Rainbow Bridge ...

Autumn, I'm so sorry. How wonderful you could be there for Frida, as she was there for you. I'll give my Ace the Kitty (16 when he left me) a heads up to give her a nose touch.

Thoughts and prayers for your family.

Your story touched me so deeply Autumn.  I am not ashamed to say that I am quite misty eyed at this moment.  I can well empathize with the pain you are going through, having lost a beloved pet some years ago.  My heart goes out to you and to Frida.  Now excuse me while I go hug Darwin, my own silly old cat.

thank you all so much.

last night we had ella's drum concert. i was so proud of her. it took our minds off all that had happened today. when she came in with her class, she sat down. then, from across the gym, i could see she had started to cry. it broke my heart. it was a combination of stage fright (there were a lot of people there to watch) and sadness. she didn't drum as much as she was supposed to, but she did sing. afterwards told her teacher she needed to be with her mama. she came over and cuddled up in my lap. after dinner, i gave her her new drum. she played the songs on it she had missed performing for us at the concert, which made us all feel better. then she played some songs in the backyard while we buried frida.

our other cat, otto, and our dog, greta, have both been wandering around the house sniffing at things. they have each other, but i think they can sense that frida is gone. before the funeral, greta sniffed the box frida was in. later, after she was buried, greta came back and sniffed everywhere trying to figure out where frida had gone. it must be very strange for them.

it was a very long, sad, amazing day. thanks for all your posts, thoughts, and condolences.

Autumn,

I couldn't help buy cry while reading about your kitty.  I'm sorry for your loss.

We buried my 20 year old cat after we had to put her to sleep outside where she always wanted to be - she was an indoor cat and had escaped a few times to be gone for days, worrying her subjects (us), but she lived inside.  I think of her everytime I'm at my parents house and see the Red Maple she's buried under.

Take care -

Steve

I do want to share my thoughts and condolences with you and your family

I too was sitting in my office a good bit teary eyed.  your outlook is wonderful and thelessons you are teaching your daughters are going to help them with this traumatic time as well.  It is important to celebrate the life of our loved ones be they people or pets I'm sure that your dog and other cat are also mourning the loss of their friend as well.  My grandparents dog looked for my granfather after his death for about a month  she was also much more affectionate to my grandmother during this time so be sure to give them a little extra hug as well. .  .

I am unable to read the rest of this thread, after reaching the one about Frida's passing.  I'm so very sorry for your loss Autumn.  I'm deeply touched that you shared this very personal story w/ all of us.  I was tearing up pretty badly, and will make this short lest I start crying for real.

I can't even imagine or even remotely thinkg about when that day comes for my Gigi girl (blond terrier mix).  She'll be 7 in Jan.

God bless you and your family.  And God bless Frida.
