Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread Who ya got? I'd typically throw my money towards Phil but he's been really rough so far. Although I did read something that the last time he went into the Masters without a win that season was 2010... the year he won the Masters. So there's that. Jason Day always plays well there but he's been injured recently. Rory hasn't put together 4 days since last year. If I had to take some favorites I'd say Adam Scott would be up there, Matt Kuchar is always near the top, Luke Donald has been quiet so far. It would also create some good buzz if Patrick Reed could get on the front page at some point. I have some friends and family that are going down for the practice rounds and such on Wednesday, should be an awesome time for them. |

Playing in a charity scramble next Monday. Haven't played in a couple of months, so spent some time on the range over the weekend. Still trying to figure out my new 3-hybrid. Mark |

Expert 1121 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread I'm going to take the 5-headed monster of Brandt Snedeker, Keghan Bradley, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar or Jason Duffner to win this year. I think the coolest story would be for Jordan Speith to win but that would certainly be tough. I've got the Master's App loaded on my Samsung phone and will be streaming quite a bit at work. If my company thought I was using too much bandwidth during during March Madness, they ain't seen nuthin yet!!!!!! |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread I've had my kid (2 years old) solo all week because my wife is away at a conference so after he goes to bed at 7 I just flip on Golf Channel and watch the Masters Week coverage pretty much the rest of the night. I feel like they're really pumping up Rory but I just don't see it from him. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. I like him, I just don't think he's there right now. I'd love to see Speith do well. Speith, Rory and Patrick Reed are all teeing off at 10:2X on Thursday. I'm sure that group will get some coverage. I still think Adam Scott is in a good spot. Yeah he choked one away a few weeks ago but he was straight up lapping the field. I think it could be a great leaderboard on Sunday. SBS, what app do you have? I have Galaxy S4 and wifi at the office. I should be good to go. |

But better yet is to stream it live on your PC at Masters.com. The broadcast on the PC and the phone is HD and really quite nice! |

Mark I love mine - fills me with confidence. I can smoke it... I'm just starting to figure out the swing with the help of some video apps. Finally on plane, but before that? my 6-3 irons basically went the same distance so that's why I swapped out my 3 and 4 with hybrids to get a little more consistency and fill in the gaps between 5 wood and 6 iron. However, it wasn't the best solution because I can hit the 3h about as well as my 5w! So still have an odd gap. I'm thinking that I will drop one of my woods and go with 3 wedges. |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread I read an awesome article about long irons a while ago and pretty much how the average golfer can go from wedge, 9, 8, 7 and sometimes 6 irons with a nice gap between each. PW 100, 9i goes 120, 8 iron goes 140, 7 goes 155, etc, but once you get to the 5, 4, 3 irons most amateurs top out at like 170-180 yards with totally inconsistent results. I'll see if I can dig it up because it shed some huge light on to why nearly all amateurs have that issue. I'm not sure it was a "fix it" article, possibly just more explanation but it was like it was addressing me spot on. I know I've tinkered with a 3 hybrid but I typically only use it off the tee when it feels like a 5W would be too much or on a par 5 when I have 250+ yards left and I have zero shot of putting it up there so I just want to get as much yardage as possible, which is a totally terrible play because I should just take a 5i and leave myself with >100 yards or something easy. |

Expert 1121 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread For those keeping track, Jonas Blixt is leading the tournament at -3 at 10:29 CST on the first day of the tournament. My money is NOT on him winning it all. |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread Jimenez is up there now too. Fred Couples is 2 back. I'd love to see Freddy win it at his age. Rory and Adam Scott both at 2 under. Stricker and Snedecker right there. Great leaderboard so far. Remember when USA Network would have what seemed like all day coverage of the tournament. |

I am currently carrying 4 wedges: PW goes max about 125, Gap wedge about 115, Sand wedge about 95 and Lob about 70 yards. I dropped my 2-iron to add the Gap wedge and I only carry a Driver and 3-wood. |

I originally got the hybrid with the idea of taking my 2 and 3 irons out of my bag. But I seem to hit it about the same distance as my 5-wood, so not sure exactly where it fits in. I've been carrying a driver, 3 and 5 woods, and have toyed with the idea dropping the 3 wood (which I seldom use) and adding another wedge. Problem is that I haven't been played enough lately to be hitting consistently, which makes clubbing decsisions more of a guess. Mark

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread I'm so in the minority when it comes to wedges. I have a SW and PW. I use my PW from 50-120 yards. I'm so familiar with it I can hit it high, low, whatever. SW for anything inside 50 yards if I need to get it in the air but usually I'll keep it low with an 8 iron and run it up to the hole. I could never get the hang of gap wedges. The weight of the club and feel of it just never worked for me. I like having the single club I can hit different ways. Man, watching the Masters is really making me want to get out and play. |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread Should be an absolutely awesome afternoon watching this tournament play out. I'd like to see Watson or Speith win it, but having someone 2 or 3 strokes back make a charge would also be great to watch. I'd love to see Fowler get up there and kind of make a statement that he can compete. And Freddy, he'd probably be the best story of them all if he won it. |

If he keeps that up, he'll definitely be wearing the jacket. Him and Bubba really dueling it out! Fred is 4 strokes off the lead right now and hopefully he can make a surge. He'd be my first choice, but both Speith and Bubba would be great too. I'm not leaving my couch the rest of the afternoon. |

A truly awesome job dismantling a beyatch of a golf course! I wanted to see Spieth do it but he played a great tournament. Not much action from either of them in the last 9 and Bubba just kind of cruised in. He was killing the ball off the tee though. Just hammering it beyond belief. I think they said he was -8 on the par 5's when others weren't even close. Now he's got even more confidence there, I see him winning another one at some point too. |

Expert 1207 Parker, Co | Subject: RE: 2014 Official Golf Thread Probably one of the least exciting Masters I've watched. Entering the back nine it just felt over...the usual Sunday afternoon roars were subdued it seemed..I guess this course is perfect for Bubba - a wild right to left slingshot seems to work on 15 of 18 holes |
