I mean, that is the standard knee-jerk response now after these types of incidents, right? I know, RIGHT? Imagine if some brave legislators decided they were going to do something meaningful, like shut shut down the govt., because they didn't like a piece of legislation. How 'knee-jerk' would THAT be!? |

But the papers are still calling her a shooter. Some are being honest and saying police shot a woman who rammed barriers. "Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death" Others... not so much. "Driver killed in U.S. Capitol shooting" "U.S. Capitol shooting: Connecticut woman shot dead " "US Capitol Building Shooting " "Capitol Hill shooting: Driver shot dead after car chase near Capitol" Can you tell how badly they wanted this to be a person with a gun to start the drum roll of gun control all over again? Originally posted by DanielG Originally posted by Left Brain That is all The only shooting was from the Secret Service and the local cops. That's why I didn't speculate further than what the media originally put out......because those boneheads never get it right. If those headlines get you riled up, this one will make your head explode. "Connecticut woman gunned down in DC thought Obama was communicating with her". Damn liberal elite media. Oh wait, that was Foxnews. Eh, well I'm sure they're still trying to push some kind of anti-gun, anti-cop, poor victim agenda. Kevin, We ARE talking about FoxNews-there's really no place for...facts! As opposed to the other news outlets that are soaked in unbiased journalism. I'm not even sure I'd know what to do if I found a truly unbiased news channel. I'd probably still call it biased because it was so unbiased. lol btw, you guys should like Fox coming over to the dark side. :-D |

But you have to admit, if you just read that headline, whose website would you assume it's from? And does it not bother you? I know it's just rhetoric, but when have you ever heard the phrase "gunned down". When a clear-cut bad guy shoots the good guy or an innocent victim. I've never heard it used to describe police justifiably shooting someone who had attacked, injured, and attempted to kill several other officers. In fact, they have another headline asking was "Deadly force justified on Capital Hill?" The answer is yes. No debate, just yes. She tried to run over police, shoot her. Sounds to me like Foxnews is going soft. Edited by kevin_trapp 2013-10-04 4:18 PM |

Sounds to me like Foxnews is going soft. I'd say I don't hear the term "gun downed" very often. I'm trying to even remember the last time I heard it used on either side. I personally don't like the term to describe either side of a shooting. I do remember watching Fox News a week or two ago and they were interviewing the model lady who was hit by a cabbie and lost her leg in NYC. The interviewer was blabbing away and asked her if she remembered getting "mowed down by the cabbie" or something to that effect. I did the ole WTF look at the insensitivity of his comment. |

I don't mind the "hard news" shows on any of the channels CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News, but it's tough for me to watch any of the talking head shows anymore because they just make my head hurt. |

She thought Obama was communicating with her? If so, then they're publishing what's known as "news" OOOHHHHH, you don't like Fox News and take any stretch to try to make it look bad. I see. Dunno, I can't remember the last time I watched any news program, haven't had cable since '96. I read pretty much every English speaking news site out there and have spiders looking for stuff that I'm interested in as well. I tend to read about topics that interest me in as many different places as I can find so I can see what each leaves out of the report, what each emphasizes, where the cut line is and which places use what cut line. It really gives one a more complete picture about what actually happened rather than relying on one site. Perhaps you might consider doing the same and letting the chaff go away with the wind. |
