Best Running Shoes - 2007 (Page 2)

Stupid Ascis - I have been wearing the Nimbus for years & loving them - until the 9. shelled out 100 bucks and I have never had so much foot and knee pain in my life. Just got some new Saucony, the jury is still out on them. I need a nice neutral shoe with some good cushion, but I am finding the newer cushion shoes have NO arch support : (

New Balance 1061 - first run was as comfortable as any run for the whole year, instant favorite!!!

Only New Balance. I've had two serious running injuries over the years, one wearing Nike Air's, the other with Reebok's. New Balance 1600 for distance, 825 for mid-distance, RC240 and RC950 for sprints and track, 1100 for trails. Trouble is that they keep introducing new models, and obsoleting the ones I know.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6 here. Great breathability, no slip on the heel but still plenty of width in the toebox. I have 2 pairs being retired at the end of the year with a total of 1,000 miles in 2007 between them. Well built with the only complaint is that the laces are about 3 feet too long. Nothing a pair of scissors and an open flame couldn't fix.

I love my Nimbuses!  So light, durable and way comfy!  I have 3 pairs, and love them dearly...they are my precious!

I love the fit and the light but extremely durable construction of Mizunos.  If you have narrow feet and are an efficient/neutral runner, this is the brand for you. 

Although I just got them I love my NEWTONS!

Having multiple knee reconstructions the last 3 years, I have absolutely no knee pain at all no matter what the surface is. I needed to take some time to get used to them, but they seem to get better and better the more I use them.

It would be really hard for me to go back to a traditional heal strike shoe.

Maybe I have bought into the hype, but they have worked for me.

Newtons are hands-down the best running shoes I have ever used. Over the past year, I have been able to run further, a smidge faster, and remain injury free. I love me some Newtons!!!

For guys like me with wide feet, the toe box in Saucony's seem to suit me the best.

New Balance all the way for me. For the beginners out there like me, the first thing you should do is go to a running store and see exactly what running style you are before researching what shoe to buy. I didn't and it killed me every time I ran....my knees and shins definitely paid the price. I am now running on New Balance 8515's and they are great......and for once New Balance made a good looking shoe!

I looooved my Asics Gel-Landreths. Note that I say loveD. I don't really like the re-done version of them, it feels like there's too much padding in the ankle for me, which I don't like. I tried the Nimbus 9s, and they were...ok. And I ordered a pair and for whatever reason my running store in the states dropped the ball and didn't order them before I left for Scotland again. So I went to a running store here and tried on about eleventy billion shoes, and wound up buying a pair of Saucony Trigon's that feel exactly like my old Landreths. Best part? they were on sale .

Newton's. No questions ask, the only shoes to wear!

I'm all about the New Balances - one my 6th pair overall.  But I'm skewed b/c I've not tried the other brands (except Nike).

With my weight (220 lbs) and my overpronation, the Brooks Beast works great for me. I had Asics Kayanos before and they were okay also, but the fit of the Beasts seems better for my narrow feet...

I love my Nike Air Zoom Vomero 2+...i have been told by several people whom have accessed my gait, that i have the most neutral gate they have ever seen...so i went this a shoe that has excellent cushioning (without the shoex crap haha - wore those when they first came out...two heavy and not worth it)...on the other hand, the Vomero...amazing! Feel like im floating on these bad boys! They also have a tone of spring to them!

Great training shoe...i would recommend to anyone with a neutral gate!

I have always worn Mizunos - I have small narrow feet, neutral runner and I love the durability. Recently added the Brooks glycerin to my shoes and I"M LOVING them. They are great for the long runs, will keep the mizunos for shorter sprints.

I am curious about the Newtons - would love to try a pair. (if they werent so costly).

I love the 2E option, saucony are for chinese feet, I also like asics

I switched from brooks --> mizuno ---> newtons --> shin splints.

i dropped to a 6/6:30 min mile (from a low 7) when i started rocking the newtons. It wasnt too long after that i had to stop running to recover from shin splints. So i dont know what to tell you. they incapacitated me, but made me super fast. id get them?

I am a neutral runner, 150lb, with high arches and I love Nike Pegasus. After years with the Pegasus, for some reason (a sale?) I switched to Asics Nimbus (VII, I think) and was rewarded with a stress fracture in my foot. I also found them very hot... not in the sexy way. Two pairs of New Balance have totally fallen apart on me on the inside of the shoe. Weird. So I am sticking with Pegasus. I am afraid to try anything else. But, I will echo many others and say that you must run in what's best for you, not what's trendiest, prettiest, most expensive or got the most votes in a poll.
