Trin2bfast - 2010-07-30 10:37 AM I got the new position.  Beat out 4 other applicants, and I will now be the new Westside Divisional Gang Unit Supervisor starting on Monday.  10a-6p.... weekends off, plain clothes, plenty of paid overtime, and a great boss.  Doing my happy dance.

That is so awesome.  Good job!!!

Newtons1st - 2010-07-30 11:54 AM hmm I guess I will have to be on better behavor than originally planned.

Betsy0706 - 2010-07-30 10:16 AM Time for the Friday happy dance!

I barely recognize you Justin.  I bet those ankles were still just as skinny as ever!  haha  You've put in a lot of hard to be the fast guy you are today.

Todd - Eric and I are in for the floating trip.  I will also be bringing my 15 year old sister and one of her friends.

As for the weekend - Eric is off on a bachelor's party in Mexico and will hopefully come back alive on Monday.  I have a baby shower to attend and hopefully be able to hang out with some friends.

Last day at the beach for me, we have to check out by 10 tomorrow morning.  We've had a lot of fun.  We've gotten in a lot of beach and pool time and today we went kayaking.  Here's one of James's pictures from our sunrise picture taking outing yesterday.... Happy Friday everyone!

Wow, I missed a lot today.  The one day I'm away from the computer and you kids all post.

JC- congrats on the job.  That is really fantastic.  10 a.m. start times huh?  Now you have no excuse not to get your morning sessions in.    And  fun pic... though I think I need a shirtless after to really comment on how much weight you've lost.  Just sayin...

Kim- you already know that I think you're nuts about the whole uphill marathon thing, but have fun with that.  And congrats on winning our challenge this month.  Next month however... whole different ballgame.

Tif and Nic- don't melt out there!

Everyone in TX- I'm jealous of that darn float trip.

And finally, everyone have a super fun weekend!

CONGRATS on the new position! Gotta love the hours!  PERFECT for IM training.

Pack on the pounds...I think you would be a hero in the Clyde division, hardware every time! - you might want to rethink your training? (my suggestion might have something to do with the fact I am in your AG forever..fast bastard!

I think we are out for the float.  The little girls need watching.  Sounds like a great time and we may have to get a grandparent in here if you make this an annual thing.

Have a great weekend everyone!

July's totals:
Bike:21h 35m 39s  - 311.04 Mi
Run:12h 49m 59s  - 74.57 Mi
Swim:4h 54m 21s  - 11350 Yd
Strength:1h 55m
Hiking:4h 00m
Stretching:25m

June's totals:
Bike:18h 05m 56s  - 287.6 Mi
Run:10h 17m 20s  - 60.53 Mi
Swim:9h 44m 26s  - 23462 Yd
Strength:1h 15m
Hiking:4h 30m
Stretching:25m

I'm pretty happy with my totals.  Before deciding to not do SOMA I was doing well with my training program (minus the swim).  Now of course my focus is totally switched.  Time to focus on that run, with much of it being hilly.  I hope to still get at least two swims and two rides in per week.  Oh, and two strength training sessions so I can kick Nicole's arse again.

How'd all that hiking get in there?

I am kicking bikes around and I am working on creating appointments with LBSs to ride those that are possible.  I also get that the dimensions fit some bikes better than others.  All that being said P2 or P3?  Felt B12, B14, B16? Specialized Transition?  I am starting to go nuts looking at options.  I almost pulled the trigger on another eBay bike and decided not to.  I really would prefer a new tri bike sold from a LBS with a bit knocked off retail (older model). I am finding it hard to get on a Fuji D6, or a Roo CD.01, none in stock my size.  I hate to have a bike shop order a bike and build it just so I can ride it for a test ride.  I have decided on Ultegra not Dura-Ace.  Sram Force would work over Sram Red.  These components help the price tag considerably.  I decided Dura Ace, Sram Red, Trek, or Zipp add more cost than I can cover.

The latest bike I am drooling over is a new '08 Specialized Transition Comp from a LBS I found online.  I am hoping I can ride the bike and make a better decision than I could from the used eBay bike I had previously considered.

What helped you make your final decision on your most recent bike purchase? I don't plan selling my road bike because I love it.  It's not even close to the right bike for triathlon races but I still want to ride it from time to time (or so I think).  I think a "rain bike" or a back-up bike may be great great to have.  This tri bike purchase will likely be the last for awhile so I would like to make the correct one.  It's fun looking at all the options until you have to lay down the cash to make one yours.

I KENOTT swim - 2010-08-01 6:17 PM What helped you make your final decision on your most recent bike purchase?

Simple.  It fit...well.  I loved the feel of it as soon as I got on it.  Of course I was only looking at an upgrade so from there it was a fit.  I wanted good components and thought along the same as you regarding those.  I went to road again though cause at the time a majority of my rides would have been group rides (but then I moved) so I picked a bike that was a solid road bike that I felt would handle well in tri's and I have been pretty happy with my choice.
