So many pages... trying to keep up.  I am laughing a little at everyone finishing their Tri season.  Mine hasn't started yet!  My first tri of the year is in September finishing in November.  I wanted to thank everyone for keeping me motivated through  an injury.  I finally feel like I am getting in tri shape.

Suzy - Very pretty and a great dress!  I was hopin' after we saw it on the hanger....

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Congratulations Matt!

Beautiful Suzy!

"What are taters precious?" Really!?! No one got this? Best movies ever

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

It's been a busy couple days for me. Moved the RV to Walla Walla, WA yesterday then got an OWS in at Bennington Lake. Drove to Kalispell MT today and got in a pretty good bike in much cooler temps. I love how quickly it cools in the evenings in MT!

Hi All

I am dogged tired after so many events and it is only Saturday.  We had a great time at the wedding.  Here is a shot of Paul and me and me with my very best friend Diane.  For Kim, I wore the middle shoes.  They were silver. My feet were killing me after 6 hours of standing!!  Today it is bike shoes and tennis shoes only!

Suzy and "the man"   NICE.

I woke up this morning still feeling like crap.  Called my pediatrician (buddy) and he is calling me in some meds, so maybe it is an infection and I can get it knocked up.  I am not only feeling bad, but feeling bad about my lack of training.  Starting to feel crunch time with 2 months to go, and my plan was to start pouring it on this week.  Oh well!

Everyone have a good one!

Great pics - you looked beautiful.  :-)  I can't stand wearing heels.  My feet hurt just looking at them.

Great pics Suzy!!
Now go for a run in those heels!! A
I Actually have a pretty good respect for you ladies. I did a "walk a mile in her shoes" last year. We had to do what the title suggested in these hookeresque shoes for charity. Wow calves and achilles were sore!

You've got a pretty good base already Barry. You need to get better though. You need to just relax and not think you can push through the illness. If you've tried to already (which it seems you have) without success , time to lay down and put the feet up I say.

Wonderful pics Suzy.  You guys look great!  I love seeing new pics of you guys because it gives me a better mental picture of you when I'm "talking" to you guys on here.

Barry. You're good man. You are not loosing much, if anything at all and there's still lots of time to go.  Just get better.

I went to the beginners clinic held for my sprint next weekend so I could get the OWS in.  It was really cool. After the swim everyone went on a run but I hung back because I rode a little this morning and I have a longish run tomorrow.  I'm standing around talking to this lady about the race and she mentions she just finished chemo and is all clear.  I high five her.  Then she tells me how her dad died of cancer last summer.  She was there with him when he passed away but could not stick around because she had to go to chemo.  I sitting there thinking about when I watched my mom take her last breath and how incredibly tough that was.  This woman just did it and now she has to go to chemo.  damn.  Now we're here swapping these stories with smiles on our face's.  The human spirit...amazing.  One of the most amazing things about this sport is I'm humbled more by some of the people I meet then mile 10 at the half.

Agreed it is an amazing sport with many different stories. Every one has a story...and most of them are quite amazing.

PB ALERT

I just completed 21.1 kms..It took a while. Just over 2 1/2 hrs but i did it. Longest run to date was 15k.I planned on doing 2 loops around this river path of roughly 10k. I tried to talk my way out of the 2nd loop, but I pushed my way through it. Walked a bit of it obviously at this pace, but wow running is so mental for me. I need to just shut my mind off sometimes and not think about what I am doing. It is so easy to talk myself out of things.
It does sound hokie(sp?), but if you want something you just have to believe in yourself.
Off to do a little cold soak!!

Suzy:

You and your husband (?) really do look great at the wedding.  I smiled looking at your pics. :-)  I know about the shoes.  I can't wear heels to save my life.  Athletic shoes are really all I wear - even at work I wear a black blend in pair - they are suede, so you can't tell - sort of. :-)

Okay - push up challenge.

I did 100 regular crunches today, 50 reverse crunches and then 50 side crunches (25 on each side).  That was *fun* I guess.  *shrug*  :-)

See you dudes.  I guess this thing starts Monday?  Is someone keeping a spreadsheet?

Yours truly,

dbw27

I am having a very lazy Sat. which is good.  It is my day off.  My son has been fighting strep so we went to the movies to see G-Force. It was cute enough and they made it through the movie.  But for tixs and snacks, it was $63.  I couldn't believe it.

Yeah, movies are pretty much a rip off these days...  We hardly ever go to the movies, I just buy the DVD when it comes out and watch in my living room  - microwave popcorn is just as good

I think we paid extra for the 3d glasses which both kids were too scared to wear.

Trying to get motivated to go do something.  Watching Kona 2008, lol we have all races since 2001 on DVR.

Plan for tomorrow is to swim sans shirt then put it on in T1.  It's too big for me but seems a waste to go out and buy a new one since this is my last tri of the year.  Will get something new in the offseason.

John--WOW! That is big news.  I would be excited too.  What's the weather like in August?

Trevor--nice job!!!  Is there a marathon in your future plans?

I am ready for a very lazy Saturday night....doing nothing, maybe going to bed at 9pm!  Tomorrow is the wedding reception picnic and then all my matronly obligations will be behind me.

Facebook is finally restored after being disabled yesterday due to to cybercorruption!!!  I get wronged and I am the one who gets disabled.  Is that justice?

Have a good night.

Suzy....No marathon in the future. Plans are to do a half on Oct 4th. Never even touched that distance before. Started a 9 week runnersworld plan next week for it.

July and August are typically the best months.  avg in the 60's.  top tourist months too so the crowds should be big, they usually are.  i actually thought of you when doing the research.  there is one hill that is supposed to be like a climb on the TdF.  Lots and lots of people crammed on this hill leaving the riders just a few feet to get through.  Thought of you because its called Heartbreak Hill.  I really wish it had a different name.  As cool as this might be going up their is only one Heartbreak Hill.  But I guess I'll go up it anyways. ;-)

Umm.. just curious.  Aside from travel costs, isn't it a lot to do these international events - like shipping your bike and stuff? I imagine you have a dedicated bike case?

Alright -  quick family story this evening.  My daughter (she's 8) is not physically gifted, she is uncoordinated and not especially athletic.  Developmentally, she is all brain (thank goodness).  Any way, after I finished my last tri, we were out for Sunday brunch with my tri buddy Johnny and she announces she is going to a triathlon.  Small issue  - she can barely dog paddle and couldn't ride a bike.  In the last week and half, the bike riding finally clicked and she is riding but still having a little trouble making turns and getting started.

So tonight, after going wide on a turn, she runs square into the fire hydrant and it pitches her forward onto the handlebars and she crashes and hurts herself a little.  I was worried that this would set us back again, but she gets up and says "Let's keep going Daddy - pain is temporary, quitting is forever."  She then got going again and finished the last of the mile and half strong.

I am sooo proud of her!  She says that is going to be her new motto now.

Sorry, but I had to share.
