Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Try taking the original picture and re-size it in photoshop or whatever photo program you have. Make it about 2 or 300 X 2 or 300 pixels. Then go to file "save as" and rename the smaller version. Hope this helps! |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My "boys": Zeppelin-3 year old golden retriever Kaiser-2 year old weimaraner I take them running with me MOST of the time, because they bounce off the walls(literally) if they go one day without running or hiking! However, when I'm going for a run any longer than 60 min. my golden retriever(who's going blind due to juvenile cataracts, and also has hip problems) cannot keep up, so I have to take them for a hike, then I go running alone! I want to take them open-water swimming with me, but first I need to get some of those doggie life-vests! :-) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have two boys, both resuced from the pound and the most loving dogs you could imagine. Sam is a blonde lab/sheperd mix, he's not too into fitness but does enjoy the occasional walk around the block. Buddy is a black/white lab/great dane mix. Funny thing, when we resuced him from the pound we thought he was full grown lab. We took him to the vet and soon learned he was only 4 months old. Needless to say, he's quite a big fellow now. He keeps me occupied during my runs. (thepooldogs.jpg) Attachments ---------------- thepooldogs.jpg (14KB - 62 downloads) |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My best friend grew up with a Weimer named Kaiser. He lived to be 17; I hope the same happens for your Kaiser. (Now she's got her on Weimer, Agustus (Gus for short).) |

Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mrs. bear, who loves all things furry, thinks all your puppies are cute and insisted I post pictures of our mutts. Delly, on the left, is the older, we think she has some Pomeranian in her; she's getting old and gray, used to be all black. Wrinkles is about a year old, a rat terrier/dachshund mix, and bad as the day is long. Neither of them works out, except by trying my patience. Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Everyone has some good lookin dogs!! They are great. We have two low rider models, a mini Dachshund (Juniper) and her buddy Tucker, a toy Rat Terrier. Juniper is content to lay around, watch TV and sleep. Tucker on the other hand is about 90% spring loaded and just wants to play and eat. He had a total ACL repair about a year ago and still is not 100% but is all heart. I would like to get him up to running a little bit with me but his health is most important. He likes to swim too. Check them out here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=236&photoid=1444 |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a 70 some pound Yellow Lab who loves his rawhide bones named Espn (pronounced Espen). We got him 5 years ago from Lab Rescue when he was 5 yrs old and weighing just about 50lbs and you could see his ribs. He is great with all the kids and loves to run around the yard chasing whatever you throw. Not much on the endurance side though, he tires quickly. I have taken him on short runs in the past but he finds things of interest and slows to a walk. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all... I have three wonderfully beautiful puppies... ok, I call them puppies. Loki is a 5yr old Bullmastiff who is awesome and 125lbs - he runs only for 1/4 block, then he walks... and sniffs everything! Both Loki and Sarge were obtained through breeders.... but... we rescued Otter from a just arrested fake breeder... Kim81 - there are GSP rescue sites and e-mail lists you can join, that's how we heard about Otter's litter being abandoned by this breeder guy... There are apparently a lot of GSPs needing rescuing, they have a lot of energy so people who can't handle them just leave them behind when they move or let them go w/o taking them to a shelter... Who ARE these people???? We rescued her while we were in Boulder, she's from Ft. Collins!!!! COURT JESTER ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TRZ, Cool on the Pointer rescue. Ourdog pic is on the first page of this topic and we rescued ours (pointer mix) and agree that they want to be in your hip pocket. Ours is crate trained and sleeps there at night in the kitchen. If you have a PetSmart near you they have a GSP specific magazine on the rack that deals with personalities, temperments, origins, training and such. I use a pinch collar when I run with the dog and when he stops to sniff, the command is COME and he comes running. If he doesn't he gets a good tug when the 16' retactable hits its limit. ![]() HAPPY RUNNING Tupuppy |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() All the pups here are soo soo cute!!! I can get otter to heel/listen when I use a combination of the halti collar (goes around the nose) and a choke chain... the chain never goes into effect because the halti is so effective, but she doesn't like it and knows its there so she behaves even more when it's on.... I've tried training her w/ treats, but once we are out on the sidewalk she pays no attention to me or the treats and just goes straight for whatever bird, leaf, squirrel or whatever catches her eye - she's a real puller! But the halti really works for her... The Bully isn't really supposed to run anyway, so I figure if I get a 1/2 block out of him and he just wants to stroll after that, it's ok w/ me!!! He'll be 6 in October and still acts like a 3 year old, so I figure that if he still has this much energy now and his joints are in good working order, I'll keep them that way by keeping him walking slow... does that make sense? Yeah, like I said, you have to alllow them to sleep w/ you, and I do... we tried crate training her, but she wasn't having it... after over a month of training, she'd still cry the whole time she was in there (we went out to dinner and a movie and when we got home she was still yelping away....) and kept it up for 5 min after we let her out.... The other two took to it much easier! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks TRZ and Tupuppy! I'll tell my boyfriend about the GSP sleeping with you thing, but I have a feeling he won't go for it. He's very anti-dogs on furniture. Barry likes to crawl up on the couches when we're gone, so Eric covers them with tin foil before we leave the house. LOL! I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to bring company over, and say "Oh, let me just move the tin foil before you sit down." :-P When Eric's gone, I let Barry up on the couch to snuggle with me. We're going to try to crate train our GSP. Since it'll just be a little puppy, I think we'll be able to get it to stick. We'll probably use it less as she grows up, depending on how much she likes it. The GSP Rescue called last night, by the way!!!! We weren't home unfortunately, but that they're getting back to us so promptly is a good sign, I think. Keep your fingers crossed. We're so stoked about getting one! Eric wants to make her a frisbee dog. I wanna make her my running partner (thank God for halties/gentle leaders!) and maybe do agility with her!!! Oh, I didn't post a pic of Barry. This is him about a week after we got him! :-) (meandbarry2.JPG) (meandbarry3.JPG) Attachments ---------------- meandbarry2.JPG (76KB - 111 downloads) meandbarry3.JPG (33KB - 57 downloads) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a 1.5 y/o yellow lab named Murphy. He heals wonderfully and loves to jog w/ me. I haven't taken him on anything longer than 3.1 yet however. As long as it isn't too hot I think he would handle it just fine. (Murphy's First B-day 003.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Murphy's First B-day 003.jpg (41KB - 93 downloads) |
