Master 1903 Portland, Oregon | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Excellent!!! I KNEW if I could get on this team I'd be with a bunch of winners!! I am Leigh, about 42-ish, one sprint tri under my swimsuit, and I am a bike-a-holic. Like many of you, I lost a load of weight (for me 50#) and discovered that this new body could be fast at various sports not to include swimming. (Who knew??) Last May, NightOwl talked me into doing a tri with her so I signed up, and then got me some swim lessons. I've played in pools. I had "absence of drowning" skills. I've never "gone anywhere" in the water, though, so this lap business/swimming with a stroke stuff is totally new. As soon as I did my tri, I pretty much stopped swimming - more time for biking you know - but recently I signed up for another sprint and an Oly in August and am back with swim lessons and pool time. So I totally feel for ya BunnyB - good for you not cycling and signing up anyway. You can do it. I just got into bike racing this summer so have been doing that, and I have a hammerfest ride with a bunch of guys. I usually have a crazy long post about it on Thursday evenings. Hopefully it will entertain you as much as that ride Hubby (Brian) trains with me (not swimming) and we will be watching the TdF as soon as we are done complaining that a bunch of our favorite guys and teams got left out. We are TdF freaks and tivo it every day so we can come home and watch. I read Pez for updates, and hubby also reads Velo News, then we watch, so not a problem with spoilers. Unless I manage to damage myself (knock wood), it won't be a problem to make my miles. Can't wait to start. I'm busier at work now, so don't post as much, but I'll try to get around the inspires. GO BARLOWORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread I bumped the pretty tables that Dee made for us. I like to post them in my goals on my training log so I have easy access to the team members for inpsires and to the spreadsheet for updates You should be able to copy and paste the table into your goals section Just ask Dee if you need any help LOL |

Bob 2194 Binghamton, NY | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Hello Team Barloworld!!! What a great team we have shaping up here. I'm Bob from upstate NY and have been doing tri's for a few years now. My first was in July of 2005 and I have been an addict ever since. Swimming and biking are my strengths and I am actually starting to enjoy running. (I never thought those words would come out of my mouth ) I got the challenge started today with a broken up 50 miles. I warmed up for my sprint race by riding to the race, did the 12 mile bike durinig the race and rode home after the race. Unfortunately, I did 82 miles yesterday that I can't count for the challenge. I actually have to look back and see what I put down for a goal. I have a HIM I'll be tapering a bit for this week but will be right back to IM training after that. Get out there and ride everyone!!! GO BARLOWORLD!!! |

Extreme Veteran 459 | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Hello team! I think I've decided on 9 stages at 9 hours. Looks like we're all getting worked up over and I even noticed a bit of smack talk too....just wait til I am bored at work and hvave some real time to hang out here! As for an intro - I am Dolores this is my second year doing tri and I'm about to go and do Vineman here in 2 weeks! Yahoo. Its been a long haul since I signed up. I started on this physical fitness journey with yours truly Ms. Yanti who talked me into a marathon in 2006 and I've never stopped running. then last year I did the Danskin with almost no training - well just running - and bought a bike 3 days after that. Its been fun, its been really hard sometimes too. I am here to tell you though that I am shrinking (losing weight I mean) slowly but surely. I am a single mom of a 12 year old daughter, Camille, who is amazing (of course she's mine!) I have 2 cats and a dog too. I went back to school last year. I am lookign forward to the challenge here and got in a great ride this morning - it was truly beautiful out today. I never thought I'd be one of those people who could just whip out "oh yeah I rode 43 miles on PCH today" but that's what I did today. One of my goals with this challenge besides the riding of course is to keep up with this board and inspire as much as I can. I've aleady gotten some from you guys already - THANK YOU!! So, off we go!!! Go Barloworld! Edited by DoloresM2 2008-07-05 10:49 PM |

What a diverse and fabulous team we have I hope everyone had a great weekend and had a chance to get some T.I.T.S.! unfortunately I'm battling a nasty ear infection and it has taken me down for the count - at least it's at the beginning of the challenge, so hopefully I can still make my goals - I'll do my best that's for sure!
