I heard a quote today that someone had tattoo'd on their arm.  It was: "Oderint dum metuant"  which from what I found roughly translated from the latin means: "Let Them Hate as Long as Their Fear".

OK so here is the odd part, it was on the upper forearm of a women who works at the local bank.

I don't think that translation is right.  It's, "smelly stupid mutant"

Roger that.

Of all the best picture nominations I have seen.  If I had the DVD in front of me right now, what order would I put them in to watch again?

Lincoln, Argo, Les Mis, ZDT.  I haven't seen Silver Linings and Django yet.  If I know my taste, I think Django would be between Argo and Les Mis.  Silver lining would be at the end of the list unless I'm surprised (not my kind of movie)

Not sure what you mean by "too much".  It's not terribly graphic or violent.  But for a 7yr old, it's probably has too deep/complicated themes to get their head around.  And not nearly enough "action" to compensate.  I think they would be bored, IMO.

Today I learned that we don't have the right to be happy in a relationship and some forms of torture are acceptable.  Or maybe torture is a bad word.  "Enhanced" interrogation/relationship techniques is a more politically correct term?

And to never show emotion around anyone, especially kids. Except happiness, you can show that. Anything else is not managing your feelings appropriately.

I cry in front of my dogs...

Last night I was tearing up at the end of "A thousand words".  I BAD Eddie Murphy movie.  But when he came to his "realization" and was saying goodbye, it made me sad.  It struck me as odd, since I'm not that emotional.

If my marriage is a business relationship, I'm disappointed with the profit margin.  Now, if she makes it in TV/Movies, I may see some return on my investment?

Hahahaha!  You've all been sucked into that thread too!

Oh wait, was that too happy?  Then again, I don't have kids so I don't have to worry about burdening them with my inability to master my emotions or there being too much happiness in my relationship cuz that's not allowed.

Reason 1,347,843 that kids my not be in my future.  With them, I lose my right to be happy, have to take some acting classes, hide my feelings...  And I bet those little buggers are EXPENSIVE!

If the opinion was presented in that way I would fully agree. But there was a whole lot of crazy wrapped around that sentiment. In my opinion.

That was very wrong of you. You need to master your emotions and not burden your dogs with them.

1 for 4, unless I focus on the money, in which case you are batting 1000.
