I am relatively new to this whole thing, but have made great progress so far. I look forward to meeting all of you! Yay for progress. I love Chicago... one of my favorite cities. Except for that whole cold thing. I don't like it much colder than mid-50s. Yup, I'm a wimp... but I prefer to call that "princessy". |

Other than the fact that you have a small, cold heart but some of us know that's really just an act (shh, I won't let that out)Well now. Enough of this quiet stuff. We shall fix that effective immediately. My name is... Mila. Yes, I know, very clever. It's pronounced MY-la. I live in my kingdom, which is located in Hotlanta. I enjoy princessy things like tiaras, kissing frogs, glass slippers and manicures. I also really enjoy riding my pretty bike and getting my lift on. I swim (in my moat) when it's absolutely necessary and I enjoy running (very slowly) from I have some medical, erm... "challenges"... that sometimes get in the way of training but I usually manage to get a lil' somethin' somethin' in despite that... generally 5-6 days per week. It helps that I get paid to work out and ride my bike. I obviously have the best.job.ever. I should probably mention that I am cold-hearted and ill-behaved. I love BT challenges... but I don't like to not win (actually, I've never really experienced that, though it's not looking so hot for October. I have been known to use motivational "props" to inspire my teammates. I think that about covers it. Did I leave anything out, Judi & Kendra?
yes don't worry, we won't tell anyone Hey Beth, are you on our team or are you just checking in?? |

Hi Travis. They are a little quiet... do you think I scared them away already?? Maybe, maybe not. They could just be tieing up loose ends from Oct's challenge so that they can be 100% commited to your team. Since they know loosing isn't a good option and all. Don't worry Mila. I had very good post padding training with the Dark Arts.... As soon as I am back in the U.S. I will be more active in the thread! ;-) |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Mother Truckers Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Nice bike Miles Myla for both 2007 and 2008. I am still building in all 3 events, well I was until the lake got down into the 40's and I had to walk across snow to get to the water. When I started worrying whether my core body temp would dorp below critical before I got back to shore, the motivation started dropping off on the swim practice. So bike and run focused for me, mostly run untill that mary. That is going to be long isn't it.... Oh well at least it won't have 8k feet in climb like that evil trail run. What bike are you ridin Myla? Hopefuly I can get a swim thing going again before spring. I am building a place for a swimspa in my home. The contractors in this part of the world make snails look reallly fast. 5 months after starting the process.... we have a slab and 4 walls. I'm hoping that in November they get the roof put on. Then in December, maybe do the wiring. January is probaly good for 1 coat of paint. I will keep yall posted. Rain forcast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. how do the clouds know when the weekend is. (Sunny all week and then rain all weekend every week.) Edited by Baowolf 2008-10-31 12:40 AM |

Je peux "parler" (well, OK, in this case, write... with terrible spelling and grammar) un peu de français... mais je le lis bien. What kind of injury do you have? I seem to have some kind of achilles issue going on... going to the doctor next week and I'm afriad he's gonna say no bike or run. Since I am in love with my bike, this is going to be problematic . Edited because I spelled spelling wrong. Yeah. Really! Bonjour Mila, je suis très content de te rencontrer. En passant ton français est très bien I hurt my ITBand during my half mary and still have some pain from shin split that sticked with me since july ... I am happy I did my half mary but looking back at it maybe I shouldn't have go that fast with the running part. It's been almost a month since I run, besides two little run to test if my band was back :P. This is so long. Well I am seeing my PT next tuesday, I hope she'll be nice enough to give me the go to restart running slowly. Till then I will just swim and ride more :D Edited by rlejeune 2008-10-31 7:45 AM |

I will be happy to be under 4:30 for my first mary in January. Looking at your logs and races 4:30 should be a piece of cake for you. Sounds like you're doing things right getting some long distance runs in ahead of time. That sounded like a wicked trail run you just finished. My legs were burning just reading about it. Ouch! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Mother Truckers Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Welcom Alyssa, good to see you in on the challenge. It is currently raining and looks like it will do so until work starts on Monday. My trail run race totally fried my bike goals for October, oh well. I met my minimum goal of 250 miles biked and met my run goal of 100 miles run. So this weekend looks like run tonight, possibly outside if the rain is not too hard or on the dreadmill 6-8 miles. Or I might just drop in 1 more day of biking and make a brick of it for tonight. Anyway, the magical tool for shin splints is the Marathon Stick $25 ish. This impliment of torture is a 2 foot long plastic bar with rollers on it and handles on the end. You roll it up and down across the offending muscle group (just outside tibia on shin, do not hit the bone....) shins in your case and it breaks up the little muscles that have clumped together and are spasming, not working together and causing you pain. I had shin splints in February I think and could not run without pain. I picked up one of these babies and vwhala no shin splints since and I was running after maybe 3 days to 1 week rest. Also, I started doing ice baths, well at least full cold out of the fauset baths for 10 minutes after every run of 8 miles or more (read whatever your longer runs are). I have averaged around 85 miles per month since then with no return of the pain. (I have also worked on having less of a heal strike and more of a mid foot strike, but that discussion will bring out alot of debate). |

(by the way--it's time) i've got about 340 miles on these shoes, and i'm pretty sure i'm going to need new ones before the end of the year. i probably won't be GETTING new ones until spring though. unless some loving soul wants to finance my $300 a year shoe budget. |
