Aaaaaaaaaaaand taper madness begins.  Obsessively going over my training this year vs my training last year before my HIM.  Have I done enough, am I stronger, ocean swim vs lake....  Sigh.  It's all in the bank, just relax.

Easy does it.

Remember that you have last year's training and experience AND this year's in the bank! Plenty to draw from during the race!

MANATEES! I HAVE THE BEST FACHING NEWS EVER!!!!!

Especially during/after tough times and disappointments ...

I'M GOING TO RIO IN 2016!

Honestly, it's in a capacity that makes me even happier than the Olympics ... triathlon debuts in the Paralympics in 2016 and I am the coach for Indonesia! We get to send 1 male and 1 female; they will need to meet some qualifying times but we've got almost 3 years to get them there. I am SO excited.

And as great fortune would have it, our national Paralympic Championships are right here in Bali next weekend; I'll be scouting the swimming, cycling, and track & field events for likely candidates.

My first triathlon ever in 2005 was a benefit for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and I remember being awed at seeing blind, fewer-than-four-limbed, those with spina bifida and multiple sclerosis and many other athletes with disabilities competing (usually flying by me).

This is also going to be a project with More than Sport (Chris Lieto's foundation that basically is a platform for other projects/foundations).

YES!!! For me, THIS is what triathlon is all about--making it for EVERYBODY.

And, in other less exciting news, I survived the Bali Ocean 10K.

Hey, I beat the guy who set the world record for ocean 10k butterfly ... respect!!! (for him). It was actually pretty faching amazing watching him ... he had his own paddler who is also a referee since the standards for open-water swimming and world records are very strict. He can tread water, but he cannot take ONE stroke that is not competition-standard butterfly. Unbelievable.

His mom is one of the famous Korean Jeju Island pearl divers. Look it up if you don't know; those ladies are unbelievable. Some have been doing it their whole lives and are in their 60s and still going.

JOJO ... I saw your post awhile back about TA hiring for someone to develop an Oz Paralympics tri team ... I'm pretty sure they hired someone and I'm pretty sure I met him today. It's all a little fuzzy since it happened after the 10K swim.

Yes the job offer was closing 22nd June - I didn't apply that would be slightly over my head!  BUT if you did, put in a word for a great business analyst type assistant person I'd happily do it!

Did you swim 10k???

Goody -- way to go for your lil Goody Guy! how fun!

Stace Face -- I had a homesick Aussie offer me $10 for the (half-eaten) box of Nutri Grain I brought to the swim today. I said NO, but I did let him lick the inside of my goggles for me.

Wondermoose -- I love you all. Such a beautiful family!

Watermelon, hmmm. We get so much of it here all the time--I do like it very much, but it's just not that interesting to me. Now, ice cream, to be exact, frozen (probably never seen a cow) soft-serve dessert ... that's my ticket!

{{{Extra large cantaloupe presses}}} does not have the same flare.  I can't help it if my melons are as big.     On the ice cream note though, I text my husband from my weight watchers weigh in every Monday to tell him if we are going to Dairy Queen for ice cream or not.  It is my treat (to use up my weekly points) if I lose weight.  Counter productive maybe but so far it has been my motivation!!   LOVE ICE CREAM!!!  I will totally run for ice cream!!

I like ice cram more than watermelon too, but it just seems to do a better job towards recovering from the heat. Somehow I find the ice cream pic even more interesting than the Olympics announcement?
