One extreme or the other!  I have my running tights packed "just in case" its that cold.  I am packing the whole dang running kit for everything from low 40's to 70's.  My wife thinks I am nuts, I think she's right.  I hate taper week.

Low 40's is shorts weather for a marathon.  Wish I was running this year.  If it's not raining I'll probably bike down to mile 24 or 25 with my HTFU sign.  Look for me if you need someone to yell at you to keep moving Yell

suppose you're right about the shorts, still sounds cold, especially compared to the 70's-80's for the last two years.  HTFU "motivation" - please.

You should appreciate the cool weather! After the past two years, trust me when I tell you that you do NOT want 90s! That not only hurt it made me all woozy and such. And the heat last year kept me from PRing by about 4 minutes!!!

Would you looky here.  I haven't been paying attention to my little race link to see that people were posting.  Anyway, I am sure you all received the latest email with Doc's tips but here is a reminder:
PREPARATION TIPS
  • Layer your clothing, but do not overdress. You want to feel slightly chilly when you start running. Your body generally heats up approximately 20 degrees, so dress as if it is 20 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. You can shed your outer layers of clothing as you begin to warm up.

I was thinking a post-race gathering for food and drinks. I arrive back in town on Sunday morning so I won't be able to have any involvement in the race whatsoever, but a bunch of my friends are doing it and I want to go to their post-race gatherings.

Umm...Monday is Columbus day. I am 99% sure all schools are off.

Pick a time and place for meet ups

Hi there!  Me and my husband will be running this year (representing the MI BTers)...and I'm so excited!  We'd be up for a Sunday evening get together if only to lessen the pain   And pennylope, my bday was this Monday, and this is sort of my celebration weekend too!

Another random question for the locals...we're bunking up with a friend on Sat. night at the Hotel Sax on Dearborn...any tips for parking?  It's $42 at the hotel, and I'm not sure if we should just pay it (realizing that parking is crazy expensive downtown) or if I should search for another lot/garage since it will just be for one day?

You can find surface lots at $20 a day but they're not really close to your hotel. Good luck at the race!

Another option to check is the old IBM Building (330 N. Wabash), just west of Trump Tower.  I used to park in there when I drove for work and it was $16 a day for indoor parking.  I'm sure it has gone up some in the last few years, but probably not up to $42.

Here's that 1%...I work in the Glenview school district and we are in session.  In fact, they always schedule picture day on Columbus Day.  No taking off the day after the marathon for me.

At the expo do you have to have cash only if you want to purchase something?  Do they have debit card accessibility or checks?
