afternoon/evening Manatees! I had a great hike with my son yesterday.  He makes fun of me for "dragging" him up the mountain because I move a decent pace and don't take a lot of breaks.  I just gave him the line about how if he wants his body to adapt he has to put it in conditions to do so.  I didn't do my scheduled 20 bike.  I was "smashed" (as the British TdF announcers phrase it) after the hike.

Speaking of the TdF announcers, I'm learning all kinds of new British terms (nothing like slapper).  I don't quite understand some of them tho...Laughing

On hand for translation if required.

TJ - the hike sounds like so much fun, and the comment from your son is pretty funny!

Erica - congrats to you and your daughter on the track workout.  Hopefully this will continue to be some mom-daughter time.

My own little news update:  Tuesday I swam and FINALLY broke 2 min/100M!!!  Granted it was pretty much an all-out effort, but I did it!  1:55 and my previous best was 2:01!  And it was even at the end of my workout.  Super stoked and still in some degree of disbelief.  I will give credit where credit is due: I have been reading Sheila T's Swim Secrets book and trying to implement some of the things she talks about and I do think this is what got me to my new milestone.  Now if only that number could become my regular pace and not my hard pace I'd be over the moon!  I also need to work on swimming straight.  I think I pull more outward with my left arm and less so with my right, which sends me right especially in races or OWS when I don't have lane lines to keep me in order.

Editing to add: it sure felt good, really good, to swim that fast!

Brilliant stuff. Swim gains seem so hard to acheive and are really satisfying when you realise that you have improved your technique.

You guys are some super busy manatees!  I've been a huge slacker for the month of July thus far.  In my defense, it has been over 100 degrees for weeks and we haven't had a drop of rain in 22 days.  The weighloss is kinda at a plateau as well.  I've lost 33 lbs and have been at that same place for a couple of weeks.  I'll find my mojo, just not sure where.

Want some of ours? June was the wettest on record and July looks to be the same. We have had a months rain in the last 24 hours. I was diverted yesterday due to road floods and all of south west of England is on red alert. (I live in the Midlands on the side of a little hill so luckily it doesnt affect me directly). Messes up my training a little. Not keen on geting on the bike when you can hardly see for the rain and spray.

No training thursday/ friday due to work/weather. Hoped to get out this morning (only heavy showers forecast today around here). However, son No.2 just phoned with a conversation that went something like this.

'me and my friend have been at a party close by, can we come over for breakfast? Have you got bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, beans and toast?'

A 'fry-up' is carb loading right?

Guess my bike/run brick will have to wait for my digestive system to catch up.

Watching Tour de Piglets and trying to stay loose, warm and relaxed for the ocean swim tomorrow ...

Came across this and this is exactly what the lineup looks like tomorrow since all those piglets are who come to race, and those who don't, are working the event in that capacity.

Hm ... might happen to me ...
