I think cyclists just have anger issues because there are far more hot tri chicks than there are hot bike chicks.

And...in cyling they wear more clothing.  That's probably why they're jealous- triathletes have a better view of others!

    They're jealous.

I've come to this sport as a cyclist primarily, but I've found the tri-community much nicer, open and more accepting than the cycling community is as a whole. That's not to say that there aren't nice cyclists; there are, but it is a lot - a lot - harder to do well in tri than it is to do well in a cycling event.

Quite honestly, there are also far more tri-events within easy driving distance of my area than cycling events, anyway.

Besides, if I'm going to shave my legs, I might as well be in something that has me shaving everywhere else anyway!

Our LBSes love tri-people here, BTW, as they'll often own both a road and a tribike.

It is exactly the opposite here. Around here there are more snobby triathletes than cyclists, though there are both. Maybe being a female has something to do with that too. The ratio of female to male cyclists is less than the ratio of female to male triathletes, so there is less competition in the sport of cycling for me.

There are more cycling events around here than tri events. In the summer there are 3-4 bike races per week, there are tris only about once every two weeks.

I shave my legs for other reasons.

Our LBS loves triathletes too. Hey money is money.

You are right though, there is a certain animosity toward triathletes by the cyclists I ride with.

I'm a geek in so many other facets of my life that I just roll with it for the tri-geekiness.

And I can state definitively that southernaquagoddess is my hero.

In my neck of the woods being a geek of any kind is trendy and fashionable. The triathletes at the club I belong to are as bad as the biking elitists. They all think they're all that. I am part of the tri club there, but mainly train on my own. I'm in the tri club because we have good workshops, discounts at local LBSs, a variety of training schedules, and there is always someone to run, swim, bike with if that what you're looking for. Also a large variety of training classes tailored for triathletes.

We are more analretentive then an accountant; we never just go out and ride/run/swim, it's always planned to within a single heart beat.

Hehe, so that must mean I'm really anal retentive then since i'm a tri-geek and an accountant, Oh well, its not so bad being a geek then......

I just can't stand that elitist attitude in any sport, or other area of life. Get over yourselves! That's what I want to say to some of the folks at the club.
