Nicole83 - 2009-08-25 3:43 PM I haven't read any of the other threads, so I totally thought that you meant that the FOP race so hard that they puke, and when they do, should they be using buckets?

Clearly, I have some catching up to do.

actually that's a great thought... I can't remember anyone taking it that way..

It's a topic that has been discussed so much that it's now a running joke

Actually it's a triathlon joke. But that may be splitting hairs.

But how do you split those hairs... a razor, nair... while standing in a tub of water with electric clippers..

I think the girl who crapped her shorts on the training bike ride should always carry a bucket.

I am so glad that I was not the only one to think that <wipes Brow>

Seriously...for all of you, who actually bring a bucket....what do you use it for?

Yes....I'm being completely sincere.  I really don't know why you would need a bucket.

Sorry for my newbieignoranceness. Embarassed

Before the advent of Transition bags, people would just put all of their gear in a bucket (Think Home Depot 5 gallon) and put that on their handlebars and head off to transition.  After they got their stuff out of it, now it made a great place to sit down while doing one or all of the following:
1) dry off your feet
2) put on your socks
3) take a nap
4) bother your neighbor

Our coach had us wear sweatshirts - that was pretty joyous occassions.  Also do the kick sets with the kickboard 90 degrees to the water.

During Naval Aviation training in Pensacola we had to swim a mile in our flight suits. At least they let us take our steel-toed boots off.

Never had to do sweatshirts but we did the 90 degree kick boards or kicking while holding it over your head and doing laps not just like treading water without your arms.

Ah!  Thanks!  For all of us real tall people, balancing on one foot while putting on shoes is a pain in the .  I have been known to fall over and just lay there for a few seconds....I may actually try this at my next race!!  Hopefully the bucket doesn't put me at the bop!!!

Marvarnett - 2009-08-25 2:39 PM Although I like Bear's reason better, I think a bucket would be useful for flying mounts.

Only use I could see for a bucket would be to try and put it over my closest competitors head in T2... I need all the lead time out on the run course that I can get...
