I hope they catch the traitors! lol, so true. I told my son that a long time ago about George Washington. He was writing something about how much of a hero he was, and I told him that he was actually a traitor. He was a British citizen who revolted against the crown and even lead battles against the British Army. He's probably one of the biggest traitors in British history. |

I'm not saying that he wouldn't eventually get to the point he did, but that's where it starts. Secondly, how many years did he willingly participate? And then he got tired of it? That's just a bunch of bullchit. I wouldn't do it one time, not ONCE. Hero my arse. He's an idiot, traitor, and a coward. Edited by Left Brain 2013-07-08 12:15 PM |

Agreed What would you have preferred Snowden did? He himself was part of the intelligence community. He had access to classified information. If he felt something needed to be reported he could have first gone to the Inspector General. If they did nothing then at least he would have had something of a defense. He purposely stole national security data, went straight to the press. What he did was reckless and now he's trying to run away. I mean, what did he think would happen? |

So Snowden finds out his section of the government is corrupt and is doing things it should not do, oh and they are willing to lie about it to Congress. And he is supposed to just run a complaint up the chain of command and think that something will be done about it? That is laughable at best. Heck yes they would have done something about it, they would have shut him up and ruined his life as they are trying to do now. He is not an idiot by any means. He gathered enough to scare them then told the public what their government was up to. He should have planned his exit strategy a bit better, that is the only not so smart move I see so far. Idiot and coward he is not. That would be fearing terrorists so much as to relinquish freedoms to a corrupt government and hoping they do the right thing. |

They work for us and exist by our grace, they seem to think and operate the opposite. If I was any more calm I'd be alseep. I've worked for a govt. agency my whole life, so has my wife....so I end up knowing alot of people who work for the govt. You'd likely be surprised at how dedicated and responsible most of them are. My issue with snowden, besides the fact that he's a slimeball azzhole, is that this whole deal is probably much more politically motivated (by whoever is backing him) than it is "constitutional rights" driven, as most of the fans of snowden want me to believe. This is part of a smear on the Obama led white house, which I'm no fan of either.....but the information gathering has been going on for a looong time, and it crosses party lines. Snowden is the butt boy, and they couldn't have picked a better one to compromise, but I would like to know the entire story....and my bet is that it's a nasty affair. Hell, that dumbarse may well up missing yet.....but you could point your fingers in alot of different directions over how that may happen. He's a traitor......I don't care what happens to him. That is purely your opinion and something I hope you don't really believe as you have absolutely no way of knowing why someone thinks the way they do. I don't care if Mother Theresa was in charge, I am not okay with the Dept of Homeland Security, the NSA, the Patriot Act, etc. You are far too focused on the teatt for tat partisan politics game. The government, no matter who is in the Whitehouse is out of control and far beyond the bounds of what was originally intended. |

Pro 5755 | Subject: RE: Snowden? Can I play? Here's my take: 1. This country really needs to wake up and pay attention to the erosion of rights in the name of 'national security.' Guess what? You can record every single conversation, every email, and have people spying on each other, like the good old days of East Germany, and some zealot will still find a way to kill people. 2. I'm glad that the Snowden saga is making people think, although I fully expect it will fade into the background as we go back to worrying about the Kardashians, football season, and other mindless drivel. (Note - don't hate on me, I love football, I'm just saying we as a nation have short attention spans and lack of interest in real problems). 3. Snowden is a creep and a traitor, and in this case shooting the messenger is a likely outcome. I also think LB is correct in that this is more than a one person vendetta. As little as I believe in conspiracy theories, I have a very hard time believing this guy is acting alone and without resources. |

I'm not American, I'm Canadian, and I'm a police officer. Here's my take. I hope the government is recording every call. I want them to be able to track patterns to stop as many terrorist acts as possible. The government doesn't care what you do, who you talk too, or what you talk about, Unless its about killing people. I could care less who listens to my conversations. Fill your boots. Then again I'm a law abiding citizen that thinks that the government has gone to far trying to appease the 5% of people who whine and complain about every right under the sun being infringed on. These are the first people to complain that the police/courts didn't do their job when killers walk out of the court room free because of a legal loop hole. I feel the government can listen to as many calls as they want as long as it saves me from having to explain to even one person why their loved one is dead. Just my two cents, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it's their right. I personally hope Snowden is caught and tried. He just cost your government millions, if not billions of tax dollars and has most likely set back countless national security investigations. I just hope no one dies because of information not being gained now. Edited by BigDaddyD79 2013-07-08 5:53 PM |

I just read this by the EFF and it' a bit chilling.
