Subject: RE: Team Blizten - Dec. Limiter ChallengeGlad I'm not alone.... Actually, its great running while its snowing...that soft fluffy stuff... either later at night or just before dawn...so quiet! Traction is better when there is a little bit of snow vs just a little covering. And deep stuff ain't fun cuz you get wet faster and you really work your legs as you sort of 'bound' along. I'm skittish when it comes to ice. I don't want to fall and wreck an ankle or wrist -- not only would it crap out my training but also since I typically run pre-dawn hours, I'd be stuck (hmmm...maybe I will suck it up and find a place to put a cell phone! duhhh! ) I use YakTrax for slippery stuff. They are AWESOME! However, they don't do well on pavement cuz the gripper balls can get a bit slippery--so either I use them with fresh snow over icey roads OR I try to run on the snow areas vs the pavement. Last year I ran with below zero wind chills - just had to cover my face and layer - LOTS. Not bad. Pace ain't as fast during the Winter, but its to be expected. And, if its really nasty with precipitation - ice, rain, heavy snow--- I use the treadmill. |
