Trying to I have been woefully neglecting the bike until just recently. Those are some very strong 20s. I'm impressed. What are you averaging for your oly bike?

Thanks!  My best 40k bike split is 24.11 (1:01:50), but usually I'm around 23.5 to 24 depending on the course when I'm at my peak, which I appear to be nearing just in time for my next race.

OMG! So jealous.  That is completely AWESOME!  Wow.  Strong work.  Good luck, and I like the bet, btw.

Thanks.  It took a lot of work to get where I am now.  The bet has added a little more fire to my efforts.  Competition is definitely one of the bigger things that drives me in this sport.

I love the competition too.  It's a sickness.

How long have you been riding and doing tris?

Had some rough riding today.  Showed up for an organized ride, but forgot my bike shoes.  A friend had an extra pair, but his speedplays are a different flavor than mine, so they would clip in, but they unclipped anytime I pulled up with anything over light force.  Had to cut the ride short, because I was too big of a liability in the group.  Deciding to have some cheese with my whine, I did a quick 9 miler with my shoes to add a little more distance.

Combined mileage for today's stage - 40.5

Nice rides.  Headen out for an additional 9 after the shoe change is pure pro.

Did he just have the tension set differently on the speedplays or is the clip mechanism different?

I couldn't even begin to count how many training sessions I've effed up because I've forgotten something.  I live 35 miles from where I work too, so it's no quick zip home if I forget something.

Where is the rest of our team???

Hello? :)  Are you out there? :

I have done some longish commuting a couple of days a week during the summers for the last two years.  I threw my hat into the tri ring last year when I bought a bike in September.  I rode it pretty consistently for the first month, then we had an early cold fall--and I have a real problem with cold and the bike; if it's less than 45, I just can't go--yet :)

I went to a pretty intense 75 minute interval spin class all winter taught by a semi-pro cyclist who has advanced degrees in both physical therapy and exercise science, and her classes have been instrumental in helping me learn about what different types of interval sets do, how to do them, cadence work and working my pedal stroke.  Got a trainer in early January and did some Trainer Road, but not enough, not nearly enough, and then ended up taking a big break from the bike while recovering from an "over reaching" period.  And then we had a really cold spring.

My first time on my bike outside this year was my first tri (naughty).  My second time on my bike outside this year was my second tri (naughty, naughty).

I have done a swim focus and run focus with a lot of success, so now I'm trying a bike focus.  This is really the first intensive period I've dedicated to the bike, and it's already paying off.  It's so funny--did you know that if you spend time working at one of the disciplines, you actually improve?!?  I know, I know it's a revolutionary idea.  You're welcome;P

The clip mechanism was different slightly. Just enough to where I would unclip 1389793847 times while on the ride. Frustrating, but c'est la vie.Edit: Our team has been quiet. Even Yanti is quiet, which I didn't think was possible!

Excellent. I remain master of the impossible

As I said, just a lot of overwhelming life stuff going on. I don't remember the last time I wasn't exhausted.

Yanti, it really sounds like you've had a rough. rough go of it lately.  Well, except for the Chris part;)  Hope you're starting to feel better and that your food tolerance starts to improve.  Hugs.

I have no idea where the mile and 2 mile were in the meet because hellz to the no I wasn't going to run those.  But I ran 400s and 100s and 4 x100 and 4 x 400.  And the 400s and relays were always close.  I can't even imagine adding a mile and a 2 mile to a 400 and a 4 x 400.  Eff that.  So I'm assuming your run is pretty strong too then?
