Much of it was with my road bike. I pulled him 40 miles from Breckenridge to Vail and it was great fun. When I would get to ride without pulling him I felt like a rocket! What people thought about me never entered into it. People will think whatever they want why be concerned about it? |

To the OP thanks for giving me an idea for a birthday present for my wife. I can get her a trailer so I can pull our son during my rides and get more time in the saddle. More time for her to sleep in. |

For instance I'm fairly chatty, so I make comments out loud on the bike occasionally. I just say what I'm thinking, out loud. Yes, this is while cycling solo. Saturday I passed by a farm and one cow was lying down all by himself, and the other 25 were huddled in a pack nearby. And typical of me, I always have a comment, so I said out loud to the cow, "Look at you honey. Why are you lying there all by yourself? Go party with your friends." And then I saw him, the farmer standing right there who heard it all and was laughing hysterically at the dorky chick on the bike talking to his cows. I just laugh at my dorky self. So Chudley, trust me, no worries! |

I quit my job to be a stay at home dad. I love taking the kids out for a run in the jogging stroller. I don't pull them in the trailer on the bike however. Who gives a flying fig what others think? You're getting your training in and spending time with your kids. You sound like a great dad. Keep it up. |

Regular 90 Palatka, Florida | Subject: RE: isn't it all about looks? Since we are on the subject, could any one recomend a good running/biking double stroller. I have a 15 month old little boy and a daughter on the way she is due 12/23/08. My son loves to go with me when I walk and run, and I'm sure that my daughter will want to go when she gets bigger as well. The stroller that we have is a regular stroller and does not handle grass and dirt to well, plus it's only a single rider. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Chris |

They are pricey, but they are super functional and very good quality. We have gone thru a couple of trailers/joggers one was made by Stagecoach (trailer only - and kind of small it's now our grocery trailer!) and one we still use for our son is made by Instep (both a trailer and jogger - a lot bigger and way more reflective features to it) Shop around, but like I say if we had to do it again it would be a Chariot. |

I just can't stay home for too long especially if the weather is great. She sleeps the moment we get going, sometimes for 2 hrs straight. Not even once cried. There are many people here in Chicago who do the same. Does it look crazy? To whom? However, I don't think I would put her in a trailer behind the bike... Just doesn't seem safe to me.

Just not at the level of endurance to make it worthwhile yet. I'll take him for walks, but him and Mommy do the running thing. As a stay-at-home dad for his first 18 months, I got over all the daddy and baby looking dorky worries, though. Just go with it. You love your kid and want to spend time with him, and if he enjoys it I say more power to you. My neighbors all already think I'm crazy anyway, though. We live in a quiet neighborhood, and I get odd looks when I'm out back pedaling my bike on the porch, the sprinting to my garage or alley to do some powercleans or overhead presses, then taking off running around the block. People give me odd looks quite frequently, I just smile and wave. |
