swishyskirt - 2008-09-01 11:44 AM Late starter here! My name is Mirjam (spelled funny, pronounced like "Miriam". I'm doing an Olympic Tri on Saturday so my mileage will be a little low this week (taper, sorry) but then I go headlong into Philly Marathon training! I'm in for 85 miles. So...do we have a mascot like those super slow Billikens (which looks kinda creepy in my opinion...am I right)? And to echo a previous poster, how do we post the team roster/mascot and such on our logs? Gooooo, Stumpies!!

Welcome to the club Mirjam.  Good luck on your goal and the upcoming Olympic Tri.

Starting the week off in style...with a rest day. I suck! lol.

I've got a few bricks scheduled this week, but easy taper week lifting. So, 2 mile run on Thursday, then 6.2 miles on race day. I'm lame. Please don't kick me off the team. I'll make it up to you next week. Promise.

Also, what...is a "Stumpie"???

hey all... sorry to be posting late to this thread...

I'm in for 80... I have an OLY on Sep 13, and a half-marathon in mid-Oct.  so I probably guessed under what I will run...

and thanks for taking on the captainhoodness  Kristen.

I was supposed to start yesterday with 9 miles... I only got 4.5... due to a funeral I had to preside over.

but it can only get better, yeah?

Go STUMPIES!

I too started September with a rest day...it was just what I needed.

I ran 3.57 miles this morning (shooting for 70 this month...although I may go higher). After my Oly on Sunday, I will be switching to run-focus for a half-mary. I love LOVE LOVE LOVE running.

Running is the best sport ever!

Maybe it's because it doesn't require any "real" equipment or prep. Biking, gotta worry about the busy roads and getting up early enough not to get hit by a car. Swimming, gotta worry about the pool schedule, when it's busy and when it's open...

I find myself sometimes having to convince myself to get on the bike or in the pool. But throwing on running shoes and heading out the door? It's like second nature. It always feels good.

Wow... there's a whole tutorial on these...ok, so I made a girl version in pink (because that's what girls do--ummm, sorry no offense meant, akustix, you totally rock for making that, it actually gave me a headache reading the code, but I WAS able to figure out how to change the color...) but now I can't figure out how to make the top part a mascot (which I assume should be like...a tree hugger or something? lol).

Akustix, you seem to know what you're doing... help?

Morning, Stumpies!

This is a friendly reminder from your team cap'n to make sure you log all of your running miles in your training log...so I can pull them out and send them to the powers that be. I think the first update is due this weekend, so put them in by then.

Friendly cap'n, signing out.

i am on the DL right now, my left leg (hammy/calf) will not cooperate with my training, i will get some miles in tonight, even if i have to power walk them, and i should be able to start full time running next week.

Alrighty, so I got 3.17 in tonight.  That makes 19+ this week so far.  Only 80ish left.  I guess it could be worse.  I think I might run into work tomorrow which is 3.5 each way, so that will help.

Reporting time is 9/1 - 9/6, so I'll probably pull them out on Sunday evening after my Oly.

My miles are going to stink this week, with tapering, but will bounce back up next week (and I'm probably not the only one in this boat...so don't expect greatness from the Stumpies early...we're kinda like the tortoise, not the hare).

Dear Team Captains,

This is the first weekend of reporting.  Please email me your results by Sunday.  The earlier the better!!

My email is shawnbarr99@ yahoo.com.

What I need:

·         Each team members name and their miles run from 9/1 to 9/6

It would be a good idea if you PM all your team members today and remind them to post their miles asap and definitely before Saturday night.

Thanks for being a captain!! Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks!!

ps...whew, this community organizer stuff is hard work :-)

OHHHHH - Team Captains,

If your team members do NOT have anything posted by Saturday night.  Just send me what they have; even if it is ZERO.

There's no way I or you can wait around for people to post their miles.

Having a big, fat ZERO or forgetting to log miles will be great fodder for Harassment and Trash Talking next week.

Thanks!!

Ps...once I have your numbers and post results on Monday, I will not make adjustment for people who whine, "I forgot to post my miles."  Babies.

Runnin' god has spoken.
