Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! Woot yay I got on a team! Here is my storry in a nutshell. I am quickly approaching my 1st year off the couch. I live in the middle of nowhere, have been happily married 19 years, have 5 children aged 3 to 16 and work in the school system, go go budget cuts. Only in California do we need to pass a law that states that children must be provided with textbooks. In any case I turned the big 40, found myself 180 pounds on a 5' 9" frame and decided that 4 years of college, 5 years of 2 masters and 3 years for the Ph.D. put more pounds on my belly than I wanted. So like many I found myself on this websight and exercizing last October probly. Since then I have lost 41 pounds, have run a 5k, 10 miler, Half Mary and done a sprint and Oly Tri with my sights set on a HIM next. I got in a 9 miles on Tuesday, 6 lastnight and 5.5 tonight and am toatally spent. So that's something like 25 % of my goal of 80 miles. The weekend is lite and next week is bike focused and a taper toward the end of the month. But I am on track for the moment. I am also in a challenge where I need to bike twice as many miles between July and the end of the year than I did between January and the end of June. So this should be fun. Glad to be aboard. Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! Actually I was sick for like 3 months in the beginning of the year, and my bike had to get a frame replacement and well this is my first year training so my actual milage from Jan to June was like 800 ish. So I am shooting for a total for the year of only 2500 biked and well 1000 miles run. The HIM I am thinking of is in 5 weeks and I am not sure if I am in good enough shape for it but eh. |

Master 2231 Des Moines, Iowa | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! OHHHHH - Team Captains, If your team members do NOT have anything posted by Saturday night. Just send me what they have; even if it is ZERO. There's no way I or you can wait around for people to post their miles. Having a big, fat ZERO or forgetting to log miles will be great fodder for Harassment and Trash Talking next week. Thanks!! Ps...once I have your numbers and post results on Monday, I will not make adjustment for people who whine, "I forgot to post my miles." Babies. Runnin' god has spoken. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! So ya I don't need an MP3 player when I go on long runs, I can just contemplate... things. Anyway 1.7 ish mile swim, 27 ish mile bike and 3.1 mile run today in 3 hours even. Brings my run total to 24 miles for the week so 24/80 = 30 percent. Where do we report numbers? Send an email to our camptain or what? You know you are a triathlete when you wake up, drive your daugther to her cross country meet, drop her off and drive 1 hour to the lake, swim an hour and as the sun clears the trees you step out of the wate at the boat ramp just as the early morning fishermen are starting to put their boats in. Was a great swim, glass calm and I was the only person on the lake for the first hour 8). |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! It looks like I am gona be pretty close on my running goal. I have a bike focused week this week and a swim focused week next week with almost no running in them. After that is a lite week and then we are in November. I guess that is why folks look at their plans before throwing numbers out there for the challenge. We shall see if I can pull it off or not. I hope everyone else out there is racking up the miles.... anyone.... ? |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Billikens Team Thread! I'm at 51%, but won't be running much this week (bike focused (200 miles) or next week swim focused (9 miles). OMG my swim total for last month was 9 miles, sigh next week is gona kill me. What is worse is I have to drive an hour to the lake (35 F air temp) start the swim in the dark, swim 90 min then drive an hour to work. Those mild lake alergies are gona make me pleasant next week. |
