What really bothered me were those darn river snakes. They'd swim right next to you. You'd think that they would be scared off but no, take a stroke, take a breath, look to the side, and there they were, right in your face...... just smiling!

You probably have a better chance of winning the lotto than to get attacked by some lare toxic algae surviving catfish that was once crossed with a piranha.

Thank you for making me giggle . . .

Im not worried for me (as a kid I ate Dirt), I just fear someone at NAS will get scared and try to turn the race into a duathlon! That would SUCK! Can you get a refund if they do that?

Are there really snakes? And you can see them while you're swimming?

Stop all the insanity!!!  From my log during today's swim.....

Lost track of laps...my mind kept bouncing back between thoughts of Mike Reilly yelling "abbie Feibush 809 from Tiburon, Ca is out of the water" to him saying "number 809 just got her -ss chewed off by a big f-in catchfish!" yes, i am one of those people who still hears the theme of Jaws in my head when I swim in a pool.

Ten9T6 - 2008-08-25 3:06 PM haha.. come on people.. Think about it.. you all go to lakes and swim, tube, ski, and dive and really don't think about this stuff.. don't think about it now. Just get in, swim, and get out. I have seen... well make that bumped into some very large fish in fresh water, but if you see / feel one, you have other issues you need to handle... like covering the 80+ feet of water between you and the surface....or getting out of the holes in the bank. No matter where you are, you can find stories about "fresh water" piranhas in lakes and rivers. We had one around here last year, along with gators getting pulled from swimming areas. You hear about this is because it is rare. You probably have a better chance of winning the lotto than to get attacked by some lare toxic algae surviving catfish that was once crossed with a piranha. No need to worry about this stuff. I fear the bike and run much more than anything we will face in the water... including bullsharks that can live in fresh water for years well.. nevermind...just kidding. Just think of how cool your Race report will be if you have to fight off a school of mad 120 lbs catfish... Kenny
Take it from me, you all should be more worried about Kenny having vertigo issues and puking in the water during the swim and having to swim through that.  I would make sure he has in ear plugs!!!

I'm still waiting on that new bike you promised me for my birthday.  With the cute training wheels.

Funniest thing I've read all day!  I can barely type I'm laughing so hard.

Not to worry Abbie, In all my years of fishing the bayous of Louisiana as a kid, I  never caught at catfish on a top-water jig!

Haha.. the "chumming" of the water only happens in cold water... we are facing 81 degrees.... And so what if I do... I will say it was a little algea bloom... and hope the big catfish get it.

And I thought I missed you that day.... I think David was the one that needed goggle wipers.. Plus.. Infinit cost too much to be putting it back into the river.

I think I need to go to Target and see if I can find a rubber shark for the Gatorade swim on Friday.  Or, better yet, a giant blow-up shark for Abbie to swim with.

Haha.. I have two boxes (not all for there of course) of crack.... also known as Vanilla Orange Roctane.. ... Hey Gary... it is a good ice cream topper !

On a side note, Gary... I did find a Krispy Cream for you, about a block off of the run course.

by all that I hold holy,, Are you for real... really ,,,, I'm so there,, I'll be in contact with said doughnut place  so they can have someone out on the course for me.. Crap now I got to drive to friso and get a krispy cream... .

I wonder if I put a doughnut on the end of a string and tie it to my waist if that would work as a catfish lure....   how cool would that be to have one of those monsters about ten feet behind me..

Or you could put one on a stick and string to hang in front of you on the run to act as a Gaarryy lure.

Luckily I did miss the chumming but just wanted to make sure everyone was prepared just in case.
