Subject: RE: Google must be stopped!I don't have any real issue with Google because they've done a great job of building a service better than anybody else. They simply are the best search engine with the easiest to use interface. They then took that foundation and built an empire of innovative products such as google apps, google maps, android OS, and may more. I don't like that they sell my data to make money, but I also am well aware that they do it and continue to use their service so I'm OK with that. If anything me giving them access to my data is how I'm paying for their awesome services. If I were to have a bone to pick with them, it's in the context of political censorship and agenda based search results. There have been some examples in the past where people have caught them pushing certain secular progressive search results to people searching for conservative subjects. I don't get all tinfoil hat over it, because people have manipulated their algorithms for political gain that wasn't googles fault as well. I think a year or two back there was a big uproar on HuffPo when the second or third result to "murder" was an anti-abortion site. Google had nothing to do with it, but it was a great example of the power they possess as the traffic cop to the information super. |
