With their payroll the Yankee's should win the pennant by 40 games every year....YOU SHOULDN"T BE EXCITED ABOUT BEING  IN A PENNANT RACE ON THE LAST WEEKEND!!!!!!

I for one hope they lose and lose big!!

Go Braves!!!

My feelings exactly.

Well, it comes down to one weekend. 3 (possibly 4 games).

As a REd Sox fan, I am going to offer an objective look at this weekends series.

1. Location: advantage Red Sox. Big Papi and Manny are dangerous in Fenway Pahk.
2. Pitching: I gotta like the Red Sox here for the starting pitching. Mussina is not good anymore, and Wang...well, need I say more? Yanks have a better bull pen although Papalbon is nasty like Rivera but can pitch longer.
3. Hitting: Draw
4. Coaching: Draw
5. Defense: Yanks
6. That special something factor: Draw. Red Sox excorcised demons last year, but the Yanks are still the yanks. Big Papi is big money, A-Rod gets big money.

Red Sox, 2 out of 3. Good pitching wins. Always.
Tie breaker? anyones guess. :-)

I thikn you're right except for a couple of things - I think the starting pitching is a draw too. Both teams seem to be really inconsistant. Wells vs. Wang - Wang has been good (better era than Wells), Wells you don't know what you're getting these days. Wakefield vs. Randy. Wakefield always scares me but Johnson has finally been pitching like Johnson and this game is why they got him. Schilling vs. Moose - both have been getting knocked around an awful lot lately. Both teams are hot right now but I see the Yanks taking 2/3. Still, I'm nervous...

Personally, I'm hoping the ground opens up in Fenway Park and sucks em both in. (bitter Orioles fan).  Hoping for the Yanks to win, then whoever Yanks get next beats the ever living crap out of them.  And while the ground is open, I hope someone throws Peter Angelos in as well.  LOL!

Red Sox win Friday!!

Lots of weird plays by the Yanks on Friday....ball through A-Rod's legs...reminds you of Buckner..anyone? Sox won with fewer hits than the Yankees.

Indians lost in the 13th!!

Good day for Red Sox fan...but 2 more tough days/games to make it through. Tomorrows afternoon Wakefield vs Johnson will be critical. Sun will play a factor....should be exciting!

I see what you are saying about the starting pitching - but (I know I'm typing this AFTER the game) going into the game, I would give Wells the edge (albeit small) because he's been in that position before. Many times. And he's almost unbeatable at Fenway. 15-1 since '99 I think. Wakefield/Johnson should be interesting but I'd give the edge to Johnson. Wakefield has been on fire recently, though, and is perfectly capable of matching Johnson pitch for pitch. It'll probably come down to the bullpen and the Sox have inexperience with Papalbon, who has been amazing, but he is still a rookie.
Gotta give Schill the edge tomorrow. I know non-Sox fans are sick of the bloody sock story, but that was truly amazing. Mussina just isn't the same guy under any circumstance.

I hate the Hokies. Maybe that same sink hole that swallows the sox and yanks will get them too.

Go Cuse!!! (yeah, I know, but old habits die hard. It's gonna take me a while to be able to cheer for BC and they are from my home city!)

Oh - and perhaps the defense edge should swing to the Sox. The Yanks looked HORRIBLE last night - Giambi sux anyways, A-Rod sux against the Sox, Bernie Williams struggles to catch a cold in centerfield and Canu - who the hell are these guys?!

AL East Champs!!!
Granted its due to some accounting trick I don't really understand and doesn't seem quite right but I'll take it.

A-Rods 1st error since June is forgivable. Cano seems to make more than his share of mistakes between errors and baserunning but he is just a rookie. A little luck today the baseball season will extend an extra day... Go Yanks!! And 'Cuse! - we agree there!

This is the only thing that continues to console me after the Braves lost... knowing George Steinny-poo is throwing hissy-fits even as I type.

GO disASTROS!!!

Well congrats to the Angels. It seemed like both teams were trying to choke it away, but the Yanks wanted it more...

I guess now I'm hoping for a White Sox-Astros WS. Sorry Cards, but I still can't forgive them for rolling over for the Red Sox last year. Pettite-Clemens vs. Contreras-El Duque. The Yanks play on...

I agree with your pale hose vs astros world series. Perhaps it's time for another fantastic failure to get a ring...
