If there was a like button, I would hit it.  I think the kit has done wonders for me.  The key is to use it!

Quick update on my moving and therefore lack of training!! :

Moving sucks!
Final out processed the base Friday morning then two hours later got called with a "stop movement" order, due to the hurricane; so we weren't able to press forward.  I know, i know... it makes perfect sense to not travel but it still stinks...

Finally were able to leave Texas today, in Nashville tonight then on to Hampton, VA in the morning.

Just ready to get settled and back to some training... been very sporadic the last two weeks, ugh!

I'm Running the Kauai Marathon on Sunday... fly out tomorrow! I'm so excited! The strategy is to try to stay cool, have fun, and enjoy the awesome scenery. Also, planning to do lots of hiking training while we're there.

I'm not bringing my laptop, but I'll try to update and check in on you all by phone.

NO racing for me.  Just a lot of fun relaxing family time before all the kids stuff ramps up next week.

Good luck to anyone racing, and eveyone else enjoy the weekend.

Hey all.  I haven't been on BT is almost a month and it was a crazy month.  I had IMKY this past weekend and things didn't go very well.  The short version is I DNFd the day.  The paramedics pulled me off the course at mile 95 of the bike.  It was extremely disappointing.  I am going to try again in few years I think when my kids are a little older and I have more cycling experience.

Hey guys, you may have noticed I've been a little absent the last 6 weeks or so (or maybe you haven't, I wasn't exactly keeping pace with Tony and John's post count).  So here's a little update on the happenings in the Cadmus household.

Let's start with the losses:

My wife's mountain bike, which also served as her every day bike, was stolen.  Cost of Home Owners deductible and increased premiums over 3 yrs is a wash with the replacement cost, so I think we're just going to eat it and find a bike that's more suitable to her current needs (it was full suspension, she hasn't hit the trails much since the kids came along).

We had a nice vacation at the beach, except for the part about me losing my wedding ring in the Pacific Ocean.  Thankfully it was a team effort in losing it, so my wife isn't mad at me .  Replacement is on its way, but can't get here soon enough.  If I have to explain one more time to the cashier or barista why I don't want to meet up with them for drinks or be introduced to their sister, I'm going to lose it.... ok, that might not be entirely true.

Now for the awesomeness that has taken me away from training and my friends here.....

My wife and I have started a small business, selling freshly roasted premium coffee.  Getting this started has occupied the majority of my 'spare' time the last 6 weeks.  The biggest efforts being building a website (I guess I'm not as geeky as I thought) and drinking a lot of coffee to see which roast levels are best for each bean (rough, I know, but someone has to do it).  Wander on over and check it out if you're tired of drinking stale, over-roasted coffee.  www.vendovicoffee.com

In my other spare time I've been doing some contract work for a company out of Seattle.  I really enjoy this work and the company is great, hoping this will pan out to a full-time gig.

And the biggest news - through all of this other stuff going on, my wife and I managed to find some time to ourselves and are expecting another child next year.

Probably more than you wanted to know aboout the Cadmus clan, but hey - you didn't have to read it all

So sorry to hear this, Rachel. Take some time for yourself to recover and to remind yourself that making it to the starting line of an Ironman is a great achievement. You will get there again!

I am sure it is a great disappointment, but Kim is right.  When the time is right, reflect back on what went right and make sure to repeat it and then make that list of things that didin't go so well so you can improve upon them.  I've done that for several races.  It's sort of painful, but well worth it the second time around.

Well....I have no races this weekend, BUT the man is giving me freedom!!!  He is staying back to move some more of our crap while I head to Minocqua today to get my head on straight.  He'll join me sometime on Friday for some of the festivities.  It'll be our last boat weekend as we move on 9/22!

Enjoy the Holiday weekend!

I'm sorry.   But the good news is it sounds like you have a good handle on things.   Hang in there, you'll get it next time.

BTW - kids and IM training is tough anytime (when the age changes the demands change).  But if you've got the desire you can make it work!  Smile Smile

I was pretty proud of my month till I saw Suzie's.  Now I feel really inferior but what the hell, I am used to it.

August's totals:
Bike:23h 38m  - 406.5 Mi
Run:14h 59m  - 83 Mi
Swim:7h 36m  - 20800 Yd

Actually one of my best months to date.  September should see some increase if I can keep the knees in good shape (fingers crossed).

Just wait.  Believe it or not they get alot more expensive the older they get.  I say that and mine are only 10, 9, & 7 1/2.  I'm sure others with older kiddos can chime in even more. Smile

I am doing my final two races this weekend. Saturday morning I am doing a long sprint. (750 swim 30K bike and 7K run) then at 1:00 I am going to do the try-a-tri super sprint (375 swim 10K bike and 2.5K run). should be fun I have never done two races in one day.
