Subject: RE: Oct 4th half Marathon- need helpI should probably stay out of this, but... I was going to say the exact thing that KSH said, but she beat me to it. It was nice of her to find the reponses and repost them here, where I would have just said "how is this different than the other two threads on this topic?" I think she said it in a perfectly reasonable way, and it may be that you are not getting her tone. It goes both ways. If there's something more you're looking to learn, please tell us what that is? If you had said "I brought this up before and I decided to go ahead with the training. Now, however, I am doubting my ability to complete the plan because the run was difficult. Does this change things? How?" That would have made sense, and you could have continued the discussion with our help. But, as you left it, my first thought was "What does this guy want to know???" For what it's worth, I will say that every new long run always seems difficult to me. I always wonder if I am doing the right thing and how I will possibly go longer next week. But, I do it and it works out. My first half-marathon I was in very much the same boat as you. It was a sucky 2 hours and 18 minutes and I didn't enjoy it much. But I managed it, and didn't get injured, and even finished about mid-pack for the women. I get by on very little training and it's fine. Not optimal and I'm not ever going to win anything, but it accomplishes my goal. |
