I'm most thankful for my family - husband, kids and mom who lets all of us take over her house every year we lose power from the hurricanes!

I'm going to try to do a picture, but they rarely work...

Huh...they finally worked but they're tiny. I'll never get that right...

I am thankful for my son and my family,

I am thankful for my new BT friends (you know who you are) and the ones I hope to be friends with (yeah that is you too),

I am thankful for this new body that I have created and that I like to push just to see how far it will take me,

I am thankful for my job, which allows me to have the money to spend on the most expensive sport I have ever played (even over golf).

I hope all you fellow BTers have a Happy Turkey day and are safe this week and weekend.

Hmm, let's see.

FAMILY- even though they think I'm nuts. They're there to take my calls and hug me and generally support my crazy endeavors.

BOYFRIEND- for taking a chance on me and loving me unconditionally and for getting up at 4:30 AM to go to my races and dealing with my annoying compulsiveness before races and for sharing burritos with me (BTW Mad Mex> Chipotle)

(we look like penguins kissing in that last one)
SORORITY- for being a second family to me, and for supporting everything I do. They rule. Seriously, I love these girls so much! Here's the initiation pic from this year. There's 4 generations of my family tree represented in this one! (grand big, big, myself, and my little)

I am thankful...

  • That I have a great wife who puts up with a lot of crap from me
  • That I am able to do triathlons
  • That I am not living in a war zone
  • That I have food to eat, a place to live, and a little money to spend
  • That my brain works "right" most of the time
  • For all the good friends I have

I am thankful for my family, for having parents who have been married to each other for 40+ years and other family members who love me (even though I won't get to see any of them this week), and for the ways my Aunt M. and my Granny help me understand some of the underlying "stuff" that makes me me.

I am thankful for amazing friends, far better friends than I deserve, especially my roommates. We take care of each other. I'm thankful for my house, and for being able to open it up to people.

I am thankful for reconciliation, which is IMO God's favorite specialty, and especially the recent reconciliations with both of the friends who a few weeks ago I felt had abandoned me.

I am thankful for birds, and yes there are enough wild birds even here in Houston for me to notice and be thankful for, and for trees and sky and hills and water and sunrises and stars and all of the ways God uses those to remind us of our place, and that (in the words of Max Ehrman, Desiderata) the universe is indeed "unfolding as it should."

I am thankful for good health and the opportunities I get to train.

Lots of things... health, amazing people in my life, great job, great team/boss, great assistant, freedom I take for granted everyday, my library card, Valrhona dark chocolate, passport, etc. Today I'm particularly thankful that I'll be in Egypt this weekend on what should be an amazing solo adventure (!!!!).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Renee, have a wonderful time in NYC - how I love Manhattan during the holidays.

I know I am posting this a little late, but we just got word that my dad's cancer is at bay, the tumors are shrinking and now he is getting a 6 week break from treatment. My dad was just getting diagnosed this time last year, so it was really emotional. While we know my dad's cancer is not curable, it is treatable for now, and I am thankful for more time with him to let him know how much we all love him and admire him. Now hopefully his shingles will go away as his immune system gets a chance to build up again.

I am thankful for my most wonderful husband who is coming out of retirement to train with me and do his first tri in 10 years (severe arthritis in his knees has kept him sidelined).

I am of course thankful for my friends who make me laugh everyday.

I am thankful for BT, even though I don't get to "participate" as much as I'd like. I get a lot of inspiration from reading the posts. I've really learned A LOT from this site! I feel I have found my "calling" in triathlons.

And I am really thankful for my kids, who sure have taught me a lot about me!

Wow! Now that puts it all into perspective ... thanks.

I'm thankful for:

- my beautiful wife + best friend,
- my incredibly wonderful three kids who teach me new things each day,
- great friends (the type you could call from jail at 3:00 am from a neighboring state and know that they'll be there as quick as can be (old story - don't ask - but still great friends after all these years),
- being able to give back through volunteering more than I take.

Happy Thanksgiving!

PS: In continuing the picture-a-thon, here are my two oldest kids ...

I am thankful for my family and friends, for strangers, those that wish me well and even those that would do me harm.

I am thankful for logic and reason. Mathematical proofs, induction, standards, Chomsky Normal Form and the Scientific Method.

I am thankful for chaos and an unpredictable world. I am thankful for our inability to be masters of our own domain and our inability to control the nature of existance and/or time.

I am thankful for my Wang and all the good times we have had. Thankful for the Turqy Sunday Lunch Special (its a secret don't ask) and obscure and seemingly meaningless nuances of life that bring me joy.

I'm thankful for the unexplained gravimetric force that anchors us to this world and electricity in my mostly liquid body that keeps my heart pumping.

Mostly I'm thankful that Jesus was a badass and thanks to Him I don't have to spend eternity in the suck.

what a freakishly insightful post into my psyche. theres a reason i don't do these kinda posts often...

I am thankful, first and foremost, for my husband.  We have evolved into friends, lovers, spouses, parents (to the doggies), drinking buddies, traveling companions, and now, training partners.  There is no doubt I would not be where I am without him.

I am also thankful I got fired earlier this year.  (yes, thankful for that.)  If I wouldn't have been fired, I wouldn't have taken the time to realize that I need to take care of myself, not just my patients.  It also made me realize you can work your a$$ off for someone, but at the end of the day, you're the only one who knows how hard you really worked.

Lastly, I am thankful our home was spared from the wind and waters of Katrina.  All my love to those who were not so lucky.
