HOLY MOLY!!

Sounds like the BT gathering is going to be a bit larger this year. Last year it was a whopping......3 of us.

With my constant nagging I managed to get my wife and her cousin to sign up but only as a relay team - yet I'm so excited that I got them in there. "Super Heros In Training" is our team name (you need a name to enter) Not crazy about the accronym but that's as far as our imagination would take us.

Hope we can all meet (even if for a few seconds). Maybe show battle scars & tell war lies. I have two little ones joining us 7mo and 3YO as our cheerleading team.

There will be another carbon copy of this race in Aug - I may do that one as a single (running progress...or not pending. hope to enter either NYC or Philly marathon for 08)

Eddie, I have a two-year-old and four-year-old - maybe then can hang with your kiddies.

That acronym is pretty funny!

1stTimer: Dont' you want to see how much faster you'll be compared to last year?

I love the optimism, but you're assuming I'll be faster

I am much less trained this year than last year (Swim/run) bike is ahead of last year.  I do want to do the race, but I do also want to get as much quality training as I can get for my first shot at HIM distance in July.  I'm so John Kerry on this issue.....

I'm also going to bring my son to the race - 3 months old. Well.... If I can get the wife out of bed to make the trek from Sayville to East Meadow.

I'm looking forward to beating my 3.5 min in T1 last year :-)

Last year the weather was fantastic, I hope for the same this year.

Tim - Price is Right time...... Comon down !

I'm looking forward to meeting the group.

Sounds good Bob, provided mine decides to play shy that day - she's like the wind, I guess like some 3YOs.

Any suggestions on how we can all meet? Last year we wound up meeting just before the swim (during race brief). 1st Timer and I happened to be sitting right next to each other without knowing it until we asked "you from BT?" (like crack dealers fishing for any takers).

I could color my swim cap (they were not mandatory last year) all kinds of crazy colors just for ease of spotting me.

Ah, so I should go buy a swim cap!  I don't have one of those yet.  For lack of a better idea: we can write letters BT in black magic marker on the cap...  or just tell me a color and I'll buy it.

The weather report, 10-day forecast mind you, says Sunny 55 degrees.

Okay, scratch the Swim Cap idea.  I just checked out last years results, and way too many people in the top twenty are separated by two seconds.  Since this is a Sprint especially, the three or four seconds it may take me to get the cap off my head and fumble with it - isn't worth it for me.  My goal - lofty I know - is to place top Ten.  And since this is my first Tri ever I want to keep it simple as possible.

Don't forget to BRICK this weekend and practice your transitions people!!

I got a bright red cap and wrote BT on the back.
See you all there!

Did my bike/run brick again this weekend. It feels good, so I hope it does on race day too.

Okay, I watched the "The Great Escape" Florida triathlon on t.v. over the weekend and it takes no time while your running to pull off a swim cap, so I will wear a swim cap and write BT in black on the back.  Sorry, first race jitters.

Dude, I'm going by what history has said about this race in the past 3 years, high-50's in the early AM, mid-60's by race start, high-60's to low-70's by the time I'm off on the bike or running AND SUNNY ALL THREE YEARS, INCLUDING 2008......RIGHT?!?!.

The weather is looking real good !

If you guys can't spot me during the swim ( I should be in the 8:10 - 8:30 group ) I will be sporting the Sunrise Tri Top during the Bike & Run.

I did a nice Sprint BRICK last night.  I'm ready to Rock!!  This is what my swim cap will look like:

Question:  Should I bring my race belt to hold a race number for when we run?  Is there a number we put on our bike?

Last year they gave you a number to wear for the run portion and I strongly suggest wearing the belt. Last year I did not know what a runners belt was and used saftey pins.......Can you say newbie !

I will be there as well wearing the Sunrise Tri gear. I have to admit, I am wondering how I am going to get the top on after the swim. I don't know about you but mine is very snug. I can only imagine struggling with that thing while soaking wet and trying to grab my bike at the same time. I am really looking forward to it. Should be fun.

I did this event last year and just wore my tri top during the swim. You will have a difficult time getting the tri top on when you are wet.

How about just a simple running top (semi-loose), should slip on without much difficulty. The entire course will take us under an hour.

I would also suggest meeting to the left of the bleachers where we will be getting our race briefing (opposite side of the audience). That's where the 3 of us wound up meeting by chance last year.

I just tried putting on my Tri Top after the shower - NOT EASY !

The Sunrise Tri Top has pockets on the side, so I'm wondering if I wear this during the swim will it cause a parachute effect and slow me down ?

I think I will hit the pool tonight and try to swim with the top on and see what happens......

Meeting to the left of the bleachers sounds like a plan!  However, due the trip and time, I've opted to let the wife and kiddies stay home and sleep in.

Like you tri geeks, I'm gonna take a shower and see if I can get my tri top on...  I really don't wanna swim with it and then wear a soaking wet shirt in the wind while riding a bike.

Also, I did a BRICK today and I did the bike and run sockless, so that's definitely the route I'm going.  If it were an Olympic or any distance greater I would probably go sockless for the bike, and the throw on socks for the run.

I'm going to commence a two-day taper and lay low for tomorrow and Friday.  Wanna be fresh for my first tri!
